Chapter 105: Legendary Food Experience

"...Why do I have to cook for you people?" Jordon Ramtalk asked, finding the entire situation unbelievable.

In less than five minutes, Soleil had somehow managed to acquire an empty stall, gather ingredients, and prepare a cooking station for him.

The efficiency left him completely dumbfounded.

She had apparently prepared several backup plans in case Ethan refused her invitation to eat.

Unfortunately for him, there was also a group of children cornering Jordon.

Some used reason.

Some used shamelessness.

Some used tears.

And the barbarians even challenged him to a fight.

Faced with such overwhelming pressure, Jordon eventually surrendered.

Still, he only agreed to cook once.

’Fuck! This is exactly why I don’t like children!’

Jordon thought while examining the ingredients Soleil had gathered.

Then his eyes landed on a bundle of edible silk harvested from a Silk Tree.

It was a rare ingredient and not something students should have easy access to.

He immediately looked toward Soleil as the girl merely smiled.

"Alright," Jordon finally said.

"But keep your voices low, if any of you become too noisy, I’m leaving immediately."

"YES, CHEF!"

The boys shouted simultaneously.

Even Voomie and Jojo joined in.

Neither understood what was happening, but they understood food.

Meanwhile, Soleil and Ethan sat nearby.

"Why don’t you tell me more about the previous hunt during your mission?" Soleil asked.

Ethan’s eyebrows twitched.

For some reason, he felt a hidden glare directed toward him.

Turning around, he discovered Caelum staring at him thoughtfully.

"...Why are you looking at me like that?"

Caelum rubbed his chin which had no goatee.

"I feel like you’re some kind of Food Charm."

"What?"

Ethan was genuinely confused.

Caelum recalled the ball they had attended before.

And every time he met Ethan, good food or disaster somehow appeared.

The pattern was becoming suspicious.

"What’s a Food Charm?" Voomie asked.

The dog was sitting upright on a chair with surprising dignity.

Unfortunately, the sight of a fat dog attempting to look noble was not very convincing.

At that moment, Jordon clapped his hands.

"Alright kids, I am now ready to make this shi–" He paused.

A strange expression appeared on his face.

That sentence felt wrong, especially considering he was about to cook.

Slowly, he looked toward the children.

The children looked back.

"...Food."

He corrected himself.

Then he gave them a meaningful glare.

"If you watch carefully, you might actually learn something."

"Excuse me, Chef."

Caelum immediately raised his hand.

A vein appeared on Jordon’s forehead.

"What is it now?"

Without answering immediately, Caelum placed both hands beneath the table.

A moment later, he pulled out several fruits.

To everyone else, it looked as though he had retrieved them from his School Badge.

"Can you make dessert too?"

Jordon accepted collected the fruits as his eyes widened.

The fruit vanished from his hand and reappeared a moment later as he carefully inspected it from every angle.

"..."

Everyone watched silently.

"Fuck! This is why I like kids!" Jordon exclaimed.

The sudden change in attitude left everyone stunned.

The fruit in his hand was something he had only read about in books.

It was an extinct fruit.

A treasure that should not exist in the modern era.

Yet here it was and not just one.

Even from a quick examination, he could sense a terrifying amount of pure ice energy within each fruit.

"Alright! I’ll make dessert."

The children cheered.

"Using only one." he continued.

The cheering stopped.

"The rest are mine hahahaha..." He laughed strangely.

The children immediately stared at him with hostile expressions.

The atmosphere became dangerous.

Feeling the hateful glares directed at him, Jordon coughed awkwardly.

"It’s not because I want them but, the ice energy contained within these things is absurd. Your bodies can’t handle it and if I gave all of them to you, I’d be serving frozen corpses by the end of the day."

The explanation slightly eased the hostility, only slightly.

Jordon pretended not to notice as he rolled up his sleeves.

Mana slowly gathered around his hands as the ingredients floated into the air.

Various magical utensils emerged one after another.

A serious expression appeared on his face.

The lazy and annoyed chef disappeared.

In his place stood a master of his craft.

A man recognized throughout the world as one of the finest Magic Chefs alive.

"Now then, watch carefully. Today, I’ll show you what real cooking looks like."

A confident smile appeared on his face.

’I should have just given him one fruit...’ Caelum regretted revealing multiple Ice Fruits.

He had eaten a few while trapped inside the Forbidden Zone and knew how useful they were.

At the time, he simply thought that one fruit wouldn’t be enough for everyone present.

Now, however, he realized his mistake.

The moment Jordon had recognized their value, the fruits had practically become the chef’s personal property.

Caelum wanted to snatch them back.

Unfortunately, they were currently sitting in the middle of a public festival and standing before them was the Head of the Food Faculty.

As a cultivator, there were some things he could tolerate.

Losing treasure was painful but losing face was worse.

What was face?

In cultivation terms, it was similar to reputation.

It was the perspective through which others viewed you.

A person’s dignity.

Their image.

Their standing in the eyes of the world.

And right now, Caelum refused to lose face over a few fruits.

Even if his heart was bleeding, he had plenty of them in his inventory.

"The atmosphere has changed..." Ethan suddenly muttered as everyone looked toward Jordon Ramtalk.

The chef’s demeanor had become completely different.

Gone was the annoyed teacher who had been forced into cooking.

In his place stood a true master.

The dish he was preparing was known as: Golden Wisp Silkies.

Using magic, Jordon made an enormous pan float into the air before him.

Mana surged from his fingertips.

A gentle crimson flame emerged beneath the pan.

Unlike ordinary fire, every degree of temperature was under his complete control.

The pan heated evenly as he poured in a special golden oil.

The moment it touched the pan, a rich aroma spread outward.

Next came the main ingredient.

The edible silk harvested from a Silk Tree.

Long silver strands floated gracefully through the air before descending into the pan.

The moment they touched the oil, something magical happened.

The oil wrapped around each strand individually.

Slowly, the silver silk began transform into pure golden strands.

The children watched in fascination.

The silk strands danced within the pan as if they possessed lives of their own.

Then Jordon moved his fingers.

The countless strands separated before three strands combined into one.

Soon, delicate golden noodles had formed.

The aroma intensified as several spices floated into the air.

Some were crushed.

Some were ground into powder.

Others were transformed into pure essence before being added to the dish.

The scent alone nearly drove everyone mad.

Even passersby had begun gathering nearby.

"What is that smell?"

"Did someone hire a professional chef?"

"Wait... isn’t that Head Chef Jordon?"

Meanwhile, Voomie was drooling openly.

"Wooof..."

A large number of plates floated into the air before Jordon.

With a flick of his wrist, portions were distributed onto each plate.

Everyone reached forward instinctively.

"Stop."

Jordon’s voice immediately froze them.

His expression remained serious as for nearly an entire minute, he simply waited.

No one understood why.

Silence filled the stall.

Then, thin wisps of smoke began rising from the noodles.

The remaining excess oil evaporated.

The spices fully settled into the golden strands.

The aroma exploded.

It was as if the dish had only truly awakened now.

Voomie nearly fell from her chair.

Only after witnessing everyone’s reactions did Jordon finally nod in satisfaction.

A proud smile appeared on his face.

Then he pointed dramatically toward the plates.

"Now..." His voice echoed through the stall.

"EAT!"
