Chapter 11: Abyss of Origin
His second condition came as a surprise to them all. They never really cared about the process of attending the academy, but currently, it’s considered a mandatory requirement, at least to learn how to use their power and protect themselves.
"We all know going to academy is useless. You will learn more when you get inside a ruin or when you go inside the first floor of the tower than going inside the academy for 3 year."
That was the truth. The only thing you can learn that’s useful is mana control. But taking in the example of Eleanor, she will be able to do that in a single day.
"Is it just you asking for all these conditions, or is she also aware of this? We are all here for her in the first place." Alaric raised his hand, signalling Ethan to stop and asked.
His sharp eyes landed on him, glaring at him intently.
It wasn’t just him; others also had the same thoughts. It was just because of Aurora that they were silent.
"Then you came here for nothing. If you are so afraid of government, then go back, I will carry this heavy burden for you all."
Contrary to him, Aurora playfully responded to both sides.
"Can you stay quiet for a while?" But Ethan did not care about that and told her to stay silent.
He then looked at Alaric and the other leaders and spoke without being affected by their judgment of him.
"If I really have to be honest with you all, I don’t actually care what you are. Whether you are the leader of S-rank guilds or the strongest hunters of this world. More than me, you guys should be aware of where you truly stand inside the tower. Every single one of you, including the chatterbox behind me, isn’t truly the strongest inside the tower and by each passing moment, our end is getting near."
He shook his head slightly and continued, not getting intimidated by the glare he was receiving.
"You must have other S-rank hunters in your guild, so one more won’t hurt you, right? You are here cause she has an unidentified mana pool and dual affinity. When I speak, I speak for her, so if you have any issue with that, you can leave anytime. If not you guys, then she is already ready to accept any conditions. It’s only out of respect for you all that I am even considering you guys."
As soon as he finished saying that, Magnus came towards him. His large build cast a huge shadow over Ethan.
He seemed like a small child when standing in front of that giant.
"Aren’t you running your mouth too much? I was patient till now, but won’t do it again. A brat like you actually thinks you have any right to negotiate with us?"
Along with his warning, Magnus released a heavy spiritual pressure over him.
The entire building began to shake as if an earthquake had hit it.
The concrete beneath him cracked with the terrifying pressure that he gave out.
Even after all that, Ethan stood there as if nothing had happened.
"It barely tickles."
"What?!"
Furious and enraged, he was about to slam him on the floor when Aurora intervened and grabbed his hand.
"Now hold it there, Magnus. You are getting out of control again. Stand down."
In an instant, she dissipated the spiritual pressure without any issue.
A few words from her were enough to make the leader of an S-rank guild back away.
"There is nothing wrong with what he says, however... You should be mindful of what you say if you value your life."
Her calm yet cold eyes pointed at Ethan. It was a warning for him that he shouldn’t take them lightly.
"This is the only time I am helping you. It won’t happen again. Though it might change if you join my guild."
She was fierce and domineering just a moment ago, but flipped again at the end.
While this all happened, Eleanor, who was watching this all unfold, was fuming with rage; her clear and serene blue eyes were overflowing with killing intent.
’How dare he try to harm Ethan? I will make him pay.’
Her mana, corresponding with her emotions, was running wild. The area beneath her was starting to freeze, but it was evaporating at the same time.
"Not happening. If you guys do not wish to hear me out till the end, just leave. If you are fine with the previous 2 conditions, then stay. This will be the last one."
He paused for a second before saying his final condition.
It was because of the last condition that he even called the leaders of the top 6 guilds here.
Only they have the power and authority to make it happen.
"It will be hard even for you all. If you guys can fulfil this last one, then Eleanor will join that guild. My final condition doesn’t involve her; it’s for me alone. What I want from one of you is... the permission to go into the Abyss of Origin."
