Chapter 389: I am Penniless (II)
When Xu Yuanshu came to look for Han Yong, she was determined to keep her attitude calm and composed. After all, she needed to ask Han Yong for a favour. But after being refused by Han Yong, Xu Yuanshu could no longer keep her face straight. She glared at the man as if he had committed some grave sin.
"Did you not hear me the first time? I said no!" Han Yong felt terrible. This was his wife. The two of them had been married for so long; even if they did not have any feelings, one could still expect the other person to become a bit compassionate. His father just came out of the ICU after surgery and this woman—forget about having the least bit of compassion for his family; she was demanding he take out three thousand yuan.
From where would he get three thousand yuan? If he had money, wouldn’t he have taken it out when his father needed surgery fees?
"I have no money... all the money in the company was taken by your family." Han Yong spat a mouthful of blood on the floor before wiping the blood droplets hanging from the corner of his mouth. "And even if I had any money, I would have never given it to you. How many times has your brother done this? Each time you came looking for me, you said that it was the last time. Yet your brother has never changed his habits. In the beginning he used to gamble for two to three hundred yuan and now he is straight up gambling away three thousand yuan?"
"Xu Yuanshu, my family is not your family’s atm. You cannot just come asking for money whenever you think you are in trouble. Look at where your brother has brought us. He is a bottomless pit! If not for him, my company would be fine and I wouldn’t have to declare bankruptcy." Han Yong had no interest in doing business but at the same time, who would want to watch his hard work getting ruined? Wasn’t it because his wife did not understand the principle of right and wrong and sneakily helped her brother and maternal family behind his back?
If not for the fake accounts that were reported to him, his business would have never suffered so badly.
In the end, other than him not being passionate enough, it was also the fault of his wife and her natal family that his business suffered so badly.
After all, by the time he realised that there was something amiss, it was already too late.
Xu Yuanshu was hit hard. She knew that her brother was in the wrong but he was the only son of the Xu family and she could not leave him alone. She bit her lips and stubbornly stated, "Han Yong, there is no need to say so many words; just tell me if you are going to give me the money or not? No matter what, he is your brother in law. If his legs are broken, won’t you feel sorry for him?"
Her brother was the only one in the family who could take care of the Xu family and her in the future. This was something that her mother had told her since she was a child. If something happened to her brother, what would happen to her? She was worried that without her brother taking care of her, she would be abandoned sooner or later.
"Why should I feel sorry for him? I am neither his father nor his mother!" Han Yong coldly refused to dirty his hands. "He has his own parents to worry about. Xu Yuanshu, I am already giving you enough face by not suing your family for stealing the company funds. But if you continue making trouble when my dad is admitted to the hospital, then I will make sure that before the loan sharks reach your brother, he ends up in prison!"
"You!" Xu Yuanshu was so angry that her eyes turned red. She never thought that Han Yong would be this cruel to her. It wasn’t like Han Yong did not have money in his hands. He clearly did but instead of helping her brother, he would rather throw the money in the gutter. He was simply ruthless. "Why can’t you help my brother? He is your junior as well. Is it too much for you to help him? Once my brother becomes capable, he will naturally help you as well."
Han Yong curled his lips mockingly. "How many times have I helped him? Xu Yuanshu, forget about your brother becoming capable and helping me; it will be better if he learns how to be grateful!" He saw her opening her mouth again and coldly stated, "enough, no matter what you say, I will not give you any money. I am penniless myself and even the three hundred yuan was borrowed from someone."
"You are lying!"
"You can think whatever you want but think about it carefully. All the money at home has long been emptied out by you and the funds at the company were manipulated by your brother. There is nothing that I, Han Yong, have. Where will I get three thousand yuan from?" Han Yong smiled wryly and asked.
After he finished speaking, he dragged Han Xuehan with him.
Xu Yuanshu watched him leave with a pale face. In her heart she didn’t believe a thing that Han Yong said to her but after doing a quick calculation, she realised that Han Yong was indeed penniless. Earlier she thought that the man must have saved some private savings but now —she was no longer sure. Han Yong might have been indifferent to her but he was a good man. At least he did not cause trouble outside and would come straight home after going to the company.
Where would he keep his private savings? But if that was the case, what would happen to her brother? How would their family arrange three thousand yuan for him?
