Han Ruochen sensed that maybe she had unconsciously shown her true feelings on her face and immediately covered up any traces of murderous intent that might have leaked out from her eyes or expressions. When she raised her head, her expression had calmed down by several degrees.
Xu Yuanshu, on the other hand, looked like an overcooked shrimp. She first picked up her son and patted him on the back. Her heart was aching at the sight of her son looking like he had been scared silly by Han Ruochen. She turned and glared at Han Ruochen before saying to her, "What do you mean by those words?"
"Are you dumb? Can you not understand something so simple? Your son is really good. You have taught him really good values. No matter how young Han Beijiang might be, in the end, your son is his nephew, and he is his uncle, yet your son was hitting his elder. What were you doing when he was hitting my brother? Since you cannot teach your son, then I can do it for you." Han Ruochen could never forget the day when her eldest brother was admitted to the hospital, followed by a brutal and cold murder.
And the one responsible for it was none other than Xu Yuanshu and Han Zhicheng!
Han Ruochen gritted her teeth and took several breaths before calming herself down.
Xu Yuanshu was no different. She wanted to retort, but had nothing to say. She couldn’t understand why this woman, who used to be so cold and distant, as if the worldly affairs had nothing to do with her, would suddenly become chatty. She took in a breath and then said in a low voice, "I heard that you have purchased a washing machine?"
When she heard that Han Ruochen had brought a washing machine, she was so jealous that her anger knew no bounds. She couldn’t believe how someone like Han Ruochen could get her hands on the latest washing machine. And her jealousy increased tenfold when she heard that Han Ruochen had got her hands on a washing machine. That was a washing machine! That thing was something that only the richest families could have.
She wanted to bring the washing machine home to show off in front of the other ladies; thus, she came to see her mother-in-law and aunt. But her aunt clearly stated that she couldn’t hand her the machine.
You have no idea that the heartless woman is no longer under my control. If I dare to give you this machine, she will not only make a fuss in front of her father but also make me bring this machine back as soon as possible. I dare not take the risk.
That was what Meng Yunhan had told her, but Xu Yuanshu didn’t believe it.
She even scoffed at her aunt for taking Han Ruochen too seriously. That woman was as smart as a cold ironing board; how could she free herself from her aunt’s grasp, but, looking at the situation in front of Xu Yuanshu, she had a feeling that Han Ruochen was no longer as easily controlled as she used to be in the past.
However, Xu Yuanshu still didn’t take Han Ruochen seriously; after all, how could a woman change so much? So after taking a few breaths, she calmly said to Han Ruochen, "Sister, I heard that you have purchased a washing machine?"
When Han Ruochen heard Xu Yuanshu mention the washing machine, she sneered. No wonder this woman turned up here and even brought her son along with her. It was because she wanted to snatch the washing machine. Looking at the greed in the eyes of the woman, Han Ruochen could not help but wonder how her family was able to survive till now. They were clearly surrounded by a bunch of starving and hungry wolves!
"Yes, so what about it?" Han Ruochen brought Han Beijiang inside the house with her and took out the ointment from the cabinet. She then brought Han Beijiang to the living room and applied the ointment on the blackish-blue wounds. Her heart couldn’t help but ache when she thought about how ruthless Han Zhicheng was toward a young boy like Han Beijiang. No wonder this brat was able to pull the mask off his ill father in the hospital, sending him to the underworld prematurely.
When Xu Yuanshu heard her question, she was stunned. Usually, the woman would ask her if she wanted to use the machine, but why was she acting differently now?
Meng Yunhan sneered when she saw her niece getting stuck. Earlier, she did tell this woman that there was something different about Han Ruochen, but she didn’t believe her and even said that she was reading too much into it. Now tell her that she was reading too much between the lines.
She would love to hear those words again.
Xu Yuanshu somehow calmed herself down and then said in a low voice, "Ruochen, I was thinking...your family doesn’t have many clothes, so can I take the machine —"
"Sure, just pay me four thousand yuan."
Xu Yuanshu was quite happy when she heard the first half of the sentence, but when she heard the other half. Her face couldn’t help but scrunch up. "Ruochen, what do you mean by telling me to pay you four thousand yuan? You have already purchased the machine, and I am just borrowing it—"
