Chapter 98: One Versus Eig—Nine
"Are you ready?" Jacob asked with a smile tugging at his lips, he was ready to see what these men had to offer on the battlefield, and if any of them could even take him on.
Of course he knew that was very unlikely, more like wishful thinking.
They all chorused "Yes," as though they were in choir of band, he then performed the ’Ckme st me sign,’ spurring them on immediately as they all ram toward him with the blades and weapons screaming.
Jacob simply just look at them, their speed was at a rate so slow, it only made him yawn.
Manu was ahead of the pack, running towards Jacob with the tip of the spear pointed at the young man, Jacob simply shifted the spear to the left and slammed his elbow in Manu’s face, sending him a few meters away and against the wall.
Everything seemed to happen in slow motion for Jacob, he could easily read their movements and their body language, plus he was extremely fast compared to any of them.
He danced through them gracefully, knocking every single one of them down easily, he could hear the groans that escaped their mouths anytime he inflicted pain on them.
Even though tbe men were chiseled and built like seasoned gym bros, Jacob was far superior to them in strength, if this was a serious battle, all of them would be dead right about now.
The fight went on over and over, the men refused to acknowledge defeat, and kept running at Jacob shamelessly.
At first it sounded like they were resilient, but a Jacob soon realized their actions were bordering disrespect, he only smiled because he was having a little fun hitting these men hard until they lay sprawled across the floor.
"Tsk. Tsk. It seems none of you are worth enough to win the ten thousand gold coins after all." Jacob jeered, looking at the tired men that lay on the ground.
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
He heard three resounding claps come from the entrance of the training ground, the presence was very familiar, Jacob knew it all too well.
"Very good Jacob, I’m glad you’re having fun but isn’t this a little beneath you?" Light asked, ginning playfully as he walked towards Jacob.
"I was just mentoring them, is all. I also made a small wager but it seems none of them are up to the task." Jacob replied, a hint of disappointment in his voice.
"Well why don’t you skip them and face some real opposition." Light’s eyes began to glow, one was black and one was white.
Jacob had never seen Light in battle stance before, he admitted it looked really cool from his point of view, he smiled eagerly, all the hair on his body danced freely in excitement.
He was ready to find out just what the red haired boy was capable of.
The eight men that lay on the floor had somehow managed to clear out from the arena, they had been absolutely toyed with, so they hung their heads in shame as they walked out of the room.
Jacob didn’t pay them no mind as they moved out, his time with them was over, none of them ment expectations.
He had another target in front of him now, one who seemed worthy of him.
"What are you waiting for then?" Jacob asked Light as his own eyes began to glow in a golden hue, a testament to the evolvement of his optical features.
Light attacked first, Jacob held no weapon, he kept Excalibur safely tucked away as he didn’t wish to use it for any of his sparring sessions any more.
The red haired man send a wave of black energy that erupted out of the ground like waves lapping at sea towards Jacob. As Jacob managed to dodge it, swinging his body to the left, he was met with another wave of light energy, traveling towards him at a very high speed.
But Jacob wasn’t anything if he wasn’t swift, he easily dodged that too, landing on the ground without breaking a sweat.
"Is that all you got?" Jacob shouted, an attempt to enrage Light, to make him release all the energy and anger he had bottled up.
Light gritted his teeth, he didn’t like how easily tbe young man dodged his attack, he decided to double down.
"No! I’ll crush you!" Light yelled, he closed his fist tight, a black aura surrounded it, then he made a gesture as though he were pulling something.
Three black octopus-like tendrils shot up out of the ground and reached for Jacob, but he didn’t dodge this time.
He let the tendrils envelop him in the darkness, watching as he floated above the ground, he watched as a victorious smile flashed across Light’s face as he pulled him closer, Jacob just watched in silence.
The skill that Jacob pulled was a lot like a skill he had once read in a manga. "Replication Jutsu."
In mere seconds Light was unable to understand anything that happened, Jacob stood outside, right where he had been standing, and Light floated in a dark bubble towards Jacob.
"Wha-what?! How!?" Light exclaimed, unable to understand what had just occurred.
"I simply just altered reality a little bit." Jacob smiled playfully, and announced like it was nothing, it was at that moment that Light knew that he was no match for the young man.
Jacob dropped him and watched as he struggled to regain himself. By the time Light gathered himself and looked up, Jacob was no longer there.
A sharp pain tore through his buttocks, one that he couldn’t have expected, the sheer force of the pain pushed him forward.
He yelped and rubbed his buttocks while turning back quickly, he couldn’t believe the sight that met him.
Jacob squatted and picked up Lignt’s sword, tossing it at him.
"If you’re gonna show your worth at the feast, you’re gonna need to try harder. You can’t even defeat my clone." Jacob said with a straight face. "And for heaven’s sake, get a new sword."
The words pierced through Light’s heart like a dagger, they were cold, but true, realizing that he had just been brutally humiliated by nothing but a clone really did a number on him.
But he was not to be discouraged, he would train every day.
"Wait, teach me, whatever it is that you know, please teach me. After twelve years, I don’t want to look like a failure in front of my father for the umpteenth time." Light pleaded with Jacob.
Jacob turned to look at him, he wasn’t a mentor, neither was he a teacher, but there was great knowledge he could impart in this young man.
If only he had decided to join in the Great Sage’s training regimen. Well that was in the past now.
He accepted to mentor Light for a while and teach him a few things.
There was less than three days left till the celebration and Light might have been out of time, but it he assimilated quickly and purposed in his heart to learn something, then three days was a lot of time.
He didn’t have Infinite Comprehension, but he would do his best.
