Chapter 119: Light vs Yannick pt. 2(Final Battle)

Light breathed slowly, time was running out and Yannick was no doubt the one with the upper hand in this battle.

His eyes surfed the entire battleground, browsing for any cracks in the walls or in the floor, he had thought up a plan, but he needed every ounce of his power to implement it. For now he would stay at a reasonable distance, but there was no accounting for what would happen if Yannick decided to bridge the gap, as he could whenever he wished to.

"You’re a great fighter brother." Yannick said for the first time since the fight began. "I have been studying your movements all through the tournament—and I must say, you are very good... but your style is still lacking."

The man’s eyes were icy cold and his face was expressionless, Light knew that his words were true but he wouldn’t let him know that he shared his thought process.

"Well—brother, it’s a good thing I’m a fast learner." Light smiled, a drop of blood dripping down his nostril as he wiped it cleanly with his bandage.

Yannick only just sighed, and then he dashed at Light again, the wind parting behind him as he shot forward like a missile.

Light swung his hands, sending tendril after tendril at Yannick, but they were easily dismantled by the small daggers and the sheer speed and force that the man came with.

Yannick spun his body in the air and kicked downwards at Light’s skull with his right foot. Light managed to side step, the wind brushed past his face, causing his hair to float momentarily.

But it wasn’t over, Yannick turned around and kicked forward with his other leg.

Light barely dodged again, Yannick just kept sending gusts of wind over and over towards Light but the young man managed to escape the attack each time.

"You fight well, but you make the mistake of thinking I have to touch you." Yannick said calmly, his voice not matching the intensity of his blows.

In one quick movement, Yannick raised both hands up gradually, as though he were commanding a dead army to rise.

A whirlpool of wind swept Light off his feet and raised him up into the air significantly, his eyes widened to the maximum as he lost control of himself.

He was spinning in the air indefinitely, he tried to cut through the breeze with his sword but the current was just too strong.

Yannick held him there until he felt satisfied and then with another swift motion, he lowered his hands and sent Light crashing into the ground with terrifying speed.

"GAAHHH!!" Light let out a guttural yell as his body crashed into the concrete, in that moment he was still conscious, but he felt even more sorry for Jonathan, having done this to him many times in the previous battle.

Light groaned and struggled to get up as Yannick walked towards him slowly. His body was covered in dust and bruises, the crowd was deathly silent as they watched as Light suffered on the ground.

It appeared as though the Primarch was smiling at the sight, at least from his wife’s perspective, but she decided not to say anything.

She silently prayed and hoped for Light in her mind, even though they both were her sons and the best possible scenario for them was to come out of the battle alive. She still secretly wished for Light to win.

"You need to show me more, brother. Show me how badly you want this." Yannick said as he inched closer, his voice sounded as though he was beckoning on Light.

"Y-You h-haven’t won—yet." Light gasped, he could hardly breathe as he still struggled to even kneel upright.

Yannick grabbed him by the hair air whipped him across the face again, sending him flying a few meters away.

"I really hope that I haven’t... come on brother. Impress me." Yannick said again, he felt as though Light had not shown any sort of promise in this battle whatsoever.

He walked towards Light again as the young man coughed, spitting blood into the floor. The crowd had started to boo him repeatedly, adding to the embarrassment he already felt, he struggled to his knees and planted his palms on the floor. The blood and sweat dripping from his head mixed up into a little puddle beneath him.

In that moment, he pondered within himself, he gave himself a bit of motivation before he finally remembered he hadn’t even used his technique.

Yannick came closer to him again, breeze swirling around his fist as he loaded up another heavy blow that was sure to knock the young man out.

Even though Light felt weak, he wasn’t defeated, he could see Yannick’s shadow creeping up on him slowly.

He sent his last drop of Qi surging forward, he could therefore feel Yannick’s punch inching closer to his face, before he could even think, he dodged to the left, the breeze brushing past his face so hard it almost pushed him away.

He immediately sent a counter punch flying upwards towards Yannick’s jaw... but the man spotted it and backflipped a couple times, creating instant distance between them.

That was it, Light’s intent was not to hit Yannick, it was to create space between them again, so that he could morph into his final form.

By the time Yannick Landed, he could see Light already upstanding, his eyes glowing the usual shades of whitish gray and black, and his Qi had manifested all around him.

The sight of this form brought a smile to Yannick’s face, he gripped his daggers even tighter as the blades whines faintly in his grasp.

"Now we’re getting somewhere." Yannick muttered to himself, a faint smile dancing on his lips.

This was the first time he had smiled in the entire tournament.

In truth, he had really enjoyed Light’s style of fighting and he just wanted to push them to the edge slightly, so the young man could show him what he was really capable of.

And now he had seen what he wanted, he never much enjoyed one shotting people, like he had done to Vale, fights like that didn’t interest him very much which is why he got over with them as quickly as humanly possible and without saying a word.

Just like his father, he had grown to be disappointed in weakness and he would show no mercy to weak people, but he could see that Light wasnt weak. He only just needed a little nudge.

Light dashed forward, his footprints left behind in the ground with how hard he pushed himself towards Yannick.

"Faster. Good." Yannick acknowledged as he blocked a quick slash.

Light was slicing frantically, it was hard to predict where his next attack was going to land, which made it harder for Yannick to follow him.

Slash after slash, Yannick danced through the air gracefully, making it look even easier than it seemed. The truth was that this was the first time he had ever felt overwhelmed by anyone. He truly enjoyed it, he enjoyed it greatly.

A large grin was on his face now as they tussled over and over, even in the air, Yannick boosted himself backwards with a puff of wind and then pushed himself forward, his forehead aimed at Light’s, in an attempt to headbutt him.

Light blocked with his forearm and sent his knee crashing into Yannick’s abdomen, an attack that both surprised him and excited him. He spin around in the air only for Light to land another punch on his face, sending him a few meters.

The crowd cheered now, they were all but surprised at this comeback, but they were also an emotional bunch who were swayed by the scenes that unfolded before them.

Anissa prayed still, she saw how much Yannick was enjoying this battle, they all did.

"End it quickly—goddamn it." The Primarch reacted for the first time, his face awash with rage as he watched the hands of the battle change in an instant. What’s worse was that Yannick seemed to entertain Light’s attacks as though he wanted to lose.

"Calm down my Lord!" His wife touched his hand but he moved it away quickly.

"Don’t you dare tell me what to do woman!" He said angrily, wagging his index finger at her before he turned to face the battle again.

She kept silent for the time being, but something g told her in her heart of hearts that this battle belonged to Light.

How she longed to see the reaction on his face when Light won and dethroned his favorite child as the strongest of the next Wutherhorn generation.

Light was breathing heavily, but he wasn’t slowing down.

Even though he had an upper hand in this moment, he still had to end the battle as quickly as possible before he burned himself out.

Everything he believed in, everything he wanted people to see him as, was riding on this exact moment.
