Chapter 114: Light vs Jonathan 1
The day was still young and the crowd raved like never before. The final battle drew near and on the corner of the arena, a bookmaker was accepting wagers on who would emerge victorious from this semi-final battle.
One that would take place between two brothers of the number one clan in the estate. This was an even more anticipated battle that the last because it woul finally cement if Light Wutherhorn was worthy enough or if he was just another small fry that just wanted to be accepted by his family.
Light’s hands vibrated as he waited to be announced onto the battleground. It was clear to anyone watching that he was obvious as he bit the fingernails of his free hand.
’What are you even nervous for? You can do this... it’s just another fight.’ He mused as he shook his leg uncontrollably, allowing the anxiety to consume him. ’Remember what Jacob said, you lose first in the mind before you lose on the field. Go out there and do your best.’
He steeled his resolve and looked to his left. His sword rested on the bench beside him, it’s blac and white keather handle already starting to show signs of wear and tear after two grueling battles.
Now there was a third.
He grabbed the handle of the sword and rise to his feet, shaking his limbs as he bounced up and down, repeating the mantra over and over in his mind. He had come too far to lose his cool.
Even if he didn’t win, it would be the battle of his life.
Jonathan was called out first, the man strode through, not even paying attention to the crowd that whistled and yelled his name. He only waved to his wife and children for the umpteenth time and kissed the bracelet that Amylis had given him for their anniversary. It was one of pure steel, studded with rubies and a single sapphire stone in the middle.
Amylis blew a kiss to her husband, and his children waved, they knew his capabilities and they believed in him, regardless of whatever would happen. Jonathan had not incurred a single injury throughout the tournament, unlike light who was tested by Peter.
Jacob watched on, he knew this was only the first real test in Light’s journey, if he somehow managed to overcome Jonathan, then he would go on to battle Yannick, who was most likely on a considerably different level, but rather than being worried, Jacob was excited, he blamed his twisted mind.
Light was called out next. With a white bandage wrapped on his forehead and knuckles, he came out, waving and smiling to the crowd like he always did. They cheered regardless, they were all surprised that he had made it up to this point, something that not many were expecting.

He had seen how Jonathan acted with his wife and children when he walked out, so he decided to mirror the exact same thing with Anissa.
He waved over to her and kissed the necklace she had given him. Her cheeks flushed red instantly, as she was a shy woman by nature. Shy only when it came to interacting him. She wasn’t shy when it came to defending him.
The battle was set. Light Wutherhorn versus Jonathan Wutherhorn, one that would most likely be talked about for decades.
History remembered great fights and this was poised to be one, just like the one that happened between the Primarch and his brother years ago.
The Primarch was actually younger than his brother, but in the time they were to decide who would ascend to the Primarch position, the current Primarch challenged his brother to a duel for the seat.
And in his hubris, the older brother obliged, and would then go on to lose a series of battles to his younger brother. Naturally, he threw a fit, demanding that the seat belonged to him and no one, but the people saw through his weakness and stood firmly behind whom they though was the better leader.
It was said that each battle lasted hours and some people even fainted from the glorious display of power.
Jonathan and Light looked at each other, their eyes unwavering. They were brothers and bore no enmity against each other, but a competition was a competition, and in all competitions, there was a winner and a loser.
"I hope you make this as interesting as your other fights brother." Jonathan smiled, he didn’t look at all nervous, at least not to Light.
But nobody could see what went on deep within him, his heart rate had skyrocketed immensely. He was actually very wary of Light, after watching his brother fight.
"Back at you, brother." Light smiled back, since Jonathan wasn’t nervous, then he too wouldn’t be nervous, there was absolutely nothing to be nervous about.

Jonathan banged his metal fists together, they glowed as though they were charging up, he was a close range fighter, that much was ascertained, so Light would want to keep him at a distance by all means. Whenever he came close to someone, the results were devastating.
Light gripped his sword even tighter as the sharp blade hummed tightly in his grasp, Light’s close range skills weren’t lacking, his only concern was that he won’t be fast enough to parry Jonathan’s lightning quick strikes and each blow he took might be extremely dangerous.
Anissa but her lips so hard they almost bled, it was as though she could see through Light and gee mmm everything he was feeling in that moment. As badly as she wanted him to win, she would still acknowledge that this was going to be a difficult battle for him.
She said a short prayer to the goddess, something she always did and had grown up with, being from an extremely religious family.
She knew that the gods do not meddle in the affairs of humans. She had been faithful to them all her life, and for that reason, if they were unable to grant her such a small wish, then she would doubt their existence.
"FIGHT!"
The announcer yelled as the timer begun. Both men wasted no time whatsoever, charging at top speed towards each other
Jonathan swung both of his hands down heavily, but Light quickly noticed his attack, he raised his sword up to block it.
Jonathan smiled as he watch Light struggle under the weight of his heavy metal arms, the arms began to glow, intensifying the weight of the attack, so that the attack now felt twice as strong as it did the first time.
He kept pounding down, but Light blocked over and over again, his feet dug relentlessly into the ground as Jonathan kept on hammering down.
When Jonathan realized that the attack style wasn’t working. He threw a low blow, aimed at Light’s abdomen, but Light sidestepped right in time to evade the punch.
Jonathan’s hands punched through empty air, the punches didn’t stop coming, they came at Light unendingly, over again, forcing him on the defensive.

But Light was swift, he danced through the air easily as Jonathan sent a barrage of punches through the air.
Every time he punched and missed, the punch seemed to grow stronger, something that Light could not understand. Before long, Jonathan’s punches were creating rifts in the air as Light dodged through them, but he no longer had just the punches to worry about.
He would also have to worry about the smweight if the breee that followed, he had to turn this around, and quickly.
Light backflipped and as he landed, a single dark tendril erupted from the foot of his shadow on the griund and swiped aggressively at Jonathan’s feet.
The man noticed it quickly and jumped into the air, but he didn’t pay attention to Light’s movements.
As he floated in the air, Light took the opportunity to attack him in his vulnerability, he stuck out his foot and kicked directly at Jonathan’s chest.
Even he was surprised that such a petty trick would work on someone as seasoned as Jonathan, but he would take whatever he got.
His kick sent Jonathan hurling away a few meters, his body collided against the floor multiple times before he managed to stop himself with his metal hands. He growled loudly and dashed towards Light again.
As far as Jonathan was concerned, he wouldn’t lose to Light by any means, even if it meant pushing himself to the absolute limit. He would do it because that is what his family would require of him.
Even though Amylis loved Jonathan, she inly married him because of his status, both in the army ranks and in the Wutherhorn clan.
She was originally betrothed to Yannick who was the eldest son and next in line as the Primarch, but Yannick stamped his foot down for Vera, whom he loved very much at the time.
And so, for political purposes, Amylis was set to marry Jonathan, whom she had grown to love deeply over the years.
