Chapter 110: Suffocate
Light rubbed his forearm across his face as for the first time someone had drawn blood from him. He looked at his bloody forearm and hissed at the sight.
This battle had to end, and it had to end now. The Primarch only raised an eyebrow when he saw the young man had been struck cleanly and sent cascading across the arena floor.
Light buried his sword deep in the earth, and used it as support to get back onto his feet.
Peter’s body was covered in blood, but the wolf man only smiled, his wounds were slower to heal as a result of the dark energy that Light covered his blade with, but he still kept that grin on his face.
Light forced himself not to fly off the handle, struggling to calm himself, there was only one way he would win this battle, and it wasn’t by sneaking up on Peter.
Light raised his hand to his eye level, another dark tendril shot out of the ground from Peter’s blind side, it caught him off guard, and was shaped like a massive hand. It grabbed Peter by the neck and began suffocating the wolf man.
Light held it there, struggle was obvious on his face as Peter fought back, trying to pry the massive dark hand from his neck.
Light dropped his blade to the ground now and stretched out his other hand, forcing an extra tendril out of the ground to further suffocate the man.
He was sweating, beads of perspiration forming and dripping down his forehead as he struggled. Peter only evolved, he grew even bigger, even stronger.
He was freakishly strong, but Light kept the tendril arms around his neck, pulling him down towards the ground.

"G-Grahhhhh!" Light groaned lightly as he was losing stamina, Peter kept fighting, roaring and grunting as extra tendrils shot up and held him at bay.
There was nothing the powerful wolf man could do but swipe relentlessly at the dark tendrils, but everytime he did so, they only just regenerated and reformed in an instant.
His feet dug into the ground as he fought back, but eventually he gave up, his knees buckled under the pressure and he fell to his knees.
Even Light fell on one knee as he was also under strain now. Peter was grasping at straws, unable to move or say a word as the tendrils choked him. His eyes slowly shot upward, bloodshot and rolling under his upper eyelid, his mouth swung open.
The wolf man was at his limit, but Light had to be sure. This was the only way he would win this battle, by catching Peter off guard and overpowering him.
Eventually Peter raised his hand up, and tapped on the ground, signaling that he was tapping out of the battle.
The whistle was blown and Light heaved a sigh of relief, releasing the tendrils to seep back slowly into the earth. He had won another battle, a feat that earned another raise of the eyebrow from his father.
Jacob smiled knowingly as the battle was completed, Xenia clapped, and Anissa cheered as usual, still sending glares that were sharper than daggers to the girls in the corner.
"As Peter Wolfe is unable to continue. The winner of this round... Light Wutherhorn!"
The crowd roared at the sound of the announcement and the young man raised his hand up triumphantly.
He smiled a very wide smile that let people know he was enjoying himself, and truly he was. His goal was the same as always, win the tournament and proved that he had a spot in this family, winning the tournament meant not only recognition from his father but recognition from the entire Estate. He was letting them know that he was back, and he was here to stay.
"Not bad, boy." Peter coughed profusely as he buried his claws in the cracked ground. He was smiling but his face gave away the fact that he was not at all happy to lose.
"You definitely didn’t make it easy." Light smiled back, he understood that Peter wasn’t his enemy, they were only opponents in the ring.
"Haha, I must’ve really pushed you for you to say that."
"Ohh, you definitely did bro." Light responded, helping the man up before they both walked back into the tunnels.

There, he met his brothers, who expressed their awe once again at his power. "Bro, you’ve become something else." Christopher, who had lost his last battle, spoke.
"Yes bro, I’m sorry for bullying you this whole time, please don’t suffocate me with your dark hands." Randolph joked and lightly punched Light in the arm.
There was a sense of unity in them, this was not the set of people that he grew up with, those boys had been mean and pissy, these ones were lighthearted and understood what family did.
Maybe something had happened to them, maybe two years of watching their father lie in such a powerless state made them realize that power might not be the most important thing in the world.
They all joked for a while, the final round was coming up soon, it’ll definitely be one to look out for.
Especially since sectseaders usually came to such events to scout their disciples, but this was of no concern to the Wutherhorn boys, who already stood/sat in high positions and had no need for a sect.
In the midst of the warmless that echoed in the tunnel where all the contestants waited for the next announcement, Light heard a soft tapping sound.
As it drew closer, he became aware that it wasn’t tapping, it was clapping, someone was clapping as they moved towards them, maybe it was the announcer.
As he swiveled, he caught the sight of a tall figure, emerging from the shadows. Once the person had gotten closer, his frame became more noticeable, the claps didn’t stop.
The white haired young man stood in front of all of them clapping, by the time he stepped into the light, Light already knew who it was.
