Chapter 108: Feedback

"I-It seems as though Z-Zeldris is unable to continue..." Dead silence fell on the arena, the crowd stood still at the sound of the announcement. "...the winner... LIGHT WUTHERHORN!"

They exploded now, echoes of praise erupted from all ends of the arena, forcing a wide smile on Light’s face as he bowed shamelessly before them, he quickly moved towards the tunnels once more.

"Is that really Light Wutherhorn?"

"There’s no way he’s this strong!"

"I knew him as a child, he was always so weak, but what I’ve seen here today? Pheew!"

Light could hear the voices from multiple corners of the arena but he ignored them, they had all witnessed his power for themselves, there was no way they could deny him now.

He caught the gaze of the beautiful Anissa, who was equally cheering for him, she blew him a kiss and his cheek turned beet red as he walked back into the tunnels.

"Hahaha. That’s my boy! Light you have outdone yourself!" His mother shouted at the top of her voice as she applauded the young man, but his father remained stoic, facial expression unchanging. He only nodded twice when he saw that Light had defeated Zeldris.

The boy had finished one round, in the next round he would be up against another foe, the real determining factor will be whether he could win the tournament altogether.

That would remain a topic for later, Jacob watched as the red haired young man walked back into the tunnels and clapped for him, even though it was to be expected, it was still impressive to watch.

"Light! When did you get so strong?" Yannick asked the second the boy walked in, his eyes were wide like he had just seen a ghost.

Light only chuckled and asked, "What do you mean, brother?"

"I mean, you’re very strong now, what was that technique, and what were those powers. I-I mean... I know you told me and all, but what I just witnessed... was crazy." Yannick stumbled over his words a little.

His other brothers looked at him with wide eyes as well, as they also couldn’t believe that the boy had gained so much power.

"Well, I don’t really know how... plus, I also trained with Jacob, so that might have helped." Light responded, feigning nonchalance.

"Jacob? You mean the Ironfell boy? That reminds me, I still haven’t spoken to him properly." Yannick started, placing his chin between his index finger and his thumb, pondering about something. "I’ll do that after the tournament for sure.

The next draws were to take place in a couple minutes and the contestants would soon know who they were facing.

The dark city of Helmand rested in a realm devoid of sunlight, burning fire was the only source of illumination in the halls as Morbius walked through them once again.

His steps echoing against the walls as he muttered something to himself, he was on his way to give detailed feedback on his ’Surveillance Mission.’

Even though he thought something like that was far beneath him, he wouldn’t hesitate to obey the demon king, as he had almost lost his life and his reason for living.

He wanted to be of service in any way possible, and if it meant taking on mundane jobs just to please his master, he would do so to the best of his abilities.

"My liege, I have returned with details from the mission." Morbius knelt on one knee and bowed his head.

He was nothing, if not a fateful servant, he lived and died to please the Demon King. That was his sole purpose.

"Speak up Morbius, before I force the words out of you." The voice bellowed from deep within the chambers.

Morbius himself had only seen the Demon King once, more than anyone else after his banishment,

But still the Demon King could not trust Morbius, as Morbius had a history of incompetence.

"Master, the person you seek is the grandchild of a familiar foe, The Ironfells. I encountered said grandfather at the World Tree, where he would go on to cause a number of problems." Said Morbius who still had his head down.

"And what do you think if this individual?"

"My master, he is the exact one you need to free you from this hellhole, the boy possesses infinite power... far surpassing anything I have ever seen." Morbius spoke witb a shaky voice, but he still managed to be eloquent.

"Good, study him some more, figure out his patterns, and what exactly he can do." The voice commanded at once, then faded away into nothingness just the way it had came.

"Right away master." Morbius concurred and scurried out of the room.

He respected and feared the Demon King, because up till now, he had yet to meet anyone stronger, either as an ally or an opponent.

He was genuinely frightened whenever he stepped in his presence.

He stepped out of the chambers and started his journey back to the Wutherhorn estate to study the boy some more.

He had told the Demon King only one part, he neglected to talk about how he knew that Jacob was aware of his presence. And how he would probably be dead if the boy had chosen to attack him.

Jacob wasn’t a fool, that much had been ascertained by Morbius, all that was left was to ad careful as possible.

He picked up a lit lamp and slowly walked towards the entrance of the castle.

Moving around was easy for Morbius as the Denon King had once bestowed upon him tbe ability to create portals, not just one, but up to four at once.

His Qi levels were extraordinary, which was why the Demon King had taken a liking to him.

With the flick of his wrist, a crimson warped portal appeared in front of him, a tear in reality.

He let out an exasperated sigh as he walked through the portal without hesitation, he longed to be free of this task.

As soon as his foot was on the other side, the large portal closed behind him and silence returned.
