Chapter 107: Light vs Zeldris 2
Blood trickld down the side of Zeldris’ head as he cracked his neck loudly and chuckled. "Well done! Wutherhorn. Let’s get serious now."
He instantly took a position, his legs spread and his feet facing opposite directions. He put his club in his mouth and bit down on it, clasping his hands together. Light wondered how the man could fit the width of that club handle in his mouth but he quickly waved the thought away.
This was Zeldris’ way if cultivating. He didn’t cross his legs or sit on the floor like the others. He stood straight up with his eyes open, a technique he had cultivated for years, he called it the Buddha Stance.
Light didn’t say anything to him, he simply raised his blade, the black sword hummed faintly in his grasp as wisps of dark and light energy flickered around it.
The arena was silent, every body watched in suspense and slight anticipation of what was going to happen next.
As a result of his eyes, Jacob could already see the end of this battle before most people, but he stayed quiet and only smiled, he wouldn’t want to spoil the fun.
"I’ll give it to you. You learned some fancy tricks in your time away, but you’ll have to do better than that." Zeldris roared, and then charged once more, the air parted on his large body as he zoomed through it.
Each step shattered the arena ground as a result of his large size. He ran toward Light, but Light stayed unmoved, calculating every step that the giant took.
The gap between them slowly closed, still Light didn’t move from his spot. Just as the giant reached him, he swung his large spiked club over his head, in an attempt to bring it crashing down on the young man.
"This ends now!" Zeldris roared as he brought the club down with overwhelming force. Light simply glanced at him, and just as it was about to connect, he vanished, gone from sight.
The club came crashing down forcefully on the ground like a falling mountain, shattering the earth beneath it into pieces.
BOOMM!
Pieces of rubble exploded into the sky as a crater appeared beneath the impact.
"Where—" Zeldris looked around frantically for Light once again, by now it was obvious that the young man was much faster than him.
A voice answered from behind him. "Too slow."
SCHINNGG!
A clean slash appeared across the giant’s shoulder, causing him to wince in pain, before he could even react, another tore at his ribs, then another, and another.
The attacks were cutting him deeply this time around, each slash causing him to groan painfully as he took multiple steps back, unable to ascertain where the attacks were coming from.
Light had merely become nothing more than faint streaks of white and flashes of darkness.
Each appearance lasted less than a heart beat, and each disappearance left another injury on Zeldris’ body.
The large man swung his club around frantically, hoping to hit something, but his attacks only struck empty air.
Light dodged, dancing between light and shadow themselves, the audience watched in awe as the giant was left bamboozled by this young Wutherhorn’s movements.
In one moment, he appeared from Zeldris’ shadow, striking his skin hard with his sword, in another moment, he appeared out of a sun beam that shone down on the arena floor.
He became impossible to predict.
"Stand still fucker!" Zeldris yelled as he swung his body around, his blood dripping all over the arena floor and confusion etched onto his face.
Zeldris roared in frustration and slammed his club into the ground repeatedly, over and over, causing the ground to crack in multiple places and Light to retreat a couple paces.
The giant was breathing heavily now, his vision had begun to blur and his arms felt heavier than before. Due to his exertion, his stamina was catching up to him.
’He’s finally reached his limit.’ Light mused after observation.
Light pointed his sword towards a tired and worn out Zeldris. His plan had succeeded on the front of tiring out the huge man.
Now was time for the final blow.
Two dark tendrils emerge from the ground beneath Zeldris and pointed at him, forming two sharp blades.
"W-What is this?" The giant man asked as he watched the two dark blades in front of him. He instinctively tried to step away, but he discovered himself unable to move from his spot, he stood in a spot where the sun beams reflected off the earth.
His shadow was suddenly gone, as though it had been eclipsed by the light.
Light inhaled slowly, his sword screamed for blood in his grasp. The light energy in the surrounding merged easily with the darkness that was on his blade. Two opposing forcing intertwining without rejecting each other.
Light opened his eyes completely, one was white, the other was dark, just like they had been when he fought the Frost Lion in the Ten Thousand Beast Forest.
His brothers also watched, they couldn’t believe their eyes at what they were witnessing, how did their brother become so powerful.
Yannick, however, wasn’t too surprised, he was probably the only one that had talked to Light up close and personally since the young man’s return, and he could sense the immense power flowing through him.
Anissa clutched at her chest for the umpteenth time, her eyes wide with surprise as Light pulled off such a display before her presence.
She became even more drawn to him in that moment, her body responding in ways that she couldn’t understand.
As the light energy swirled around Light’s sword, he took one last look at Zeldris, who had fear written all over his face.
He vanished from his spot and instantly appeared in front of the man.
"ECLIPSE SEVER!" Light yelled as he swung his light imbued blade upward in one graceful arc at the man’s chest, while the two tendril blades swung diagonally at Zeldris’ chest in an ’X’ motion.
There was no explosion, there was only silence as Light sheathed his blade and walked towards the tunnel immediately without even looking back.
Zeldris’ body showed no sign of a cut or injury until..
A pool of blood suddenly exploded from his body, clearing any doubts that the people had as to whether Light missed his wing or not.
Zeldris eyes rolled backwards, his knees buckled beneath him, and he dropped face down to the floor helplessly.
