Chapter 495: Chapter 495: Apology
Finn Bond glanced at Warren Prescott and recognized him.
Indeed, he had called someone from the Prescott Family.
Great, now both the Prescott and Xavier families will see Ashley Shaw’s true colors, saving the Bond Family from her badmouthing and sabotage later on.
After Warren Prescott explained why he arrived so quickly, he finally asked Ashley Shaw what happened.
Although Ashley Shaw hadn’t explained clearly on the phone, people usually wouldn’t come to the security department of a hospital unless something had happened.
Ashley Shaw briefly recounted the events, and Claire Xavier added, "There are surveillance cameras in the elevator. Watching them will reveal who’s really lying."
As she spoke, Claire Xavier kept giving Ivy Bond a scrutinizing sidelong glance.
As expected, she saw the guilt in Ivy Bond’s eyes, which she thought she had hidden well.
The security department staff, seeing both parties present, began to rewind the surveillance footage.
Finn Bond’s expression was calm, with a slight sense of satisfaction.
At the time, Ivy Bond had rushed into the elevator so suddenly that he hadn’t initially seen her trying to assault Ashley Shaw. By the time he followed her into the elevator, he only saw Ariana Grant fiercely gripping Ivy Bond’s hand.
So he wasn’t worried about the surveillance posing any threat to them.
But Ivy Bond knew very well that she was the one who tried to start the fight from the beginning.
She glanced nervously at the intimidating Warren Prescott and tugged on her brother’s sleeve.
"Brother..."
"Don’t be afraid. Once we check the footage, let’s see what they have to say."
"No, brother, I think we should just let this go..."
Finn Bond frowned.
Let it go?
That’s not his sister’s style.
His sister was never one to let go of a grudge. Why the sudden change of heart?
Because she’s afraid of Warren Prescott?
He looked at Warren Prescott, a guy five or six years younger than him, yet with no trace of immaturity, exuding a natural gravitas and aura.
Even without considering the Prescott Family background, his arrogance and dignity, along with his all-knowing eyes, certainly commanded respect.
But there was no need to fear him. As they say, the righteous man fears no shadow.
No matter how powerful the Prescott Family is, surely even they can tell right from wrong?
This confidence led Finn Bond to miss the signals in Ivy Bond’s eyes.
By then, the security staff had finally queued the surveillance footage.
Everyone except Warren Prescott watched—he didn’t look because he believed Ashley Shaw’s account.
Taking the worst-case scenario, even if Ashley Shaw lied, so what?
If she did something wrong, he would handle it.
Or perhaps it’s because anything she does is never wrong in his eyes.
At this point, the footage had revealed the truth.
The truth was Ivy Bond shoved her way into the elevator from outside, looking to claw at Ashley Shaw’s face.
Her target was clear: she aimed to scratch Ashley Shaw’s face.
It was Ariana Grant who intervened at the last second, grabbing Ivy Bond’s hand as it reached out towards Ashley Shaw’s face.
Later, Finn Bond came in and, without a second thought, shoved Ariana Grant hard.
Ariana Grant stumbled, but Ashley Shaw caught her, preventing her from falling.
With the truth laid bare, Ivy Bond lowered her head in deep embarrassment.
Finn Bond’s expression, initially calm, turned to outright shock in just two minutes.
He never imagined Ivy Bond had actually initiated the fight.
No wonder she suddenly suggested letting it go earlier.
He hadn’t caught on to her meaning, resulting in both their embarrassment.
Claire Xavier remained calm because she had anticipated this outcome.
She might not be familiar with Ivy Bond, but she certainly understood Ashley Shaw.
Watching the footage was just to give Finn Bond a reality check, a figurative slap in the face.
"Do you have anything else to say?" Claire Xavier asked Finn Bond.
Ivy Bond needn’t be managed anymore; she knew from the start what she had done.
Finn Bond snapped out of his shock, his mind becoming a jumble of panic.
"I, she..."
"Apologize," Claire Xavier said dismissively.
Finn Bond, protective of his sister as he was, understood reason better than Ivy Bond did.
After brief awkwardness and hesitance, he forced himself to speak, "I’m sorry, Miss Shaw. I misunderstood you."
Ashley Shaw unfazed reminded him, "It wasn’t me you pushed; you should apologize to my friend."
Reluctantly, Finn Bond apologized again, "I’m sorry. Were you hurt? If so, then I’m willing to cover any medical expenses."
Ariana Grant impatiently waved it off, "Forget it! Let’s just say nothing happened."
Finn Bond glanced at Claire Xavier, waiting for her to ease the tension.
Claire Xavier, however, ignored his look, gazing out the security office window.
With no other option, Finn Bond said, "I was really mistaken this time. Please be patient with my sister. Patients tend to have emotional fluctuations..."
Ashley Shaw was about to respond when Warren Prescott’s voice cut through, cold and sharp.
"And if she were to kill someone, would you ask the victim’s family to forgive her illness too?"
Finn Bond was taken aback; he hadn’t expected Warren Prescott to be so blunt.
He turned to Claire Xavier again.
This time, Claire Xavier finally looked at him, then towards Ivy Bond.
"Ivy Bond, your brother apologized. Now it’s your turn to apologize to Ashley and Ariana."
Ivy Bond bit her lip, looking like the wronged party.
Ariana Grant couldn’t stand Ivy Bond’s kind of person.
Those who did wrong,却 make it seem like others owe them.
"Ivy... Just apologize to them properly."
Finn Bond understood his sister’s stubbornness, but with the Prescott and Xavier families present, appearances had to be maintained.
Yet Ivy Bond couldn’t say "Sorry" no matter how hard she tried.
Not just because of today, but because of Cillian Xavier.
Though Cillian Xavier had accepted her confession, she grew increasingly aware that ever since he knew about her illness, he was merely accommodating a "patient’s" feelings.
He didn’t love her at all.
Last night, Cillian had stayed by her bedside in the hospital room.
When she returned from the bathroom in the middle of the night, she heard him whispering in his sleep.
Out of curiosity, she leaned closer to listen.
What she heard, was Ashley Shaw’s name.
At that moment, she wanted to kill Ashley Shaw, feeling the world’s unfairness so strongly.
Now she’s supposed to apologize to Ashley Shaw?
There’s no way she could say it.
Over there, Ashley Shaw looked at Ivy Bond, fed up.
What mattered was not the apology but ensuring there’d be no repeat events that wasted her time.
About to say, "Forget it, you can all leave," Warren Prescott coldly interjected again, "If she won’t apologize, then so be it. But Ms. Grant, pass a message to your parents: Mind your own business. If they have this much free time to meddle, worry they might fall too behind on their own company matters."
