Chapter 496: Chapter 496: I Have a Wife

The words were euphemistically spoken, but everyone except Ivy Bond among their acquaintances understood.

The implication was: if you keep meddling with the Bond Family’s affairs, be cautious of the Xavier Family’s company.

Finn and Ivy Bond were clearly taken aback.

They had the privilege of being airlifted to Concordia for hospitalization; the best doctors at Concordia were appointed as Ivy Bond’s attending physicians; and the best medications could be airlifted from abroad right away...

This might have been partly due to Finn’s efforts, but it relied more on the Xavier Family.

If the Xavier Family were to cease supporting them, Ivy Bond’s downfall was almost predictable.

Finn’s face turned pale in an instant, but he felt that Claire Xavier wouldn’t be as indifferent as Warren Prescott, ignoring their survival.

However, the next second, Claire Xavier said calmly, "I understand your reminder, I will call my parents later."

Finn sharply raised his eyelids, looking at Claire Xavier in disbelief.

Claire Xavier also glanced over at him.

"Why are you still standing there? Don’t you need to do a check-up? Take her over."

Finn felt uneasy but couldn’t directly question under the presence of Warren Prescott and had to take the oblivious Ivy Bond away.

Once the Bond siblings left, Claire Xavier’s face blossomed with a smile.

"They said you were going abroad for a project, when did you get back?"

Warren Prescott had a slight warmth on his face: "Mid last month."

Claire Xavier nodded: "It’s good to gain experience, you’ll understand what you don’t know, eventually."

"Yeah."

"Alright, then I’m off. After today, they should not dare to bother Ashley anymore. Ashley, we’ll stay in touch?"

Ashley Shaw nodded: "Sure. Contact me when you’re free."

"Alright. See you!"

Ariana Grant also waved with a smile.

This left the security room’s people confused.

Weren’t they just threatening this ’Xavier’ earlier? How come as soon as those two left, they began chatting and laughing?

Was it all a show for the siblings?

Anyway, since the matter had been resolved, as long as it didn’t escalate, all would be well.

Someone from the security room asked cheerfully, "Do you have any other matters to address?"

"Nothing else. Let’s go."

Ariana Grant nodded and noticed Warren Prescott standing beside Ashley Shaw, suddenly smacked her own head, "Oh! Aunt Talbot is still waiting for us! Ashley, go and grab the phone, I’ll go find Aunt Talbot."

"Okay."

The group split up.

Ariana Grant went to find Jane Tate, while Ashley Shaw and Warren Prescott headed upstairs to help grab the phone for Jane Tate.

Back in the elevator, Ashley Shaw started, "I thought things would get very troublesome, that’s why I called you over."

Warren Prescott showed a hint of amusement and said sincerely, "Ashley, I’m really glad that you choose to come to me first when something happens."

As he said this, his eyes were crescent-shaped, a look that Ashley Shaw had never seen before. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Someone with a face as grand as his shouldn’t smile, lest it steals one’s soul.

Her breathing was chaotic, but her expression remained calm.

"I’m having dinner with Aunt Talbot later... she’s the doctor who has been looking after Ariana. If you’re not in a hurry to return, would you join us for a meal?"

Warren Prescott replied with a simple word: "Sure."

For safety’s sake, Ashley Shaw added, "You’re not in a rush to deliver the medicine, right?"

Warren Prescott said, "Grandpa’s medicine is enough for three more days, today’s just an early pickup."

"Hmm... His health... Have you visited him later?"

"I did." After a pause, he said, "He also knows about what happened to me abroad."

Ashley Shaw’s eyes widened instantly.

Warren Prescott didn’t wait for her to speak and immediately added, "He scolded me, although not frightened. He just said he would be moving to Aethelgard to keep an eye on me."

Elder Prescott didn’t enjoy living in the north; he wasn’t used to the dry climate there.

The decision to move to Aethelgard undoubtedly had to do with Warren Prescott.

"So, it does mean he’s pretty freaked out by you."

Warren didn’t deny it, "When I was younger, I was reckless... of course, it was due to being annoyed by you..."

Seeing Ashley Shaw look at him, he promptly explained, "I mean the old me, not the me now. Now, I wouldn’t get upset no matter what you do to me."

He seemed to know her thoughts before she even processed them, providing explanations for everything.

Ashley Shaw couldn’t help but think, how great would it have been if Warren Prescott had been honest from the start?

Then perhaps, maybe, they could have been happy together?

She settled her thoughts, dismissing the wild ideas, and asked, "Do you remember everything from this lifetime as well?"

Warren Prescott said, "Yes, I remember everything."

"So you two have merged into one?"

Ashley Shaw felt amazed, while Warren Prescott felt a bit awkward.

He wanted to say, "Aren’t you merged into one too?" but swallowed the words back.

Now that he was more enlightened, he wouldn’t say things easily that might upset Ashley Shaw.

Just then, the elevator arrived, and Ashley Shaw went to get the phone. When she reached the office, a doctor asked her, "Are you Ashley Shaw?"

Ashley Shaw nodded, "Yes, I’m here to grab Dr. Tate’s phone."

"No need," the doctor replied, "Director Tate has an emergency surgery and should be in the operating room already. She specifically asked me to wait here for you."

Ashley quickly put the phone back and asked the doctor, "How long will the surgery take? Did Dr. Tate say anything else?"

The doctor said, "Dr. Tate mentioned that the surgery will take over two hours and told you not to worry about her, and that she’ll treat you all to a meal next time."

Knowing the patient comes first, Ashley Shaw didn’t say anything more, thanked the doctor for the reminder, and turned to leave.

Warren Prescott didn’t go inside and just waited in the hallway.

When Ashley Shaw came out, she saw two little nurses shyly trying to ask Warren for his WeChat.

Without changing his expression, Warren Prescott said, "Sorry, I’m married."

The two nurses were instantly shocked.

"You’re married? You look... so young."

"Yes, I married young." As he spoke, Warren Prescott spotted Ashley Shaw with the corner of his eye and his face immediately softens into a radiant expression: "Here comes my wife."

The two nurses followed Warren’s gaze and saw a slender figure approaching.

She was far beyond just "pretty" — her skin was as fair as jade, with a hint of pink, like a budding peach blossom.

Beyond her exquisite appearance, there was an inherent grace that made people want to approach, yet afraid to profane.

Looking back at Warren, handsome and tall, they seemed like a match made in heaven.

The two nurses, knowing they stood no chance, smiled awkwardly and walked away quickly.
