Chapter 494: Chapter 494: True Colors
The security department personnel were conducting routine questioning.
"What happened?"
Finn Bond raised Ivy Bond’s hand again: "They injured my sister’s hand. I demand compensation and an apology, but they refuse."
The security personnel immediately looked disapprovingly at Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant.
"What’s going on? Why are you getting physical with a patient? Is the hospital a place for fighting?"
Ashley Shaw said, "You got it wrong. It’s them who tried to hit us, not the other way around."
The security personnel said, "Then what about you, where were you hit?"
Ashley Shaw hesitated briefly, then said, "We reacted quickly and didn’t get hit by her."
The security personnel frowned and said, "Since you weren’t hit, why did you attack her?"
Ashley Shaw said, "You’ve seen her hand injury. We grabbed her hand to stop her from hitting us, that’s how she got hurt."
Ariana Grant nodded repeatedly, "We didn’t hit anyone."
"But in fact, her hand is injured... Anyway, no matter what, why don’t you apologize, and then negotiate how much to pay, and then this matter will be settled."
Ashley Shaw realized that these people just wanted to smooth things over quickly and didn’t want to "administer justice" seriously.
Ariana Grant spoke up at this moment, "I’ll apologize. I’m the one who grabbed her hand, I apologize."
Just as she was about to bow, Ashley Shaw stopped her.
"If we did nothing wrong, there’s no need to apologize."
It’s true that Ivy Bond is ill, and because of this, Ashley had tolerated Ivy more than once.
But in the end, Ivy’s illness wasn’t caused by her, and she had no obligation to tolerate her forever.
She didn’t owe Ivy anything.
The next moment, Ashley Shaw took out her phone and dialed a number she knew by heart.
"Come to the association, I’m waiting at Concordia’s security department."
The person on the other end listened and asked nothing, only saying, "Give me three minutes."
This surprised Ashley Shaw.
Why only three minutes to get here?
Was he coming by rocket?
Ivy Bond didn’t know who Ashley Shaw had called, but hearing this made her inexplicably flustered.
Could it be she called Cillian Xavier?
Ivy Bond’s first thought was, what if Cillian Xavier saw her looking like this without any hair?
Only then did she think, who would Cillian side with if he came?
She nervously gripped Finn Bond’s sleeve.
"Brother..."
"Don’t worry, no matter who she called, today she must apologize to you."
Finn Bond had formed an opinion about Ashley Shaw at the last opening ceremony.
Or rather, he had harbored a strong dislike for her since Ivy Bond had complained about Ashley Shaw earlier.
Previously, he had many considerations, but now seeing his sister suffer a loss, nothing else mattered.
He didn’t care whom Ashley Shaw had called, but she wasn’t the only one who could call for reinforcements.
Finn Bond also took out his phone and dialed a number.
It was Claire Xavier’s number.
He knew Ivy Bond didn’t want Cillian Xavier to see her current state, so he called Claire to come instead.
"Brooke, are you still in the ward?"
"I am. Have you finished the check-up?"
"We ran into a bit of a situation here at the security department. Can you come over?"
"Sure, I’ll be right there."
The call ended, Finn Bond looked coldly at Ashley Shaw, "I heard you and Brooke are close. Perfect, I’ll bring her over to see your true colors."
It’s best if Ashley Shaw called someone from the Prescott Family, then he could let the Prescott Family see just how petty Ashley Shaw truly was.
Once both families witnessed Ashley Shaw’s venomous true face, he wouldn’t have to fear her anymore.
Both sides were silently competing, and the security personnel were unable to do anything, so they simply sat down, waiting for both parties to bring their people over.
The best outcome for them was to resolve this privately. They dreaded the situation escalating, which would harm the hospital’s reputation.
Before long, the door to the security department was knocked.
"Come in."
The next moment, the door opened to reveal Claire Xavier’s weary face, as if she hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in a long time.
Lately, Claire had been taking care of Ivy Bond. While Ivy Bond only seemed a bit thinner, Claire was truly exhausted.
Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant had long known Finn Bond called Claire, so they weren’t surprised by her arrival.
But Claire Xavier, upon seeing Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant, clearly paused in surprise.
Before she could speak, Ivy Bond ran over crying, grabbing her hand.
"Brooke, they hit me!"
What a classic case of the offender playing the victim.
Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant’s faces darkened simultaneously.
Ariana Grant was about to explain, when Claire Xavier calmly pushed Ivy Bond’s hand away and said, "Ashley and the others aren’t like that. Are you sure there isn’t some misunderstanding?"
Ivy Bond’s expression changed, her face showing even greater grievance.
This time, without Finn Bond, she raised her bruised hand and said, "It’s no misunderstanding, it’s true. Look, my hand is all bruised."
Claire Xavier glanced over and said, "This injury wasn’t caused by being hit, was it? It looks more like... it was just held."
Finn Bond seized on the wording, "Held? Brooke, you can’t be so blatantly biased just because they’re your friends, right?"
Meeting Finn Bond’s gaze, Claire Xavier said, "I’m not biased. It’s you who don’t understand Ivy’s current condition. Her platelet count is many times lower than average. It’s not just holding her hand; even if she rests her hand on a table a bit roughly, it would bruise."
Perhaps fearing Finn Bond didn’t know what platelets were, she further explained that platelets are responsible for coagulation.
For a normal person, gum bleeding from brushing teeth stops within a minute.
But for Ivy Bond, it would take at least ten minutes to stop the bleeding.
"So, this is just from holding her hand, and that’s why there’s bruising."
She said as she walked over to Ashley Shaw and asked, "What exactly happened?"
Ashley Shaw recounted the incidents truthfully, making the Bond siblings immediately anxious.
"Brooke, it’s not like she said. Ivy didn’t do anything to her at all. I saw it very clearly; they were the ones who struck first."
Ivy Bond teary-eyed, "Brooke..."
Ariana Grant, furious, put one hand on her hip, pointed at the two of them, and swore, "You’re full of crap!"
Seeing the "who hit first" argument about to escalate, the security personnel finally said something useful: "Ladies and gentlemen... Actually, our hospital’s elevators are equipped with surveillance. We’ll know who started it by watching the footage."
Ivy Bond’s face turned white as she was trying to think of a way to brush off the suggestion of checking the surveillance, when the security department door suddenly was kicked open with a "thud——".
The loud noise startled everyone in the office, and even passersby couldn’t help but glance over.
The one who kicked the door in had a tightly furrowed brow, exuding an icy demeanor that seemed to say he’d kill whoever stood in his way.
If it wasn’t Warren Prescott, then who?
He arrived even faster than the promised three minutes.
He walked straight to Ashley Shaw without asking what had happened, merely explaining, "I was just coming to the hospital to get medicine for my grandfather."
Ashley Shaw nodded, no wonder he arrived so quickly.
