Chapter 88: 88- Yellow Chits

"Why didn’t you disappear the moment you saw us?" Hunter hissed as soon as Logan answered the call.

Logan seemed to choke on the other end, "Good morning to you, too, boss."

Hunter ignored the greeting, "I even texted you."

"Boss!" Logan sounded deeply hurt, "I didn’t have the slightest idea that you could visit a small coffee shop."

Hunter let out a mocking laugh while walking into his room, "Small coffee shops are the ones where I go. Okay? You were aware that your girlfriend knew me. And still..."

Hunter dropped into his chair and irritably loosened his tie, "You nearly exposed everything this afternoon."

"Boss!" Logan sounded offended, "Because of you, I had to visit a doctor afterward. I was coughing, so Maya thought my allergies were acting up. She got me injected."

Hunter started laughing quietly.

Logan continued the complaints, "When I saw them hugging, I wanted to take Maya far away, but they were too busy catching up. I had to fake a cough because Maya was about to tell her about you. But after that, she dragged me to a clinic."

Hunter leaned back in his chair with a grin, "You’re pathetic."

"Boss!" Logan had gotten serious now, "What if Sienna ma’am, finds out about your reality?"

Hunter’s smile softened as he thought of her.

"That won’t be a problem," He replied calmly, which made Logan go quiet.

Hunter tapped his fingers lightly against the desk before he spoke again, "I’m already planning to tell her soon."

That was followed by a long silence from Logan.

"Y... you what?" His poor secretary sounded shocked, "What’s going on? How come you..."

Hunter didn’t say anything. For some odd reason, he wanted to go downstairs and see what she was doing.

He was already missing her.

"Boss!" Amusement was evident in Logan’s voice, "Are you..." he cleared his throat, "Are you in lo..."

"Finish that sentence, and you’re fired, Logan," Hunter said silkily, yet he chewed his lower lip to keep himself from smiling.

Sienna Mason. You’re the death of me.

"Where is Hunter?" Sienna called out to Brian, who was busy cleaning the kitchen counters. He shrugged, moving the pan into the dishwasher.

"He went out and said he would be back within an hour."

With a nod, Sienna looked around, "I can’t find my charger."

"Give me a few minutes, and I’ll search it for you. Must be lying around."

Sienna saw him spraying the counters busily and thought of going to Hunter’s room upstairs. This morning she went there to call him from breakfast. Might be possible, she left her charger there.

The moment she stepped in, she was taken aback by how organized his room was. She walked further inside while her gaze moved around the room.

"Seriously! What is he? A robot?" She looked at his neat work desk near the window and thought in confusion whether she should move his stuff around.

She walked towards it absentmindedly when something caught her attention.

A yellow florescent colored paper-chit sticking halfway out of a black diary. Hunter’s diary. Sienna froze.

The chit looked strangely familiar. Her hands twitched slightly. Should she touch his stuff without his permission? Wasn’t it a breach of privacy?

With a sigh, she reached forward, intending to push it back inside without looking—

But the diary slipped from her fingers and fell on the floor with a thud. Several fluorescent chits were scattered across the floor.

"What the fuck!" She cursed under her breath and bent down quickly to collect them. Then her eyes landed on one.

She is a whore.

Then another one said:

Leave her, you deserve better.

Another one:

She is in a relationship with Tom.

Last one:

She hooks up with everyone.

With a sinking heart, she kept reading all the chits one by one.

Old memories from her previous life rushed back.

In her previous life, someone had posted such chits to Tom as well. At that time, one of them read like: She is in a relationship with Hunter.

Tom started becoming more violent after receiving such messages.

In this life, someone was again slandering her character.

In her past life, she later realized it must be Ruby because she was living with them.

If this is Ruby’s doing, how is she managing it now? She doesn’t even live in this house.

Her chest tightened painfully. How long had he been receiving these? Did he read all of them? Why didn’t he come to her and ask her about those?

When everything around her blurred, she realized she was crying. With shaking hands, she placed those paper pieces back into his diary and placed it back on his study table.

With trembling legs, she managed to come down and went back to her room.

Sitting on the floor, her back rested against the closed door. Why didn’t he tell her?

A bitter laugh escaped her lips. Maybe deep down, Hunter also doubted her. And the thought hurt more than she expected.

A while later, she heard the front door open, followed by Brian’s loud voice.

"Hunter. Sienna was looking for her charger."

Hunter said something that she couldn’t hear, and then a knock landed on the door, "Hey, sugar. Your charger was in between the sofa cushions. I’ve gotten it. And please come out. Dinner is ready."

Sienna tried to steady her breathing at his voice. She had gotten so used to him that she wanted to race out and hug him tight.

She needed a cold shower so that she could look normal, or he would instantly guess that she’d been crying.

"Sugar?" She got up and tried to steady her voice.

"H...Hunter... I’ll be out in a few minutes. On a call with Lina." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

He seemed to buy the excuse because he didn’t call her again. She quickly took a shower and made herself presentable by applying some makeup.

However, as soon as she left the room, Hunter’s brows furrowed slightly, "You’ve been crying?"

Good God. How can he see through me? Does he have X-ray vision fit into his eyes?

"Not at all!" She tried to look confident and walked to her chair, ignoring the fact that he was studying her carefully.
