Chapter 1198: Last ditch effort

A low growl came out and reverberated into the room. It caused the ground itself to shake.

These Nascent Spirit cultivators felt the cores in their chest tighten, as if it had just been pounced upon by a tiger, looking directly at its maws.

This kind of reaction came from instinct itself. People found themselves holding their breaths in fear. Even though they were Nascent Spirit cultivators, with powers that could rewrite reality itself, they still felt as if they were in the presence of a divine being sending down its orders.

The violet, gassy hand stopped in its place. The Rebornian opposition controlling it felt his own power constrict. His face twisted in pain as he felt the power in his hands start to feel the effects.

Losing all of its momentum, the violet hand stalled in the air. It couldn’t move! Its speed, which should have been comparable to lightspeed, had slowed down significantly, to the point where even a snail could outpace it!

Jaku stood with one of his hands outstretched to stop the violet hand, and the other lazily yawning. Thanks to Michael’s warning, he was able to use his Ancient Roar at the very last second, stopping the violet hand just before it destroyed the assassins’ hearts.

"ANCIENT ROAR!" Eldea shouted out, jumping up from her seat.

She looked at the dark blue-scaled Dragonborn who uttered that voice.

And she couldn’t help but smile like a little child.

It was true! She’d seen it before, but it was only now that she could truly witness it herself.

It affected even her! She felt her speed sapped, as if it was taken away by some kind of almighty. This kind of power was beyond anything that any Aubility Power could muster. It was as if it was the law of the universe itself!

Eldea couldn’t help but find this incredibly fascinating!

However, not everyone was as entertained by Jaku’s show of power. The Rebornian opposition paled as they truly realized that Eldea wasn’t bluffing her words.

And even if their plans failed, they didn’t regret trying to assassinate the Dragonborn. It was clear that Jaku was only in the Body Formation realm. Yet, even he was able to stop a Nascent Spirit attack with just his words!

They only regretted that they hadn’t put more power into the assassination. If they were going to go this route, then they should have gone all in!

They should have used every single one of their armies in order to kill the Dragonborns, nip the problem in the bud.

But now, it was too late. The Dragonborn had shown his true power in front of everyone, scaring them.

The other Upper Echelon leaders eyed Jaku with complicated expressions. On the one hand, they were impressed that a power from the Ancient Era had finally resurfaced in the modern world. And on the other hand, they were afraid of what he could do.

Even Gourdon and Wadeby couldn’t help but take a step back as they watched Jaku.

One thing was clear though. They were very glad that they had allied themselves with the Reborn company. They struggled to even imagine being on the other side of this battle.

It was at this point that Jaku’s face twisted as his throat started to hurt. As expected, using his Ancient Roar against a Nascent Spirit cultivator was way too much for him to maintain for a long time.

In real time, Jaku’s disruption of the violet hand could only realistically happen in the span of a few milliseconds.

"Kill those assassins!"

Feeling that indescribable weight suddenly lifted, the Rebornian opposition commanded his violet hand to rush towards the assassins.

Eldea’s eyes narrowed, her hand on the hilt of her sword. With the interruption, she could cut that violet hand in twine.

However, it was then that she noticed something.

She looked towards Michael and saw his face as calm as it was before. Devoid of any panic even as Jaku struggled to keep his Ancient Roar active.

It was then that she noticed his eyes. His gaze. It was directed towards the two female Dragonborn by Jaku’s side.

The white-scaled one made eye contact with Michael. And the two of them nodded to each other in understanding.

It was as if this was still all a part of their plan!

Eldea’s eyes widened. She had a guess in her heart about what was going to happen. But she just couldn’t believe it.

And in the end, she let her curiosity win. She released her grip on her sword and let things unfold as Michael planned.

She watched intently as the two Dragonborns opened their mouths.

Eldea’s anticipation rushed up.

"You Dare."

"No killing please."

Sheina and Umisu’s voice were the complete opposite of each other. One was demanding, strict. The other gentle and pleading.

Yet both resounded into the room with the same power, intensity, and weight as Jaku’s words. Perhaps even greater.

Once again, everyone felt their cores constrict. The Aubility Power in their bodies struggled to obtain control. Fighting. Resisting against their commands.

This was much more so to the Rebornian opposition controlling the violet hand of death.

Suddenly, the Nascent Power inside hand lowered, condensing, releasing into the lower Nascent Spirit stages before eventually reaching the boundary between Body Formation and Nascent Spirit.

But this wasn’t even the only thing the opposition struggled with.

Suddenly, the man felt darkness consume everything around him. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t feel. He couldn’t hear. He couldn’t even sense his own Nascent Core!

It was as if he had become nothing but a soul floating in the chasm of nothingness.

This caused the violet hand of death to veer off its original course, steering away from the assassins and straight towards Michael.

The golden projector turned into nanoparticles before immediately surging towards Michael, forming a round shield.

The hand crashed against the golden shield. Nanoparticles surged again, consuming the gaseous violet hand until it was completely destroyed.

"Ancient Roar... all of them... they all have it..."
