Chapter 1199: Cuffing the guilty

After this complete turn of events, the whole summit was silent. The Upper Echelons leaders, the soldiers guarding them, and even the small group of Draconians watching the whole fiasco from a window. They were flabbergasted as to what they just witnessed.

It was already a complete shock to learn that the dark-scaled demi-human truly had the Ancient Roar. But to learn that all three of them had it was an insane thought.

After all, this meant that it wasn’t just Jaku who was special. It was their bloodline. Their species. It was completely possible that all Dragonborns had the possibility of awakening an Ancient Roar!

The implications of this discovery was daunting. They’d already witnessed the power of an Ancient Roar right in front of their very eyes. They felt its oppressing power. Now what if there were not just three of them? But five? Ten? A whole army?

It was a terrifying thought. One that made people think differently about the Reborn company.

Many assumed that they were just an organization who got lucky with their inventions. They might have conquered the business aspect of an Upper Echelon. But that didn’t mean they were ready to compete with them.

But this completely turned everything on its head. Now, they were thinking of the Reborn company as a powerful military organization!

With the youngest Nascent Spirit cultivator as their leader and with three Dragonborns with Ancient Roars by his side, it was very clear that the Reborn company wouldn’t be so easy to defeat as they thought.

They’d proved that here.

"Any more questions?" Michael asked as the golden nanoparticles slithered back into his arms, sinking into his skin and disappearing.

Eldea stood up and immediately pointed at Reborn’s opposition. "Guards, arrest them immediately."

Her words caused the double doors in the room to explode inwards as lines of Knights and soldiers came in marching inside. Their glistening weapons and armors deterred anyone from blocking their way.

"No... no... wait, this is a misunderstanding! I was just, I was just—"

Sir Oliver eyed the man. "Be smart about this. Don’t dig your grave any deeper."

The Rebornian opposition was a Nascent Spirit cultivator, after all. If he truly wanted to, he could have escaped from the grasps of these Knights and soldiers.

But that would only serve as more evidence for his persecution. And if he truly did try to escape, he was sure that the Heavenly Swordmistress would bring upon her heavy sentence towards his neck.

So, he surrendered himself, knowing that he had lost.

"You too," said Sir Oliver. "You might not have attacked directly and tried to tamper with evidence, you are all still a suspect of an assassination attempt. Please come with us."

He pointed to the rest of the Rebornian opposition, the very ones caught talking amongst each other with plans to take out the Dragonborns.

They too surrendered without any qualms. They’d embarrassed themselves enough. Not only that, but if they just let one of them get arrested, then they may say something untrue to save himself.

Basically, they were worried he was going to snitch.

And so, the guards and soldiers escorted these Upper Echelon leaders out of the room, their heads down and looking completely despondent.

They were done. Political lives ruined.

There was very good reason to believe that they were going to get prosecuted by the Montgomerys for their crimes.

And once they do, their companies would drop them like flies. They would completely separate themselves from these people, even if they were the leaders and founders of that company. It was the only way to save thousands of lives and jobs.

Then, their heirs would probably inherit their companies. But such an abrupt inheritance would quickly create a lot of weaknesses within the company, which would be taken advantage of by the other Upper Echelon companies.

Those who sided with Reborn would get rewarded for their choice. Now, they could easily move up the Golden Ranking spots and take over the rankings of those who had been arrested. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Of course, there was the added bonus of now being on good terms with Reborn. With such an unforgettable showing, it was very clear that Reborn’s dominance would only continue from now onwards.

Not to mention, there was still the matter of the automobiles. In fact, that was one of the main reasons why so many quickly changed their opinions about Reborn, why they sided with him so easily.

Automobiles would become critical in this time period. No magic meant no transportation. If you didn’t have an armada of trucks with you, your company would be dead in the water.

No one knew how long this magic-less world would continue on for. Those Anti-Reborn factions clearly believed that it would be solved soon, so they didn’t need to cozy up to Reborn.

But on the off-chance that it was going to be permanent, they needed to get ahead of the curve before everyone else.

"Amazing, young man. Michael, was it? With such talent, you’re sure to rise like the sun!"

"Are you perhaps looking for some partners regarding some mining mineral ores? I can provide you with it for a discounted price!"

"Please expect a generous gift at your headquarters by the end of the week. It’s just a gesture of good will now that you’re going to be amongst the Upper Echelons."

The man’s words were not rejected by the other leaders. By now, they accepted the fact that Reborn would become part of the elites.

The Dragonborns were also given their own praise, albeit with a little bit of fear. Most of these Nascent Spirit cultivators have never felt their Aubility Powers fail like that before. So, the fact that these Dragonborns could do it at the snap of a finger was terrifying.

Infernus, on the other hand, spread his hands wide and exclaimed, "Beautiful! How beautiful!"

Jaku immediately stepped forward as Infernus tried to hug all three of them. In the end, he was the only one hugged.

"Beauty of the past! Beauty in the present! Such a wonderful marriage! Would you all like to go to the Draconian Continent?"

"Giving away invitations like that... you sure have gotten ballsy."
