Chapter 1337: Chapter 1337: I Won’t Be So Childish Anymore
Looking at her mother standing at the gate in the yard, Evelyn Taylor took a deep breath to ease her discomfort. Only then did she pull out the car keys, get out, and walk toward her mom.
"Mom! I kept my promise, didn’t I?" As she walked over, she tried to appear a bit more relaxed.
"Yes, you did." Harriet White greeted her daughter with a smile. At that moment, she suddenly realized a truth — nothing is more reassuring than her daughter’s health and safety.
In her heart, she secretly vowed never to force her daughter to go on blind dates again. She wanted to give Evelyn her freedom and let her develop as she wished.
Evelyn couldn’t guess her mom’s thoughts, but she could tell her mother seemed much calmer than before; there was no sign of any anger on her face.
"Mom! I’m sorry! I worried you. I won’t be so childish from now on." She reached out to hold her mom’s arm, admitting her mistake willingly.
"Mom’s just worried about you, but you haven’t done anything to be sorry for." Harriet tilted her head and smiled at Evelyn, surprised by her daughter’s initiative to apologize. Despite the surprise, she felt particularly relieved.
Evelyn already felt somewhat guilty, and hearing these words made her even more self-conscious, "I’ll make sure not to worry you anymore, Mom! Don’t worry, I’ll definitely find a boyfriend, not a pretend one, but a real boyfriend."
She added this special remark as she finished speaking.
"Mom believes you will find a boyfriend." Harriet reached out and patted Evelyn’s arm before tilting her head to look at her daughter. "Mom won’t pressure you to go on blind dates anymore. Whenever you bring your boyfriend home, that’s when Mom will prepare your dowry."
This was her promise to her daughter and also her firm resolution to herself.
As soon as she said this, Evelyn’s face showed a sudden expression of surprise, her eyes wide open, "Mom! Are you really serious? You’re really not going to force me to go on blind dates anymore?"
The surprise came so suddenly that she felt very unreal, like she was dreaming.
"Yes! Mom is serious. Mom really won’t pressure you to go on blind dates anymore." Seeing her daughter’s startled and incredulous expression, Harriet felt deeply emotional, realizing what she’d done these days to push her precious daughter to this point.
After receiving her mother’s firm answer, Evelyn knew she wasn’t dreaming; what she heard was real. She happily hugged her mom, "Thank you! Mom!"
From now on, she wouldn’t have to stress about meeting blind dates anymore, now she was finally free.
"No need to be so formal with Mom." Seeing her daughter so happy, Harriet knew her impromptu decision was the right one and opened her arms to hug Evelyn back.
After the excitement, Evelyn suddenly realized a serious issue: she had agreed to visit the Fisher Family just a few hours ago.
"Mom! What about Auntie Li? Auntie Li is still expecting me to visit her house." She gently pushed away from her mother’s embrace, looking at her mom with a worried expression.
"Don’t worry, I’ll handle your Aunt Li." Actually, even before Evelyn spoke, Harriet had already thought of this.
