Chapter 1336: Chapter 1336: We’re All Worried About You

After joking with her best friend for a while, Evelyn Taylor hung up the phone. At this moment, she felt much better than before.

She turned her head to look outside the car window and suddenly felt that her impulsive decision to run away was childish. She was already thirty years old, yet she resorted to the runaway tactic that only young girls tend to pull.

Evelyn realized her immaturity, but she couldn’t muster the courage to return on her own. Sitting in the car, she didn’t know where to go for a moment.

Suddenly, the phone in her hand rang. Without much thought, she glanced at it and saw the word "Mom" flashing on the screen. Her eyes instantly lit up, bright as ever.

However, she didn’t answer the call immediately. She hesitated for quite a while, only picking up just before the system was about to hang up the call automatically.

"Hello!"

Though her heart was overwhelmingly joyful and excited, she pretended to be sulky and unhappy.

On the other side of the line, Harriet White couldn’t see Evelyn Taylor’s state but could only hear her sullen voice. Thinking Evelyn was still angry with her parents, Harriet hurriedly advised, "Evelyn! Don’t be mad at your dad and me. We’re doing this for your own good. Please don’t run around like this. Come back quickly; we’re really worried."

Her words were filled with concern and urgency.

"I’m not running around; I’m just wandering around the courtyard." Hearing her mom say she was worried, Evelyn immediately felt guilty, feeling sorry for her mom. Even at this age, she still made her mom worry. She suddenly started to dislike herself a little.

Harriet didn’t seem to believe Evelyn’s words. She was standing in the courtyard calling Evelyn and didn’t see her car at the gate, so she concluded that her daughter had driven away.

With this conclusion, her worry deepened. Her daughter had been extremely emotional when she left, and if something happened, it would be too late for regrets.

"Where in the courtyard are you? I’ll come find you now." Harriet spoke while already walking towards the courtyard gate, unwilling to risk the chance of regret after something happened.

"I’m at the gate of the courtyard. Don’t come out to find me. I’m heading back now." Evelyn heard Harriet’s panting over the phone, switched to speaker, and placed the phone on the dashboard for ease of conversation and updates for the person on the other end.

She restarted the car and turned back towards the courtyard.

Hearing the engine roar, Harriet started to believe Evelyn’s words. "Drive slowly, I won’t come out to look for you. I’ll wait for you inside the courtyard."

As she said this, she had already reached the courtyard gate, stopping there to wait for her daughter to return.

Only when she saw her daughter return safely would Harriet be able to relax and go back inside.

"You’ll see me in two minutes." Evelyn spoke to her mother over the phone while driving swiftly towards home.

Harriet didn’t say anything else, but she also didn’t hang up the phone. She kept it pressed to her ear, waiting for Evelyn’s return.

Two minutes later, she indeed saw her daughter driving back. Seeing her daughter safely return, Harriet’s taut nerves instantly relaxed.

Seeing her mom waiting at the courtyard gate, Evelyn’s heart twisted painfully.
