Over the phone, Natalie Yates could feel Evelyn Taylor’s good mood, and her thoughts grew stronger, "So, do you like your brother Ning?"
She asked with a smile, but her expression was very serious. After asking, she quietly waited for the answer.
"Of course I like him." Evelyn Taylor blurted out without a moment’s thought.
"Since you both like each other, why not make it real? That would completely solve your troubles." Upon hearing Evelyn say she liked him, Natalie immediately suggested excitedly on the other end of the phone.
Hearing this, Evelyn casually retorted, "He likes someone else, how can we make it real?"
Speaking of this, she let out a deep sigh.
"Didn’t you say he likes you? Now you’re saying he likes someone else? What’s going on?" Natalie was confused by Evelyn, sometimes he liked her, other times another person came up, she understood the literal meaning but didn’t quite get the actual situation.
Upon hearing this, Evelyn realized that her friend misunderstood and quickly explained, "He only likes me as a sister."
Everyone treats her like a sister – does she really have a sister-like vibe?
"Likes you as a sister? Tell me, dear, what’s the deal with this? Why does everyone see you as a sister?" As soon as she said it, Natalie realized she might have touched on a sensitive point and quickly added, "Let’s find men from a different circle, don’t just stick around your brother’s friends."
Both of them were close friends of her brother’s good buddies; no wonder this situation came up.
She truly thought her friend should seek connections outside the circle of those brothers; she believed Evelyn’s charm could undoubtedly find a suitable man.
"I’d like to find a different circle too, but all my life I’ve only known my brother’s best friends and comrades." Evelyn complained with her tone, attitude, and expression—her whole demeanor radiated complaint.
Hearing this, Natalie joked, "My poor Evelyn, someday your big sis will find you an excellent man, guaranteed to satisfy you."
Her tone was playful, but her words were serious.
"Then I’ll really thank you, dear sister." Evelyn simply took it as her friend joking over the phone, and jokingly replied back.
Natalie knew Evelyn thought she was joking, but she didn’t clarify the misunderstanding, just smiled over the phone, "You don’t have to thank me now; wait until I bring the man to you, then you can thank me."
She didn’t seek thanks; she just wanted Evelyn to find a man she admired and gain happiness.
"Alright! I’ll definitely give you a big red envelope then." Evelyn still thought her friend was joking and didn’t take it seriously, replying in a joking tone.
Natalie didn’t explain further, just kept smiling, "Alright! I’ll wait for your big red envelope, don’t let me down."
Of course, she was joking about the envelope; she just wanted Evelyn to find happiness.
"I won’t let you down." Evelyn replied with a smile.
