Chapter 1334: Chapter 1334: He Likes Me So Much, He Couldn’t Even Dislike Me If He Tried

Evelyn Taylor stormed out of the house, without looking back, got into her car, and angrily drove away from home.

After driving out of the compound, she suddenly didn’t know where to go, so she pulled over to the side of the road, took out her phone from her bag, and dialed her best friend Natalie Yates.

"Evelyn! Is there something wrong?"

After a few rings, Natalie answered the phone.

Over the phone, Evelyn heard a lot of noise and the sounds of kids playing, "Are you playing with the kids?"

Amidst the sounds of children’s laughter coming from the other end, she recognized her best friend’s son’s voice.

"We just finished dinner and we’re outside for him to play with some friends for a while," Natalie said, and then asked, "Did you call me for something?"

Her best friend brought the topic back, asking again.

Hearing her friend playing with her son, Evelyn instantly gave up the idea of venting her frustrations to her friend. Just now, she thought about crashing at her friend’s place for the night, but she has now changed her mind, deciding not to disturb her friend’s family life.

"Nothing really, I just finished dinner and was bored, so I called to see what you’re up to." She effortlessly lied, almost admiring herself for it.

"Why don’t you go hang out with your Thomas?" Upon hearing Evelyn say it was just boredom that led her to call, Natalie immediately thought of this and said it out loud.

"Thomas was taken away by my brother." Evelyn’s words seemed like she was joking, but her expression showed no signs of joking, and her mood was extremely gloomy.

Since she was on the phone, Natalie couldn’t see Evelyn’s situation, nor could she glean anything from her tone.

She heard this and truly thought her friend was joking with her, so she made a joke, "Your Thomas was taken away by your brother, huh? That’s so lame; don’t say you’re my friend anymore, I feel embarrassed."

Afterward, she made a sound of disdain.

"Hearing you say that, I’m starting to feel embarrassed too. What should I do about it? I think feeling ashamed of oneself is a serious ailment that needs prompt attention, or it’ll become increasingly severe." Evelyn said this half-jokingly, half-seriously. After hearing her friend’s words, she indeed began to feel somewhat ashamed of herself.

She wasn’t quite sure exactly what she was ashamed about at the moment.

Natalie thought she was joking and didn’t consider her self-reproach at all, "Yes! Feeling ashamed of oneself is an ailment; you need to treat it quickly, or Thomas will be embarrassed by you."

As Evelyn’s best friend, Natalie often spent time with her, chatting and complaining together was a common occurrence.

Natalie understood the troubles and situation Evelyn was recently dealing with; she knew her good friend was pretending to be in a relationship with a man named Thomas Fisher, but she secretly wished the two of them would make it real.

She thought it would be a perfect scenario if they did.

"My Thomas wouldn’t be embarrassed by me; he likes me too much for that." Hearing Natalie’s words, Evelyn immediately said it with such zest, and at that moment, any traces of anger on her face vanished.
