Chapter 1338: Chapter 1338: Finding a Wife Is the Most Important Thing
That night, Harriet White called Autumn York and explained the backstory of Thomas Fisher and Evelyn Taylor pretending to be a couple over the phone.
Once Autumn York learned that Thomas Fisher and Evelyn Taylor had been pretending to be a couple for over two months, she felt a surge of anger and immediately called Thomas Fisher after finishing her call with Harriet White.
When Thomas Fisher picked up his mom’s call, he was happily drinking with his three brothers at the bar. After informing his brothers, he got up and left the booth to take the call.
"Hello..."
"You brat! Where exactly have you gone? Get home right now."
After the call connected and Thomas Fisher barely managed to say hello, Autumn York angrily interrupted him. Even over the phone, he could feel the raging anger of his mom.
He suspected that the only thing that could make his mom so mad was the matter of him and Evelyn Taylor pretending to be a couple. He figured his mom must have found out, but he wasn’t sure how exactly, and dared not make assumptions.
Thomas Fisher wasn’t afraid in the least; he was just worried that this might affect Evelyn Taylor. He didn’t mind getting scolded by his mom; even if she hit him, it wouldn’t matter because he was her own son.
"Mom! Right now I’m drinking with my three brothers. Can we talk about this tomorrow?" He truthfully explained his current situation to his mom over the phone, hoping she’d cut him some slack and not explode at him right now.
"No way! I need to talk to you now."
Autumn York was very stubborn and ignored Thomas Fisher’s suggestion completely. Her single-minded focus was on discussing the fake relationship issue, with an incredibly determined attitude, giving no room for negotiation.
Thomas Fisher was enjoying his time drinking with his brothers, but hearing his mom urging him to come home for questioning soured his mood, "I can’t go back now."
He definitely wasn’t going to go back now; he wanted to stay here and drink with his brothers rather than face his mom’s questioning.
"But I want you to come back right now." Autumn York’s attitude remained firm, with her words still very forceful.
Prompted repeatedly by his mom, Thomas Fisher’s mood worsened, "Just discuss what you need to over the phone because I really can’t go back now."
No matter where he was questioned, over the phone or face-to-face at home, the result would be the same for him.
"You brat, is drinking more important than finding a wife?" Repeatedly refused by her son, Autumn York’s anger boiled, but knowing others were around her son, she restrained from unleashing her fury directly.
Thomas Fisher didn’t hesitate before responding, "Finding a wife is the most important."
Finding a wife was indeed the most important to him, yet after more than four years, he still had no news of Sharon.
"Since finding a wife is the most important, then you better get back here now." Autumn York circled the conversation back to square one, demanding Thomas Fisher return home once more.
"Mom! Can we please avoid going around in circles? Just say what you need to over the phone because I’m not going back now." Thomas Fisher paused and continued, "If you really don’t want to discuss this over the phone, then wait until I go back."
