Chapter 1293: Chapter 1292: She’s Not Pitiful at All

Before Easton Holmes and Lily Turner arrived, Harriet White and Evelyn Taylor were discussing matchmaking. Her son Ryan Taylor had a girlfriend, and now she was busy arranging her daughter’s marriage, hoping to settle both her son’s and daughter’s weddings together.

"Mom! I don’t want to go on a blind date." Evelyn Taylor bluntly rejected her mom’s request, showing no regard for her mother’s face.

"You’ll be thirty after the New Year, if you don’t..."

"It’s still a long way from the New Year, so there’s no need to be so anxious."

Harriet’s words irritated Evelyn, making her impatient. Before her mom could finish, she interrupted.

Whether it’s New Year or not wasn’t the point. Harriet wanted to tell Evelyn that she’s not young anymore, and if she didn’t hurry up to date and find a partner, she might really be left behind.

"How can I not be anxious? You’re almost halfway through twenty-nine, yet you don’t even have a boyfriend. How much longer do you plan to drift before settling down?" Harriet was genuinely worried that if Evelyn kept dragging things out, she might not find a suitable man.

Hearing her mom mention her age again, Evelyn was somewhat angry, "So what if I’m twenty-nine? Do you think no one wants me?"

Being pushed to go on blind dates by her mom was already annoying enough, then those two came over to flaunt their love, and now she was almost furious.

"I didn’t mean that, you..."

"Then why did you say that? Are you tired of seeing me around the house?"

Evelyn interrupted Harriet again, looking even angrier this time, her expression turning unpleasant.

Harriet opened her mouth to retort but, seeing Evelyn’s more intense emotions, swallowed her words. What she said next changed completely, "You’re mom’s sweet little girl, how could I ever be tired of seeing you?"

After speaking, she reached out to touch her daughter’s face, but her hand caught only air.

"How am I still your sweet little girl? That woman named Lily is." For years, Harriet frequently visited the Linton Family to help care for Lily Turner and her three little babies, which Evelyn saw and felt jealous of.

She couldn’t understand what was so special about that woman, why everyone revolved around her, treating her like a treasure.

But when it came to Evelyn, one after another, they disliked her. Even her own parents seemed to favor that woman over her.

Hearing this, Harriet finally understood why Evelyn was acting oddly. With a helpless sigh, she said, "Silly girl! You’ll always be your dad’s and my sweet little girl." After a pause, she continued, "We treat Lily well because she’s your uncle’s biological daughter. Lily is actually quite pitiful; she lost her father at birth."

At this point, she couldn’t help but sigh deeply.

"She may have lost her father young, but now she has so many people who love her. She’s not pitiful at all, okay?" Evelyn held a different view from Harriet; in her eyes, Lily was not pitiable at all, given how many people doted on her.

On the contrary, Evelyn felt she was the pitiful one. The man she loved married someone else, the Linton mother who always valued her seemed to love her less, and even her parents treated others better than they treated her.
