Chapter 127: Ch 126: Creating a Variable

Sera’s face was already blurry in Kael’s memories, but he could also see a shadow behind her now. That was likely the corruption causing his current situation.

A peaceful silence claimed Kael as he kept looking at the mass of black behind Sera. He tried his best to keep his eyes open, but sleep finally overtook him in the end....

But not for long, because he once again opened his eyes, only to grab his phone and check the date.

It was the same day as before. Kael was somehow living through the same memory again and again.

"Is this corruption’s way of breaking my spirit? By showing me my death again and again? Then I will likely break through this situation if I can prevent myself from dying."

That was the conclusion Kael came to, and the first thing he tried was staying at home.

The reason Sera had tried to kill him was because of their therapy session. So if Kael never went to work today, Sera would not have a reason to come after him.

He pulled the covers over his head and relaxed in his bed. His phone started to ring after an hour of him lying there, and the caller was his employer.

"I guess I will get fired for this."

But even that felt acceptable in his current situation.

Kael tried to relax for a few minutes, but anxiety started to claw its way back before he knew it.

His logical side told him that he was being far too optimistic. This dream of his did not follow the normal logic of the world. So even his home was not safe for him.

"Maybe a place with a few more people would be better. Sera will likely not come after me if there are others around to stop her."

Kael reasoned and immediately headed toward the park. He locked the door behind him and crossed the main entrance of his apartment when he heard a rustling noise from behind, indicating that he was not alone.

He did try to dismiss it as a coincidence, but the sound did not disappear even when he picked up speed.

Rather, it was getting louder.

’It will be fine. Sera won’t do anything if there are people around-’

Kael reassured himself as he sat down inside the café. The waitress walked toward him to take his order, but her smile did not even reach her eyes.

"What would you like to have? If you have not decided, then may I suggest something-"

One second, the waitress was taking his order, and the next she was dead. People started to panic around Kael, but he only blinked and looked at the person holding the gun.

Sera was walking toward him with a calm look on her face. There was no emotion in her eyes other than accusation.

"Doctor Kael, are you betraying me? You know I have no one else but you. So how could you allow someone else to smile at you like that? No! I won’t allow you to look at someone else’s smile."

Sera looked unstable, and her hands were trembling with emotion. People finally started to notice what was happening, and panic started to spread throughout the café. But none of that deterred Sera.

She calmly kept making her way toward him.

Kael’s first instinct was to get out of the shop, but corruption blocked his way, beckoning him to sink into it with open arms.

’Shit! I cannot go out through the front entrance. Then what about the windows? I can break one-’

The storefront was made of glass, but there were a few traditional windows as well. Luckily for him, one was open, and he rushed toward it and jumped out.

Fortunately, by the time Sera realized what was happening, he was out.

Unfortunately, Sera snapped out of her daze quickly and followed him.

"Hey wait! Where are you going? Kael, come back to me o-or I will have to take measures to make you stay put-!"

That threat was followed by a gunshot. Pain made Kael flinch, and he staggered into the middle of the road.

He could not honestly say that it hurt. The shock was making it hard for him to feel the pain, and people were starting to gather around him.

Sera also knelt beside him with tears in her eyes. She looked devastated to see him lying on the ground and bleeding out.

"Doctor Kael, look at what you made me do. I-If only you had not moved...I wouldn’t have had to shoot you. Why are you doing this to me?"

Sera asked, her eyes wet with tears. But honestly, Kael was the one who wanted to ask that question.

What had he done to deserve getting caught in corruption and dying at the hands of his yandere patient? And how many times would he have to endure this?

More importantly, how many more times would he be able to endure his death before his mind broke down?

His energy left his body, and Kael fell asleep again. And the next time he opened his eyes, it was the same day as before.

"You know what? I think I am done playing nice. If this dream wants me to show it something fun, then I will show it something fun."

Kael had already tried running from his job and not showing up. And both times, Sera had found him.

So this time, he would go to Sera and personally make sure she was not able to come after him.

Buying a gun was not a hard task for Kael. He had researched the topic in case he ever needed one...just in case.

He even had a fake handgun license, which allowed him to buy the gun much more easily. Once he had the gun, it was a matter of finding Sera. And it was really easy to find her.

She was waiting for him in his office.

He greeted Emma as he normally did so as not to make her suspicious, and then he headed toward his office.

Sera was waiting for him inside with a smile on her face.

"Doctor, you are here-"

"Sera, why don’t we try something new for your therapy today? Instead of spending time here, why don’t we head out and get some fresh air?"
