Chapter 126: Ch 125: It’s looping

"Sera, I don’t think today is a good day for your session. You should leave for now. We can continue next time from where we left off."

Kael kept his voice gentle in order to coax Sera. He did not want her to feel like she was being forced. But at the same time, he wanted her gone.

"B-But I..."

Sera looked conflicted, and she nervously played with her hands. Her behavior was exactly as Kael recalled.

’Not that it can change since this world is based on my memories.’

Finally, Sera gave the guard one last look as she left. But her eyes remained fixed on Kael the whole time.

The guard stayed alert until Sera was gone, and then he relaxed.

"Phew! That takes care of an intruder. Honestly! How did she get past me in the first place? That should not even be possible since I keep an eye on things around here..."

The guard muttered, trying to make himself feel better. But Kael kept having a bad feeling about the day. He wanted to head home and rest. But was his home even safe? An unstable patient was a dangerous one, and there was no telling how far they might go.

’Maybe I should adopt a dog or two for safety. I don’t have money, but this is a dream based on my memory. Money and taxes should not be a problem-’

"Excuse me, Doctor Kael. I know that you said you wanted to take the day off, but you are below your required working hours this month. There will be a salary deduction if you decide to take a day off..."

The front desk lady decided to head to his office to inform Kael about this, and he let out a curse.

’Darn it! I might not have to worry about money or taxes, but they sure keep reminding me that I have no money to spare. And since I don’t know how long I will stay here...should I just go back to my daily grind?’

There was no other choice for Kael. He had a mindset that forced him to work hard and conserve money, and it was not something he could turn on and off whenever he wanted.

So he went back to work and had a relaxing day with no patients scheduled.

When it was time to head home, Kael immediately looked for his ID, only to not find it. He knew that he had kept one in his office, but if it was missing...

"Looks like Sera swiped it. No wonder she was able to get into my office so easily."

Kael sighed and decided to put in a request for a new ID.

"You want a new ID? What happened to the one the hospital issued you?"

Emma asked, and Kael did not even bother making an excuse.

"I think someone stole it. It would be helpful if you could deactivate it and issue me a new one."

Emma looked annoyed that she had to do more work because of Kael, but she complied with his request and handed him a new one.

With the day’s tasks taken care of, it was time for Kael to head home. He had managed to survive his death day, but he was not sure what would happen next.

"Eh, I will deal with whatever happens. Just how bad can it be? This is my subconscious..."

Kael started to say when he began to feel a presence following him home. It made Kael walk faster, and he decided that it would not be safe for him to head back to his house.

Instead, he decided to head to a hotel and specifically instructed the front desk worker not to allow anyone access to his room or give out his room number.

Once in his room, Kael settled in for the night and fell asleep.

But his sleep was not peaceful.

He woke up an hour later because he felt a weight on his chest. Kael tried to push it away, but he was not able to get up.

"Ah, are you awake, Doctor? I was beginning to get worried that I messed up the dose. How fortunate that my adoration for you allowed me to correctly guess the dose...Ah, don’t try to get up. You are currently sedated. It will hurt if you try anything funny."

Kael opened his eyes and looked at Sera’s familiar face. She held a long strip of cloth in her hand, and he could already see some wrapped around his arms and legs.

"Sera, you..."

Kael started to speak, only for Sera to press her fingers against his lips.

"Shhh, don’t say anything. I understand what you want to tell me. You are grateful that I got you away from that tiresome life of yours, right? There is no need to thank me for it. After all, you already showed me that you liked me by being patient with me."

Sera sounded delusional, and she was just making things up at this point. She was finding meaning in his every gesture.

"I think there has been a misunderstanding. I was patient with you because it was my duty as your therapist. There were never any personal feelings involved."

Kael quickly assured Sera, but she did not seem to hear him.

No, rather than not hearing him, it was almost as if she was deliberately ignoring what he had to say.

"It’s alright. You are just confused about your feelings, Kael. I would know because I was there as well at one point. I am sure you will come to the same conclusion once you have more time to think. And I will give it to you."

Sera sounded gentle, but Kael tried his hardest to shake off the effects of the sedatives he had been given.

Sera saw his attempt and took a deep breath filled with regret.

"Kael, what are you trying to do? I told you already—all I want to do is help you. Maybe you need a little more rest..."

Sera picked up a syringe with a familiar-looking liquid inside. Kael’s body instinctively tensed as soon as he realized what Sera was planning.

"Hey, don’t do this! You don’t know the consequences and-"

"It’ll be fine. I did some tests before I decided to use this one. Your body should be able to handle a little more medicine..."

Except, Kael was too tired and malnourished. And Sera was also misjudging the dose for him.

Kael’s body felt even more lethargic as the medicine entered his veins, and he knew that he had overdosed.

’Darn it! Am I seriously going to die in my dream as well? Darn it! This is the worst...’

"Don’t worry, darling! We will always be together. I will make sure you belong to me and no one else."
