Chapter 118: Ch 117: Prince of a Sacrifice
"Hey kid, listen to your elder and get out of the way. We are not here to cause trouble for you or the village. And based on how the village looks, I have a feeling that mage also did a number on this place. So why don’t you hand him over-"
The soldier demanded while reaching out toward Elena, but she quickly drained his power, leaving him as a husk of his former self.
Seeing the first soldier collapse for no reason made the army turn against Elena in an instant.
"What did you do? This state...are you a necromancer? How dare someone like you show your face in front of us?"
The soldiers asked in frightened voices. They took a defensive stance against her, almost acting as if this would help them against Elena.
But she waved her hand, and a wave of her magic caused even more people to fall.
"Do you still want to continue fighting against me? I won’t mind entertaining you a little longer. But perhaps, you would be more comfortable fighting against your comrades."
Elena waved her hands, and the fallen bodies around her started to rise one by one.
Seeing the faces of their former comrades as enemies made both the humans and demons flinch. They knew that they wouldn’t be able to handle a necromancer without help from someone powerful.
"Everyone, retreat for now. We will call for reinforcements right away."
Both sides retreated, and Elena did not chase after them. She did not want to leave Kael alone when he was so vulnerable.
So she decided to pick him up and lay him down somewhere comfortable.

But first, she would have to create that comfortable space for Kael.
"It looks like I will be busy for a while. I hope you wake up soon, Kael. Please wake up before Leon gets here. I don’t think I have the strength to face him, and I refuse to die at his hands. The only one I want to be killed by is you."
Elena whispered to the unconscious body before she walked inside the only intact house in the village.
It was time to rebuild this place from scratch. And this time, Elena would make sure it was a fortress.

"How much longer do we need to keep going? Are we not there yet?"
Seraphina questioned with a worried look on her face. She kept twitching with the urge to run back, and she was not the only one feeling restless.
Leon and Iris were in the same state, and there was only one reason behind this - Kael had gone missing.
There were rumors going around that an accident had happened to Kael when he was dealing with corruption, and it had caused him to go missing.
Usually, they would not have paid any attention to this rumor, but it had not died down even after two days.
In fact, the war had worsened, and there were new clashes every day. That made it clear that Kael was nowhere to be found during this time.
They all wanted to head back and look for Kael right now, but Lyra kept them on track. They were so close to the source capable of breaking her curse, so it would be optimal for them to break it first.
But their desire to help Kael made them feel like this was a betrayal...
"It’s a matter of one more day. Let’s just keep going. Kael is strong enough to survive one more day."

Iris pointed out. As the eldest one here, she had a responsibility to maintain morale, and she tried her best.
She could tell that the kids did not believe her words, but they were rational enough to know what they needed to do.
They finally arrived at the spring half a day later, and Lyra rushed forward to throw herself into the pond.
Her small body began to change in an instant, and it morphed into the body of a young adult.
The transformation soon stopped, and a flash of light covered Lyra, forming into clothes before she stepped out of the pond.
Her face looked familiar, which made the trio tense up instantly. They all recognized her, but no one was willing to engage her in battle.
"What’s wrong? Did you all fall for my beauty and become speechless? It’s alright! I can accept you as my subordinates and take you in. So why don’t you show your respect for-"
"Demon Queen Lyra Drakmor. What are you planning? There is no way you ended up in that cursed form by accident."
Iris pointed out as she took a defensive stance in front of the two kids.
Honestly, she was not confident about facing the Demon Queen. She knew she had no realistic chance of winning against her. But she still felt responsible for the kids behind her. She wanted to do her best to save them.
So she was willing to sacrifice herself if it meant the other two would have time to run away.
But Leon had other plans.
"I don’t think the Demon Queen planned to get cursed-"
"That’s right! I did not-"

"-I think she was just weak and stupid enough to get caught in a trap and end up in such a state."
"That’s right...hey! Are you insulting me? You idiotic humans..."
Lyra looked angry, and her hand flashed with magic. She was about to show these humans who was in charge here when Seraphina stepped forward.
"E-Excuse me, but can you listen to us before you attack?"
The silver-haired girl had always been good to Lyra, so she had a soft spot for her. Not as soft a spot as she had for Kael because he was ’family,’ but she could allow Seraphina to speak.
Seraphina noticed that Lyra had calmed down a little, so she decided to make her request.
"Can we postpone this fight until later? I am worried about Kael and his condition. He saved your life as well, Lyra. So can you help us?"
There was a tense silence after Seraphina finished speaking, and Lyra instantly calmed down. She decided she could deal with these fools later.
For now, her priority should be Kael as well...to repay her debt to him, of course.
"Alright, I will help you out. Since you helped me, I will help you in return-"
"If you want to help, then go and clear out your demon army. We will take care of the human side. And once it’s taken care of, we can head out and find Kael together."
Leon pointed out, making Lyra annoyed. But she did not mind his forwardness...at least as long as it was connected to Kael.
