Chapter 105: Ch 104: Way to break Lyra’s curse

Kael did not have a solution to his problem even when he reached home. He did not know what he could do to distract Seraphina, Leon, and Iris for the duration of his time out fighting in the war.

Moreover, he had no way to stop the news from reaching them.

’It will be bad if I head to war and then these three hear about it and decide to follow me as well. I need to make sure I stop them from following me.’

Fortunately, there was one thing Kael could make use of in this situation - Lyra’s curse.

He had finally managed to find a lead on how it could be undone more quickly. Well, more like, he was able to recall how she had gotten rid of it in her past life.

The source of Lyra’s curse was an array formation that was suppressing her powers. It was made using a lot of power and sacrifices, and that was why it was able to contain the demon queen.

But in exchange for this huge amount of power, it sacrificed stability. Even the smallest accident could cause it to break.

And finally, Kael had recalled the location of the array. So now it was time to send the trio and Lyra on a mission.

"Welcome back, Teacher. How did the meeting go?"

Seraphina greeted Kael as soon as he entered his home. The smell of her freshly prepared food traveled through the house and toward Kael’s nose.

He followed her toward the dining room where the other two were already waiting for him.

"Did the meeting go well? What did you discuss? Anything we need to keep an eye out for?"

Iris asked in a gentle voice, but her hands were clenched tensely, ready to take action the second Kael demanded it of her.

"The meeting was fine. I spoke about what the Tower wanted me to and did not pay attention to anything else. However, I came across another piece of information that might interest you. It’s related to Lyra."

Kael pointed toward the cursed demon queen, and Lyra started paying attention to him as well.

"You...found something interesting about the demonic beast? Does that mean we can finally get rid of it?"

Leon asked in a low yet threatening voice. Kael was surprised that he had been able to hold himself back for so long before asking this question.

As for the answer...

"We are not killing Lyra. In fact, I found a way to treat her curse. We can return her to her normal state soon."

Kael informed everyone, and a tense silence followed his declaration.

"Lyra...is cursed?"

Seraphina was the first to ask this question, but she did not sound surprised.

In fact, no one around the table looked surprised by this revelation. They were all high-level individuals, so they must have sensed Lyra’s true nature.

"That’s right. And I found a way to return her to her normal self. But I would need you there to make that journey with Lyra."

Kael laid out the bait and Leon instantly took it.

"What about you? Are you not coming with us?"

Kael instantly answered Leon’s question with the excuse he had prepared.

"I am afraid I won’t be able to come. I will need to head to the Magic Tower soon in order to comply with some research. I might get stuck there for a few days as well. So I won’t be able to accompany you."

Kael made his excuse, and no one could verify this claim. At least, none of these three could.

Leon still did not look satisfied with his explanation, but Iris decided to be the responsible one and quickly replied to him.

"I see. So that’s why you decided to adopt Lyra into our family? Because you knew she was cursed? It...makes sense. Alright, we will do you this favor."

Iris agreed, and Leon protested in the background, telling her not to speak for him. But Kael had a feeling that both he and Seraphina would agree to help him out.

’Finally, things are going according to plan. Once I send them off, I can instantly head to the war and do my duty.’

A week should be more than enough time to take care of the war and corruption. Any longer than that, and Kael would be more than happy to tell both sides to fuck off.

It was decided that the trio would accompany Lyra to her destination, and they would leave the very next day.

Kael had told them to take their time, but they all wanted to get it over with as soon as possible.

Even Lyra was complying with this demand, which was huge. Kael felt proud but also guilty as he watched the kids leave. He was deceiving them, and it left a bitter taste in his mouth.

’Still, it is better than them all losing their lives or, worse, getting involved in the war.’

Kael let out a deep breath before he steeled his heart for the war. It was time for him to head out and do his duty.

He did not have much in terms of armor, but his magician’s official robes were filled with different offensive and defensive spells. He had even woven comfort magic into his robes to make them better for battle.

Once he was fully equipped, he decided it was time to head out. He sealed his mansion, granting access only to the kids before he stepped inside the portal. When he stepped out, he looked down at the scene of demons and humans battling it out.

But Kael was not interested in interfering.

His only goal was to take care of the bubbling corruption.

Currently, he could sense different sections of the battlefield producing corruption, so he started by separating them before he blasted the corruption away.

It was not an effective method, but it was a fast one. And currently, what he needed was efficiency.

Both sides looked startled to see him attacking.

"Grand Master Kael...what are you doing? You need to help us-"

"I am not here as an ally. Instead, I am here as the envoy against corruption. My only battle is against corruption. So if you get caught in the middle, it is up to you to get out of the way. I will not discriminate when I get rid of it for you."

Kael warned them before he prepared another spell. And this time, people knew better than to test his patience.
