Chapter 265: Heretic / 1.26 : Silence

Elian looked at the technician sent to the royal tribune. He came earlier, to make sure everything would be set. Now that he decided to let Kian live, he had to change his plan.

Elian had to choose who he would let live, between Cayus and Serena. He decided to kill Cayus with the black scorpion, so Serena will be easier to control. Despite her attitude, she’s naïve and weak.

At least his brother was useful. He gave half of his life to Kian. That way, the two of them will be together for eternity.

Once he heard in his earpiece that his family was there, Kian left for the tribune. He took a seat on the side and looked at the thrones. There were only four of them, unlike usual. It seems like they intend to give the news today.

He frowned. If they waited, he would’ve changed the agreement. He’ll still change it once he becomes emperor. Elian looked at the people, who were looking at the screen excitedly, to see Lucian and Kian enter.

It was hard not to roll his eyes. He doesn’t understand why people love Lucian as much as they do. He comprehends why they worship Kian though. At least he knows why Kian loves Lucian. He’s been nothing but nice to him.

Lucian even sacrificed half of his life for him. He knew he liked Kian, but not that much. He’s never seen him show much interest in anyone. It benefits him in this case.

Elian looked at Kian enter, holding Lucian’s hand. His eyes darkened. It was hard to hide his anger when Kian and Lucian sat in the middle, and the king and queen at the end, like they were one happy family.

Serena and Cayus took a seat on the side. Kian smiled at them and they smiled back. Serena glanced at Elian and said, using their mind link:

*Is everything ready?*

*It is.*

Upon hearing that, she relaxed. She can’t wait for this nightmare to be over. Serena looked at his face on the huge screen with a smile.

Kian lifted his hand and the massive stadium turned silent. Serena sneered. Why are all those morons acting like Kian is the emperor of the world? When he says jump, they ask how high.

They turned the microphone in the tribune on and Kian said:

"As you all know, the Celestinos and Novas have been working on an agreement, to make the vampires’ and witches’ life easier. We’re happy to tell you that after discussing, we’ve agreed on those new terms."

The screen was split in two and the important terms of the new agreement appeared. When the witches and vampires saw the new prices, they cheered in happiness. The high prices made it hard for them not to hold a grudge against the entire other side.

Kian and Lucian smiled. Lucian peered at his bunny and could tell that everything he’s done was truly for the people. He looked at the crowd still cheering and ordered:

"Silence."

Everyone immediately became silent. Kian looked at Lucian amused. It’s funny how everyone is scared of him when he is so sweet. But then again, at first, he thought he was cold and unfeeling too.

Lucian looked at Kian and his eyes softened. Instead of focusing on what Kian had to say, he found it hard to look away. Kian woke up from his trance when the king coughed. His cheeks flushed slightly, and he looked at the camera.

Kian could hear chuckles from the stadium, and he felt like hiding. Everyone was confused when they saw them holding hands and sitting together. The last time they were in the tribune, Lucian was close to Serena and there was tension.

At least now they know the two are together. Friends don’t look at each other like that. Kian coughed and said:

"I was supposed to hand over the rein of the council and Celestino Inc, to my cousin Serena at the end of the month. I wish I didn’t had to, but I was still grateful I got to live so long. The wife of Dr. Eben called me. As you know, he was killed during the previous Beast Warfare. She found the results of a test he had taken when I first became sick. It turns out I wasn’t dying because I was a heretic, but because I was poisoned."

Audible gasps could be heard. Everyone at home or in the stadium couldn’t believe that someone would poison sweet Kian.

Kian said:

"Thankfully, my mate Lucian saved my life. My people have been looking for the person responsible, and I’ll have the answer before the end of today’s beast warfare. I’ll let you know once my man arrives. Meanwhile, let’s enjoy this new treaty."

Everyone stood up and clapped. Cayus looked at Kian and then at his daughter. She had a tight hold on his sleeve.

He could tell she was scared. He smiled at her and said:

"Let’s get something to eat before the round starts."

Cayus held her wrist and pulled her out.

A few seconds later, unsurprisingly, Elian heard Cayus’ voice in his head.

*Come to the room at the end of the hallway.*

Elian stood up, annoyed, and went to the room. He opened the door and closed it behind him. He asked impatiently:

"What?"

Cayus urged:

"You have to do something or Kian’s man will tell him we’re responsible."

Serena bit her lip and said in worry:

"What if they found out that his mother died because we brought that old employee? They can’t know we’re responsible for everything, or we’ll never get the throne. Even if the scorpion kills him and Lucian." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Cayus said:

"Elian, you need to stop that man before he gets to Kian."

"Even if I do, who says someone else doesn’t have the information?"

Cayus felt his heart pulse out of his chest.

"Then you need to compel him and order him to kill everyone who has the information. Once he does, ask him to destroy it for good."

Elian looked down, thinking. Kian must’ve finally found proof. The only reason he couldn’t do anything is that he was about to die, and he was unable to prove their culpability.

He’ll let him expose them and even if they accuse him of wanting to kill Lucian, no one will believe them.

Cayus shook Elian, and he pulled his arm away with disdain.

"You have to help us. If you don’t, we’ll tell the whole world your plan to murder Lucian to take the throne."

Elian said:

"Calm down. I’m thinking of a way to get you out of this."

Cayus relax slightly seeing that he looked honest.

Elian said:

"I’ll have my security stop the man once he arrives, they’ll keep him locked up, and I’ll compel him as you said. Once he gets rid of everyone and the proof, he’ll kill himself."

Serena said:

"You still need to make sure Kian dies before he arrives, if he does, no one will care about who poisoned him."

Elian nodded and said:

"En. Go back to the tribune, it’s suspicious that we’re all missing."

Cayus left with Serena, and Elian joined them a few minutes later.

Kian looked at Elian and said with a smile.

"You’re finally here."

Kian smiled and asked:

"Did I miss something?"

"Yes."

Kian looked at his cousin and uncle and said:

"You did too, look at the screen."

Everyone looked at the screen, including the spectators. As soon as Elian, Cayus, and Serena recognized the place, they looked at it wide-eyed. Kian whispered:

"Elian, Cayus, Serena. Three souls bound for eternity, under this witch’s divinity."

Elian, Cayus, and Serena felt woozy for a second. They shook their head to focus and Serena waved her hand to stop the screen, but it wouldn’t work. She looked at her father and knew that they were done when she looked into his eyes.

When everyone had heard their conversation, the stadium started to boo then. Kian looked at Elian and asked:

"You wanted me to die too?"

Elian immediately said:

"No, I swear I didn’t. I wasn’t going to use the black scorpion on you or stop your man. I love you, I would never do anything to hurt you."

Kian said:

"You would since you intended to kill the man that I love."

Elian’s eyes darkened. Since it’s already too late now that everyone knows the truth, he’ll at least kill Lucian. Elian looked in his pocket and pulled out the box.

"Don’t."

As soon as Kian said that, he froze. He wanted to open the box and toss the scorpion at Lucian, but couldn’t. Cayus decided to use the fact that everyone was focused on Elian to slip away.

He grabbed Serena’s wrist but froze when Kian said:

"Cayus and Serena don’t move."

They both fought with all their might to move, but it was to no avail. Serena yelled:

"What did you do to us?"

"I’ve bounded your three souls, since you love each other so much. The three of you will spend eternity in purgatory for your crimes."

Serena looked at Kian wide-eyed.

"No cousin please, that place is hell. Do you know what they’ll do to me there?"

Kian ignored her and pulled out a blade from his pocket. He cut his palm and made a circle with his blood. When he was done, Lucian grabbed a bandage and bandaged his hand. Kian smiled as he did.

When he was done, he said:

"Thank you."

Lucian smiled tenderly.

Kian closed his eyes and said:

"Guardian of purgatory, I summon thee."

The blood circle started to shine, and a man will black robes and a hood appeared.

Everyone looking at the screen was in shock. Even if the worst witches and vampires end up in purgatory, there’s a whole process. No one can speak directly to the guardian, or summon him.

But Kian did. They gaped when the guardian knelt and asked with his head bowed:

"Leader Kian, what can I do for you?"

Kian said:

"Rise."

The guardian stood up and met his eyes.

"I was hoping you could take care of those three bounded souls, for me."

"Of course."

The guardian snapped his fingers and three servants for purgatory appeared. They each held the arm of Cayus, Elian, and Serena and disappeared. Kian said:

"Thank you for your help."

The guardian nodded and disappeared. Kian and Lucian sat back on the throne. Kian looked at the camera and said:

"You may now start the first battle."

As soon as the battle started, over time people started to get more into it despite the shock. Kian made sure to deactivate the microphone and looked at Lucian.

"Are you okay?"

Even if Elian is evil, it’s his brother. Lucian laced their hands together.

"I am. I’ve always sensed Elian’s duplicity, that’s why I never got close to him."

Kian nodded.

Lucian pulled their hands apart and kissed his palm.

"I love you."

Kian smiled.

"I love you more, Gege."

Kian and Lucian spent the rest of their life together. For a week, the entire world celebrated the new agreement. It allowed vampires and witches to create stronger bonds. Lucian proposed to Kian a year later, and he said yes.

The two stayed together until their very last day. Kian appeared in versal and looked down for a long time, even after receiving the power.

He closed his eyes and opened them again 300 years later. Kian looked around and floated to a purple planet. He reached out and disappeared with a smile.
