Chapter 112: Spirit Animal / 10.17 : Saving the other

Colton looked at Cael as he walked to Eden. Using his ring Cael scanned Eden’s body and he looked at Colton.

"Why is that mortal here? The scan says that he’s been turned into an immortal and that he’s been traveling the multiverse."

Colton was so excited that he completely forgot Eden. Eden looked at him with a smile waiting for his answer and so did Dariux.

Colton felt like killing him and felt unable to focus to come up with an excuse. Even if the chancellor doesn’t have to answer to anyone he can’t use his power for personal vendetta. Furthermore, he knows Cael by heart he takes all of the rules seriously. Eden said:

"I was turned immortal by Colton so he could punish me for eternity by making me transmigrate in the multiverse. I lived and died miserably each time and I was bounded to Versem as a slave and had to do everything I was told."

Colton looked at Cael in worry but he looked back expressionlessly. Cael took a seat behind the desk and looked at his baby. He could tell he was angry. He tapped his lap and Eden walked to him. He sat on them and looked at him.

"Are you okay?"

Eden nodded.

"Were you worried?"

Eden shook his head but Cael knew he was lying.

After a few seconds Eden looked down and murmured:

"I was worried you might not wake up."

Cael lifted his head, he could feel his anxiety in the previous universe when they put in place their plan.

"I told you where you are is always where I’ll be. Baby It didn’t matter what I had to sacrifice to wake up I would’ve to be at your side."

Cael kissed him tenderly and Eden kissed him back.

He pulled back and looked into Cael’s beautiful grey eyes. He looked gorgeous with his rich red robes and the crown on his head. His long dark hair was in a half ponytail. Eden said thinking:

"Maybe I should hide you somewhere so no one can see you. I don’t want anyone to fall for you and try to take you away from me. Where should I conceal you?"

That man is too perfect everyone is bound to fall for him. Cael’s happiness was practically palpable, he loves it when Eden is jealous because that’s always how he feels.

He can’t stand it when someone looks at him and even less when they touch him. He feels like they should be in a place where it’s only the two of them.

"I should hide you before someone tries to steal you from me."

Eden smiled and after kissing him he said:

"I’m yours, my love."

Cael smiled affectionately.

"You are and I’m yours. I love you so much, baby."

"I love you more Gege."

Colton who had been gaping since Eden sat on Cael’s lap said stunned:

"Cael you’re the one who’s been helping him."

Eden laid his head on Cael’s chest. Cael wrapped his arms around his waist and said:

"I am, the first time I laid eyes on him I knew that he was my soulmate and I did everything I could to protect and free him."

Colton’s tears fell on his face as he asked in a trembling voice:

"Soulmate?"

Cael nodded.

"Of course. Why did you think I thought of you as my soulmate?"

Colton opened his mouth but nothing came out, he never ached as much as he did at that moment. Cael burst out laughing and said:

"Oh wow, you really did."

Eden’s eyes flashed in amusement and he turned Cael’s face. He kissed him and Cael deepened the kiss.

Colton yelled:

"How could you?"

Cael reluctantly broke the kiss and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"You know how Eden made me suffer. He would either kill me directly or torture me."

Cael simply said:

"I don’t care."

Colton looked into his indifferent eyes and knew at that moment that he had lost him. He always believed that his indifference was just part of who he is but he was wrong. Cael never showed any emotions because he never had any for him. He saw the way his eyes lit up when Eden called him Gege while he forbade him to call him something other than Cael. Ever since he saw Eden he can’t stop smiling. When Eden said he should hide him he was beyond happy when he would tell him that he can’t stand jealousy.

He had to pretend not to care when he would get too close to other people. He can feel his possessiveness for Eden when he couldn’t care less about him getting closer to anyone else. He pulled Eden to his lap when he would never show any display of affection in front of anyone. Most people didn’t even know they were dating that’s how cold he was. But he is none of this thing with Eden. Not only did Eden make his first mission as a guardian a living hell but he stole Cael from him. Colton looked down as more tears ran down.

He never felt this heartbroken before. He thought the worst moment of his life was when he found out that Edsel never thought of him as a son but this pain he feels right now is a thousand times worst. He wiped his tears and looked up when Cael ordered:

"Free all the people you’ve been punishing since you became chancellor."

Now that Cael is back he is the rightful chancellor and he knows that he’ll punish him for what he did to his lover and all the others.

Colton looked at Eden then Cael.

"If you plan on obliterating my soul do it because I’ll never free them. I used my blood to seal them. Only I can free them from this endless cycle of pain and It’s never going to happen."

He knows he’ll die so he might as well screw them over. He looked at them with a mocking smile.

Eden whispered something in Cael’s ear and then met his eyes. He nodded and gave him a peck. Cael looked at Dariux and ordered:

"Go wait outside I’ll call you when I need you."

Dariux respectfully bowed and left. Cael pushed a button and said:

"Bring the portal."

Two guards came in put on the floor two silver cubes and stood to the side after giving a button to Cael.

Eden stood up and walked to Colton with a smile. Colton said proudly:

"No matter what you do I’ll never free the others."

Eden said:

"We know but we can, how do you think I was able to unbind from Versem and act as I pleased?"

Colton’s proud face fell and before he could say something Eden had a tight hold around his neck. He tried to free himself but it was impossible.

He looked at Eden incredulously and asked with difficulty:

"How?"

Eden shouldn’t be stronger than him, he made him immortal so he could punish him while he was born immortal. He should be more powerful.

"It’s part of how I was able to free myself, I’ve been siphoning power from each universe."

Colton cursed, that mean they’ll be able to free the others. No, he can’t let that happen, this is all Eden’s fault. If he destroys him the other will stay stuck and Cael will be devastated. He was about to reach for something when he was violently thrown against the wall. Eden walked to him and kicked his stomach. Colton threw up blood and coughed uncontrollably. For the next thirty minutes, Eden beat him until the bottom of his robes were red.

Eden won’t let Colton die he wants him to suffer for eternity. The good thing is that no matter what happens to him he won’t die since he is immortal. Eden looked at Cael and he pushed the button. The two cubes projected a door and it opened. On the other side, you could only see darkness. Eden ordered:

"Pick him up."

The guards helped Colton stand up. Every bone in his body was broken and he was covered in blood.

He was unable to make any sounds after screaming for so long. Cael stood up and gave Eden a gun. When Colton recognized it he looked at Cael pleadingly but he was looking back indifferently. He can’t believe he ever had feelings for this devil. Eden pulled the trigger and Colton felt something spread in his entire body before he was thrown through the door. Once he was on the other side his voice came back because of the overwhelming pain.

He could feel his soul trying to get obliterated endlessly. The gun Eden used on him is to freeze someone in time, it means he’ll spend eternity in this crushing pain. He begged:

"Cael please help me."

As a response, Cael slammed the door and the guards took the cubes. Once they were done Cael pulled Eden to the chair.

After pushing a button Dariux came back, he knelt with his head down.

"Stand."

Dariux stood up and looked at the chancellor. He can infer what happened by looking at the bloodied rug. Eden said:

"Thank you."

Dariux looked at him surprised.

"All this time I thought that Cael was the only one who had my back but you did too."

Dariux said:

"I wish I had done more."

"You have if it wasn’t for you giving me a hint that I could siphon power I wouldn’t be able to free myself."

Eden smiled and he smiled back. Cael asked:

"We want to free the other prisoners can you help?"

"I can, do you have a plan?"

Eden said:

"Since Colton sealed them with his blood the only way for them to get free is to do it the same way I did. I thought we could give them control of Versem and once they get enough power from each universe they’ll be able to be beamed here."

Dariux thought and said:

"It should work I can free them from Versem’s hold and give them full control."

Eden said:

"You need to make sure that next time they are sent back to Versal they stay there until we can communicate with them. Do you think you would be able to astral project me to their Versal so I can speak to them?"

Dariux nodded.

"I can I’ll start right now and get everything ready."

Eden and Cael nodded and Dariux left.

Eden looked at Gege and smiled. Cael kissed him and said:

"Once they are all free let’s get married."

"I’d like that."

"I love you."

"I love you more Gege."

Eden stood up and laced his hand with Cael.

"Let’s go save the other prisoners."

They walked out hand in hand.
