Chapter 111: Spirit Animal / 10.16 : Magellanic Clouds
Eden looked around and comprehended that the guardians were dressed in green. The two men holding him were in blue and he reasoned that they were part of security. It seemed like the people working for GOT had a uniform depending on their level. He knew they would be a hierarchy based on what Cael told him. Thinking about him Eden smiled sweetly. He got in the elevator and looked to the side to see his reflection. He looked exactly like he did when he first appeared in the last universe. The only difference is that his dark hair was long and he had on white robes.
When the elevator doors opened he walked to an office. He read the title chancellor Colton and couldn’t stop himself from snickering. He only became chancellor because there was no one else, he clearly shouldn’t be seeing how he abuses his power. He is sure he isn’t his only victim and before killing him he’ll get the names. The guards frowned and one of them opened the door and they pushed him in. Eden fell to his knees and looked at the guards’ faces to make sure he would deal with them as well.
They closed the door behind them and he stood up. After wiping his clothes and hands he looked at the man sitting behind the desk and the one standing next to him. Eden looked at Colton with an amused smile, his head was held high as if the entire world belonged to him. He was oozing superiority and looking at Eden with disdain. He had on red robes with a gold crown on his head. Colton had long dark hair and an oval face. His eyes were round and he had a slightly turned-up nose with thin lips.
The man next to him had gold robes and it seemed like the higher ranks were the ones in gold robes. He had long white hair with a round face. His eyes were grey and slanted. He had a small nose with thin lips. Eden took a seat in front of Colton without waiting for him to permit him. Colton looked at him with disgust and said:
"Seems like once a thug always a thug."
Eden raised an eyebrow:
"Why would you want to change perfection?"
Colton’s revulsion for Eden was practically palpable. Eden laughed.
"Just because I’m smarter than you you hate me."
Colton banged his fist on the desk.
"I hate you because you’re nothing more than a thug. As a Whitlock, I shouldn’t even deign to give you time."
Eden burst out laughing.
"You a Whitlock? Please you’re nothing more than the brat Edsel had to adopt and pretend to love so your mother Anya would marry him."
Dariux smiled and his eyes flashed in amusement. Everyone knows that Edsel wasn’t a kid person and that everything he did was to marry Anya because he adored her but to go as far as to say it out loud is crazy. Anya loved her son Colton more than anything so she would’ve never accepted Edsel if he didn’t seem to feel the same. Everyone could tell that Edsel didn’t care for Colton but he still took care of him like a father would his son.
Colton’s eyes narrowed dangerously. He always thought Edsel loved him but it’s only when he grew up that he realized that everything Edsel did for him was to be with his mother for eternity. When he found out he felt humiliated since everyone knew beside him and the only way he was able to get through it was thanks to Cael. He told him that it didn’t matter what people said he already proved to them that he is a worthy Whitlock. When he became chancellor he felt like it was his revenge on all those who doubted him and gossiped about his life.
He certainly made those who laughed and mocked him pay. When he sat on the throne, he swore that he would never let anyone else look down on him yet this mortal dared to. He laughed maliciously.
"It seems like I haven’t punished you long enough Eden."
Eden rolled his eyes.
"Seriously how petty are you? You punished me for this long because you were too incompetent to become a guardian."
Eden knows now that the fact that at that moment Colton heard the rumors about his stepfather pretending to love him didn’t help but still. He asked:
"How many people did you punish?"
Colton leaned back on his chair. He isn’t surprised that Eden found out, that mortal is a criminal and one of the best. You can’t be a good criminal if you’re stupid.
Since he plans on getting rid of him once he gets the name of the person who’s been helping him from his side he’ll just tell him.
"Not much there’s just around 20. Between mortals like you who were thugs and guardians who were disrespectful."
Eden looked at Dariux and asked:
"You were helping him weren’t you?"
Dariux looked at Colton to know if he should answer and when he nodded he said:
"I did I’m the one in charge of tracking all the criminals."
Eden chuckled.
"Criminals that’s what you call us. So anyone smarter than you is a criminal."
Colton asked tired of speaking to him:
"Who has been helping you from our side?"
Eden looked at him confused.
"Don’t pretend I know someone from GOT has been covering for you or how would you know about us?"
Eden smirked.
"There’s no need to tell you the name you recently had him punished."
Colton frowned, after thinking he realized:
"Evander."
Eden nodded. Evander worked for Colton until a couple of weeks ago. Someone told Colton that he’s been spreading rumors about how he’s been abusing his power. If anything it wasn’t rumors but the truth and Eden will free him as well.
Eden looked at Dariux and smiled at him gently and he smiled back. He isn’t surprised that Eden knows what he’s done for him he never met someone as smart as him. Colton looked at Dariux suspiciously then at Eden and asked:
"Why are you smiling at him?"
Eden answered with a mocking smile:
"Because I feel sorry for him for having you as a boss. Actually I feel sorry for all the guardians for having you as a chancellor."
Colton took a breath to calm down and said:
"It’s time to get rid of you for good, once I obliterate your soul will see how chatty you will be."
Eden simply smiled, Colton felt like slapping that smirk off of his face. When someone barged into his office without knocking he howled:
"Who do you think you are entering my office without knocking?"
The man said slightly stunned:
"Chancellor Cael is awake."
Colton looked at him wide-eyed. He knew that his sleep was about to end soon but he thought he had a couple of years left. He can’t believe he is finally back. Maybe he came back early because he missed him too much. He asked excitedly:
"Where is he?"
"In the elevator, he’s on his way to your office."
Colton was so excited that he forgot about Eden and ran to the door waiting for Cael.
Cael is the only person who’s always been there for him and never judged him. He’s the only person he’s ever loved and he is his soulmate so when he said he needed a break he was heartbroken but he understood. He and his father were extremely close so when he decided to obliterate his soul Cael was depressed and unable to cope. He did everything to help him feel better and he wanted to be at his side during this hard time like Cael was but it wasn’t enough. None of this matters now since he is back.
When Cael entered his office he immediately held onto him with tears in his eyes. Eden sat on the desk looking at them with narrowed eyes. Cael who was facing Eden smiled and his eyes flashed with amusement. At that moment Dariux knew who was the person beside him who’s been helping Eden. He can’t wait to see Colton’s face when he finds out. He decided to take a seat to watch the show. Eden looked at him and smiled, he smiled back.
Cael pushed Colton and looked at him. When he sees this person who looks so sweet he can’t believe all the pain he has inflicted. Turns out Eden was right when he said that he was sure he had more victims. He feels grateful that he and Eden put in place a plan in the previous universe. He has no idea how Eden found out that Colton was planning to send him to the Magellanic Clouds but he’s grateful for his instincts.
Colton’s tears kept running on his face as he said:
"Cael I can’t believe you’re finally back I missed you so much."
Cael simply smiled, Colton didn’t seem upset by his almost cold attitude. He knows that this is how Cael is, he doesn’t show many emotions and he isn’t tactile either so the fact that he hugged him back is already a lot. The whole time they dated he never told him I love you or called him a cute nickname while he did. The first time he did Cael told him not to do it again so he never did. It doesn’t matter what Cael asks of him he’ll always oblige, he loves him so much.
