Chapter 105: Spirit Animal / 10.10 : Meeting Luna
Arya looked at the estate as the valet finished with the car in front of them. Even if she feels more confident since she’s spoken to her parents now that she is here she is a little nervous. She hopes everyone bought the papers her father had leaked and that they believe they’ve been a family since the beginning. Even if her mother cheated on her late husband they leaked that it was when they were separated and in the process of divorce.
It still won’t be seen nicely by haute society but at least they’ll know that she didn’t cheat on her husband with her brother and had her out of wedlock. It seems like most people buy it so she for sure feels better regarding that part. She’ll know as soon as she sees Luna if she’ll run Knox Fort. If she is sweet and nice as always she’ll be okay but if she’s cold she’s screwed.
When it was their turn they got out of the car. They walked in after giving the invitations holding their head high. They won’t let anyone look down on them, they sacrificed too much to restore their reputation so they won’t let whoever leaked what happened take that away.
They certainly won’t give up until they know who was hiding in the corner filming when Destry tried to make Eden jump to his death. They felt stares but ignored them and walked toward Luna who was chatting with a few guests. Alessa coughed and Luna turned around. It was a woman in her forties with dark hair and gold eyes.
She was wearing a long white dress, she looked beautiful and sophisticated. You could feel the strength of her spirit animal. The three of them smiled and Alessa said:
"Hello, Luna happy birthday."
Bastian and Arya wished her a happy birthday as well. Luna smiled gently.
"Thank you I’m glad you could make it."
The sounds in the room had died down to see how Luna would treat the Knoxs and they were surprised to see how polite and nice she was. Since she hasn’t shunned them after all the scandal they won’t either.
Luna reached out caressing Arya’s head and asked:
"How are you darling? I haven’t seen you in too long."
Arya smiled.
"I’m okay thank you. I know I’m sorry I’ve been busy."
Luna nodded.
"That’s understandable well I hope you’ll be a more frequent visitor."
"I will."
Luna smiled. When she heard sounds and gasps she looked at the entry. She saw her son with a young man who had a dark tail and rabbit ears. Next to him was another man.
Luna smiled at the Knoxs.
"Excuse me."
They nodded and followed her with their eyes. They can’t believe Eden dared to show and with his tails and ears out like him being a hybrid is something to be proud of.
Luna looked at her son with a gentle smile.
"Where have you been? I thought you were home."
Klay smiled.
"I was but I needed to see Eden it was important."
Luna nodded.
"How about you introduce me to your friends."
Klay said:
"Mother this is Jace Jace this is my mother Luna."
Luna looked at Jace with a smile.
"It’s nice to meet you, Jace."
Jace nodded.
"It’s nice to meet you too."
Jace looked around and saw that everyone was looking toward them. It felt like they were waiting for a show to happen. He looked at Eden a little worried. Even if he stays away from people of haute society he knows all about it since his family is just as old as Eden’s. He and Res both hated how the old family felt as though they were better than others.
He understands Luna’s reputation full well and he doesn’t want her to make Eden feel bad about who he is, he has already gone through more than anyone should and in the public eye. Everyone in this room knows since they all know who he is. He’s the only hybrid in the world and his face has been seen everywhere since the death of Destry.
Luna followed Jace’s worried eyes and they landed on Eden. When he felt her eyes on him he looked back expressionlessly. She looked at his dark rabbit ears and black with spec of gold tail. She can feel his enormous power, she felt it the second he entered the estate. The smile she had when she was looking at Jace faded.
Klay looked back between her and Eden and then said:
"Mother this is Eden, my mate. Eden this is my mother Luna."
Eden gave a courteous smile and said:
"Luna."
Luna said expressionlessly:
"Eden."
Klay looked at his mother with narrowed eyes. She looked back with a raised eyebrow as if to say is there something you would like to say? Klay was about to say something when Eden did.
"I’m your mate?"
He looked at Eden and his eyes were flashing with amusement. He pulled him in his embrace and answered with a smile.
"Of course you are."
Eden raised an eyebrow.
"Since when I don’t recall having that conversation with you?"
Klay narrowed his eyes at Eden. He never met someone as stubborn as Eden, actually, he has his mother. They indeed have a bet but he doesn’t plan on losing that hybrid will be his. He said his eyes flashing with determination:
"I never lose and I don’t plan on losing you."
Eden couldn’t stop himself from smiling.
Klay’s eyes were fiery and Eden tried to stop himself from touching them obsessively but it was impossible. Every time he looks at him like that he can’t help but reach out. He loves seeing his emotions like that. Klay’s happiness at Eden’s reaction was practically palpable. He looked into Eden’s lovely blue eyes. Even if like everyone he can feel the strength of his spirit animal he can’t help but only see the cuteness in him.
"Baby you’re so cute."
Eden pulled back his hand and asked:
"Do you see me as some kind of cute creature?"
Klay eagerly nodded.
"100%."
Eden let out his spiritual power in full force and he could hear gasps around. He asked with a malicious smile:
"How about now?"
Klay chuckled and after giving him a peck he said:
"I still do."
Eden’s power rescinded and his aura was like that of a cute rabbit. He couldn’t stop himself from smiling. The entire world sees him as a freak and since they saw how powerful he is he knows they fear him too. But not this man, he doesn’t fear him nor does he believe he shouldn’t exist like he is a mistake of nature.
Luna looked between her son and Eden expressionlessly. Turns out the power she felt from Eden was only a tenth of his real strength. She felt a little surprised to see it all vanish and turn him into this soft creature when he was looking at her son.
Eden said:
"You should go say hello to your guests."
Klay looked at him reluctantly. Eden smiled, he gets it but it’s his mother’s birthday it would be rude for him to ignore the guests. Eden ordered:
"Go it’s rude."
Eden looked at Luna and said with the same courteous smile.
"It was nice to meet you."
"You too Eden."
Eden pulled Jace’s wrist and went to get something to drink. Klay looked at them leave then at his mother. Luna said:
"Come on let’s greet the guests."
Klay followed her.
After taking a drink Eden walked to Jacob. Jacob smiled at him and he smiled back.
"Hey, this is the person I wanted to introduce you to. Jacob this is Jace, Jace this is Jacob."
Jacob’s smile disappeared and he said coldly:
"Jace."
Jace’s eyes flashed in disappointment and he said:
"Jacob."
Eden pulled Jacob’s wrist after saying to Jace:
"Give me a minute."
Once they were out of earshot Eden looked at him angrily:
"What are you doing?"
Jacob seemed confused.
"Why would you even bring him here?"
Eden sighed.
"He isn’t who you think he is."
After explaining everything that happened Jacob looked at Jace who had his head down. He seemed sad and disappointed. He couldn’t help it he’s been so angry at him since the day he tried to arrest Eden. But everyone makes mistakes and it’s clear now that Alessa has been manipulating him, she used their history to make herself seem like a victim. He must already feel guilty and he probably thinks he betrayed his late best friend by not having Eden’s back.
Eden said:
"You’re an ox you already know how things should be between the two of you but even if you plan on forsaking destiny go easy on him. It’s not his fault and he already sacrificed a lot to make sure everyone knows the truth."
Jacob’s eyes flashed in guilt. Eden put a hand on his shoulder. The two of them are mates but in the original timeline they never ended up together. The second they met they both felt it and Eden knows that’s why Jacob was even angrier that he came to arrest him.
Plus the fact that he could smell Alessa on Jace didn’t help. Eden can’t help but feel that Jace is unlucky, just before he came to arrest him he hugged Alessa so his mate instantly smelled it. Even if they had just met Jacob immediately felt possessive and he was pissed. He gets that he was having his back but now that Jace knows the truth they are all on the same side so they should be together and happy.
