Chapter 90: Blood Rebirth
The two stared at each other for some time, one young man and an older lady.
Time seemed frozen in that instant before silent tears trickled down Mira’s eyes.
Within moments, she began crying like a little girl.
Amon watched the sight and let out a faint sigh, not knowing how to console her.
He had always possessed a vague sense of emotional detachment when it came to matters like this, having never experienced them in either of his lifetimes.
After watching her cry for some time, Mira finally calmed down.
Turning to Amon, she gave out a wry smile.
"Thank you, uncle."
Amon gave a faint nod as his thoughts drifted through a few possibilities before he stood up.
At this moment, his body had already finished regenerating.
His skin seemed completely renewed, making him pause for a brief instant.
Still, he was not too surprised. After all, his physique was a Supreme Divine Physique.
He was practically almost indestructible, so this was only natural.
With a thought, a new leather jacket appeared and covered his body.
"It seems there’s nothing left for us here at the dungeon," Amon said to Mira.
His tone sounded faintly... off.
He had expected to encounter countless monsters here, but he could not deny that the SSS-rank dungeon had disappointed him a little.
Not completely, however.
"Before then..."
Noticing Mira standing up, he shifted his attention toward the blood lake.
It appeared completely calm, as though the goddess’ regeneration had finally been exhausted, but Amon would not be fooled.
During his second encounter with her, after discovering that she could regenerate, he had already used the Death Mark on her.
The mark would allow him to remain aware of her location for twenty-four hours.
Amon stared at the blood lake while the Winter Frost Blade trembled lightly in his grasp.
"There’s no need trying to hide from me. Come out politely, and I wouldn’t have to destroy your resurrection point."
Mira was startled by Amon’s words.
Her gaze shifted toward the pond, and she furrowed her brows.
She could not sense anything from it either.
A slight frown formed on her face as she wondered if Amon had sensed something incorrectly.
But she trusted him.
Even if she did not completely understand him, his overwhelming mysteriousness alone was enough to make her believe him.
It was also why she had grown calm, believing that Amon would be able to bring her sister back to life.
Perhaps no one else could do it.
However, if it was Amon...
She felt it might just be possible.
The lake remained perfectly still.
Not a single ripple appeared.
Seeing this, Amon chuckled inwardly.
The goddess was most likely pretending, hoping they would leave after realizing she was no match for them.
But how could Amon let her go so easily?
After another minute passed without any movement, he said nothing further.
The Winter Frost Blade quivered gently in his hand.
The next instant, an eerie sensation spread throughout the surroundings.
’Primordial Nether Extinction Sword Art.’
Bang!
The moment Amon released the sword skill, it felt as though the world itself had encountered a terrifying enemy.
The air fractured.
Black cracks spread throughout the surroundings as though the earth itself was being consumed by an endless void.
Amon was briefly startled by the strength of his own attack.
It was his first time using the ninth form after becoming an SSS-rank hunter.
The cracks spread relentlessly, beginning to devour the blood-filled water.
Instantly, a shrill scream echoed from within the lake.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Explosions rang out one after another as the water was consumed by the overwhelming might of the Primordial Nether Extinction Sword Art.
The blood lake shimmered faintly before coagulating and condensing into the shape of a woman.
Soon, the goddess stood before them once more.
She stared at Amon, horror filling her eyes.
"On... one thousand..." her pale, rosy lips trembled as she repeated the words, almost mumbling to herself in a daze.
Swoosh!
Amon appeared directly in front of her, his hand instantly clasping her throat.
The Ataroth Mask vanished from the system space and appeared atop his face, making him resemble a primordial entity that had existed since the beginning of time.
The goddess stared at the mask and felt as though every secret she possessed had been forcibly stripped bare before it.
She tried to utter a plea, but Amon’s grip completely sealed her throat.
Without another glance, Amon activated the second ability of the Ataroth Mask.
Since his strength far surpassed that of the goddess, he encountered little to no resistance as he transformed her into his puppet.
Besides, her mental will had already been shattered by the overwhelming display of his strength.
To think that a human could become so powerful left her in utter despair.
She knew that if someone like Amon had existed during the previous era, humanity might have survived.
Amon glanced at her naked figure, yet there was not the slightest ripple in his heart.
"Put some clothes on. I have some questions for you."
Since the old man insisted on acting so mysterious, Amon was pleased to have encountered another human from the previous era.
Now that she had become his puppet and could not disobey his will, he naturally intended to ask her a series of questions.
The first thing, however, was leaving the dungeon.
"Are there any other monsters or treasures in this dungeon?" Amon asked as the goddess condensed a simple cloth from her blood ability and covered herself.
The goddess quickly shook her head.
"I killed them all to form the Blood Resurrection Pool."
Noticing his stare and confusion, she let out a faint sigh before continuing.
"In truth, although I became a servant of the gods, I still aspired to greatness as one of the strongest talents of the ancient human era.
"Because of that, after being sent here alongside all those monsters, I created a unique ability called Blood Rebirth. It enables me to be reborn whenever I’m killed.
"Using this skill, I planned to survive the calamity that would wipe everyone out and gain a head start in the next era, allowing me to grow strong enough to surpass the old gods..."
Listening to her explanation, Amon was impressed by her talent and equally surprised that she had managed to create such a terrifying ability.
Surely there had to be drawbacks.
Just the thought of indefinite resurrection sent a chill down his spine.
Besides, it seemed that even the goddess herself would not survive the calamity, making him increasingly curious about what exactly it was.
However, now was not the time to ask.
He had to settle Mira and her sister first, then have a private conversation with the goddess and retrieve every piece of important information she possessed.
With that in mind, Amon used Close Yet So Far and appeared back at Mira’s location.
The old woman had watched the entire interaction and understood that, through some unknown means, Amon had turned the goddess into his puppet.
The realization chilled her to the bone.
Still, she was not afraid, knowing that she and Amon stood on the same side.
Amon gave her a small nod before leaning down and lifting Mira’s sister into a bridal carry.
The goddess silently followed behind them.
"Place a hand on my shoulder."
The goddess quickly complied.
Understanding what was about to happen, Mira gave one last look at the place, sadness quietly filling her heart.
Then she stretched out her old, wrinkled hand toward Amon and gently tugged at his sleeve.
Close Yet So Far activated.
The group of four vanished from the dungeon.
