Chapter 111: Aim
There was a brief silence in the room between the two children.
After some time, Collete finally voiced the thought that had been lingering in her mind for a long while.
"Thank you."
She didn’t know how Amon had done it. She had already guessed he wasn’t ordinary after surviving despite her initial ability clearly pointing toward his death, but now...
Seeing how effortlessly he had upgraded her talent to such a terrifying degree, she knew his identity might be far more extraordinary than she had imagined.
’Is he lying about his memory loss?’
’Could there be a specific reason he lied to my parents? To me?’
Countless thoughts swept through Collete’s mind, each one crashing into the next until, for a few fleeting seconds, she was left completely overwhelmed.
Just then, a hand gently settled on her head, softly caressing her hair.
"It’s alright. Due to how overwhelming the influx of knowledge from your upgraded ability might be, you should get some rest. We’ll talk later in the afternoon."
"Okay."
Collete nodded before making her way onto the bed.
She let out a quiet sigh at her pitiful state.
Despite finally gaining a measure of control over her ability, she was still crippled.
’Should I ask him if there’s something he can do about it?’
The thought only lingered for a brief moment.
Thinking it might be asking for too much, she quietly buried it at the back of her mind before slowly drifting off to sleep.
Amon watched the little girl for a while before finally shifting his attention away.
With that, he called up the system panel.

[Fate Points: 16]
[Soul Fragments: 31.20%]
Glancing at the soul fragments, one could only imagine just how many night crawlers Amon had slaughtered over the past few days.
Based on his guess and the vague intuition he received from the system, once his soul fragments reached the fifty percent threshold, his main body would awaken.
As for this little kid...
Amon didn’t know what he was supposed to feel.
He could only continue moving forward and deal with things as they came.
Even after killing hundreds of thousands of night crawlers, he had only managed to gather a little over twenty percent soul fragments. It was only after killing one of the Seven Deadly Sins, Envy, that he had obtained an additional ten percent.
Amon knew that if he wanted to further the process of godhood, he had to kill the remaining six Deadly Sins.
After a moment of thought, Amon walked over to the chair beside the window. Resting against it, he stared silently at the scenery outside as he gradually became lost in thought.
He felt there was no need to upgrade anything.
His main body would need those Fate Points far more than this temporary vessel ever could.
’That begs the question... would I be able to handle the remaining six Deadly Sins by myself?’
Amon already knew the answer.
He wouldn’t.
But perhaps...
His main body could.
After mulling it over for a while longer, Amon decided to wait for the couple to return so he could inform them of his departure.
It was the least he could do for the people who had taken him in after he had been abandoned.
Besides...
They had also given him someone useful in the form of Collete.
Amon knew her gift would prove especially valuable in the days ahead.
With that thought in mind, he remained silent as time quietly slipped by.
...
The sun gradually climbed before eventually reaching its peak, signaling the arrival of high noon.
Several more hours passed.
Soon, the sun began its slow descent, ushering in the late afternoon.
Just as Amon sat quietly, lost in thought, a soft voice reached him from beside the bed.
"...You’re still awake?"
Amon turned.
Collete had finally woken up.
Her eyes now carried a faint silver hue, and the vague illusions that once lingered within them had completely disappeared.
Yet the profoundness hidden inside them had only deepened.
Those unfathomable depths couldn’t be concealed.
Previously, Collete had possessed a distant, almost forlorn appearance.
Now...
It felt as though she had witnessed the rise and fall of countless eras.
She seemed to have accepted things far more readily than before, quietly embracing the new identity that came with her upgraded ability.
The moment she awoke, she realized her ability was no longer overflowing uncontrollably.
Instead of activating on its own, she could now use it whenever she wished.
More importantly...
To her surprise, she no longer felt any compulsion to reveal the visions she saw.
"I was thinking about something..."
Amon’s reply interrupted her quiet experiment with her ability.
Collete turned toward him, curiosity flickering within her silver eyes.
"Is it because of the six that are coming?" she asked.
"Mmm."
Amon gave a small nod before speaking again after a brief pause.
"I’ll be leaving the city tomorrow morning."
"Really?"
Collete let out a startled gasp, clearly caught off guard by his decision.
Amon quietly nodded.
"I’ll come with you," Collete muttered.
Amon looked at the little girl.
Then his gaze drifted toward the wheelchair beside her.
A slight frown formed on his face.
Not wanting to say what was truly on his mind, he searched for a gentler way to refuse without hurting her feelings.
Just then, Collete spoke again.
"I promise not to be a burden or anything. Besides... I can tell you don’t just plan to kill the six, but a lot of other night crawlers too. I can point us toward wherever the night crawlers are gathered the most."
Hearing her explanation, Amon fell into thought.
It made sense.
He wanted to shorten the amount of time it would take.
He simply didn’t have much left.
The six would arrive in three days.
Within those three days, he had to become strong enough to face them.
Even so...
Collete was still crippled.
Taking her along would practically be placing her life in danger.
"Watch out!"
Collete suddenly exclaimed.
Amon reacted purely on instinct, his body shifting to the side before his mind had even processed the warning.
Bang!
The sharp sound of something striking wood echoed through the room.
Amon’s head snapped toward the source, a dagger instantly materializing in his hand.
Only for him to pause.
Embedded firmly in the wall...
Was a sheet of paper.
Amon slowly turned back toward Collete.
A faint smile rested on her lips.
The paper trembled before gently pulling itself free from the wall, floating across the room until it stopped in front of her.
"Along with the upgrade of my ability to Divine Rank, I also gained something similar to telekinesis..." she replied with a small, proud smile.
"I see..."
Amon rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
If that was the case...
Then bringing her along might not be such a bad idea after all.
The only remaining question was whether her parents would agree.
Just as the thought crossed his mind, the sound of the front door unlocking echoed through the house.
’Speak of the devil...’
Amon immediately realized Collete’s mother had most likely returned.
Collete’s expression shifted ever so slightly as she began thinking about how she was supposed to explain her decision to her parents.
