Chapter 313: Regigigas’s Power
Regigigas followed behind, bombarding them relentlessly. Hyper Beam after Hyper Beam, with no pause or side effects. The only issue was that Regigigas, affected by Slow Start, moved too slowly, giving the hunters room to kite and retreat.
It also gave Hunter J a bold idea: hide somewhere along the retreat route, wait for Regigigas to pass, and hit it with a petrification beam.
So she hid behind the stone tablet in front of the second door, recalling her conspicuous Salamence.
"Do you think she’ll succeed?" Zoroark asked, having guessed Hunter J’s intention through Gengar’s livestream.
"If you’re asking whether she can successfully ambush Regigigas—I think so. But if you’re asking whether Regigigas will be subdued just because it’s petrified—I think that’ll be difficult." Rio said after a moment’s thought.
"After all, this is a legendary Pokémon that dared to fight Arceus. It might get petrified, but it won’t be captured by the hunters just like that."
As Rio spoke, the screen showed Regigigas emerging from the cave where Regice had slumbered and entering the cave where Regirock had slept—the one where Hunter J was hiding.
As Rio predicted, Hunter J hid behind the stone tablet. When Regigigas passed by, she fired a shot from behind. The beam struck Regigigas, freezing the enraged Pokémon mid-Hyper Beam. Petrification began at its feet and rapidly spread upward.
"Excellent, J!" Hunter K laughed heartily in praise.
"Of course—I’m J, the organization’s best hunter." Hunter J accepted the praise, wiping cold sweat from her face. Hiding behind that tablet, she had been terrified that the enraged Regigigas might randomly blast it with a Hyper Beam. If that happened, she’d be done for—dead or crippled. Fortunately, the heavens had favored her, allowing her to succeed.
"Hurry! Fit Regigigas with the tech cage and collar!" Hunter K excitedly ordered his subordinates.
The retreating armored vehicles began moving back toward Regigigas. But just as they were about to get close—Regigigas, still petrified, moved.
Just as visibly as it had been petrified, the stone shattered from head to toe at a visible rate. It raised both hands and fired two Hyper Beams, obliterating the approaching vehicles and the hunters around them.
Hunter K’s excitement froze. As quickly as happiness had come, so did sorrow—or rather, flight. Because Regigigas, after destroying the vehicles, aimed both hands at him and Hunter J. Terrified, they fled on their pseudo-legendary Pokémon.
"Release Regirock, Regice, and Registeel! We need them to face Regigigas now!" Hunter K shouted through the communicator to the hunters aboard the ship.
His orders were acknowledged. Before long, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, still petrified and fitted with collars inside glass containers, were lowered from the ship outside Snowpoint Temple. As Hunter K and Hunter J escaped the temple, the three were being freed from their containers by other hunters. The moment the containers opened, their petrification was lifted.
"Now! All three, use Hyper Beam together!" Hunter K shouted.
"Krrk... krrk..."
"Regiiii—!"
"Giii... giii..."
Regirock, Regice, and Registeel raised their hands simultaneously, gathering Hyper Beams. Inside the temple, Regigigas had just emerged from the entrance. Facing its rebellious children, it raised both hands and fired two Hyper Beams from its palms.
On one side, the combined Hyper Beams of the three Regi; on the other, Regigigas’s dual Hyper Beams. The clash created a massive shockwave outside the temple, forcing Regirock, Regice, and Registeel to stumble backward. Regigigas also took a step back.
"Close combat! All three, use Giga Impact on Regigigas!" Hunter K ordered.
The three Regi roared and charged at Regigigas, their right hands glowing with silver light. Regigigas, facing their attack, stood its ground and used its exclusive divine move—Crush Grip. It clenched its fists, raised them, and slammed down like hammers.
BOOM! Regirock, Regice, and Registeel were driven into the ground by that single punch.
"Krrk... krrk..."
"Regiiii—!"
"Giii... giii..."
The three Regi cried out.
"Th-this can’t be!" Hunter K’s eyes widened—he hadn’t expected the combined attack of the three Regi to be nullified by a single move from Regigigas.
"Since that’s the case..." Hunter K gritted his teeth. "Regirock, Registeel—together, restrain Regigigas’s arms!"
His command given, Regirock and Registeel, who had been driven into the ground, burst back out.
"Krrk... krrk..."
"Giii... giii..."
They latched onto Regigigas’s arms like clingy children, holding on for dear life.
"Regice! Use Ice Beam!" Hunter K seized the opportunity.
"Regiiii—!"
Regice raised its hands and fired a freezing beam. The beam struck Regigigas, Regirock, and Registeel, freezing them all together.
"Aren’t you going to act now? Regigigas is frozen!" Zoroark, now hiding with Rio and Mewtwo in a concealed spot above the temple, urged.
"Not yet. The real show is just about to begin." Rio smiled, still not eager to reveal himself.
In his sight, Regigigas’s level information appeared.

"One minute from now, the real Regigigas will show its true power." Rio muttered.
Below, the frozen Regigigas moved. Crack. The ice began to show fissures. Two seconds later, the ice shattered, freeing Regigigas—and Regirock and Registeel with it.
"Damn it—why is it so hard to deal with!" Hunter K fumed.
"Regice, use Zap Cannon on it!"
"Regiiii—!"
While Regigigas was still being held by Regirock and Registeel, Regice clasped its hands together and launched a Zap Cannon. The attack hit Regigigas, sending electricity coursing through its body.
But Hunter K wasn’t done. "Registeel, Iron Head! Regirock, Stone Edge!"
Registeel and Regirock released their holds. Registeel, taking advantage of Regigigas’s paralysis, slammed into its abdomen, knocking it to the ground. Regirock then raised its hands, summoning countless sharp stones that shot at Regigigas like bullets, keeping it pinned down.
"Perfect! Now—Regice, Registeel—use Hyper Beam together and crush Regigigas’s stamina!" Hunter K shouted excitedly. This was the thrill of Pokémon battling, and he was thoroughly enjoying it.
But that thrill didn’t last long. He was about to experience what it meant to face a great giant—one that had dared to stand against Arceus.
As Regice and Registeel gathered their Hyper Beams, a white light enveloped Regigigas. Slow Start had ended. From now on, Regigigas would fight at full power.
"Regiiiiii—!"
Regigigas raised its right hand. A Hyper Beam gathered instantly and fired, meeting Regice and Registeel’s combined beam midair. The result was a one-sided crushing—Regice and Registeel were sent flying.
Then something even more astonishing happened. Regigigas’s body glowed purple as it raised both hands palms-up.
"Is that... Confuse Ray? What’s Regigigas doing?" Hunter K was baffled.
But the next second, his eyes widened. After Regigigas used Confuse Ray, the three rebellious children began glowing as well. Regirock, the closest, responded first—its H-shaped symbol flashing—standing to Regigigas’s left in the same pose. Then Regice and Registeel, who had been knocked away, ran back and took positions below and to the right of Regigigas, copying its stance.
"Regirock, Stone Edge! Regice, Ice Beam! Registeel, Flash Cannon!" Hunter K frantically commanded, trying to regain control.
But this time, his commands failed. After Regigigas’s Confuse Ray, the three Regi were no longer under control. Instead, with a single cry from Regigigas, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel turned their attacks on Hunter K.
"Damn it!" Hunter K’s scalp tingled. He mounted Dragonite and fled. Dragonite dodged Regirock and Regice’s Zap Cannons—but not Registeel’s Flash Cannon. The blast sent both Hunter K and Dragonite crashing into their own ship. The impact made Hunter K cough up blood.
"See? I told you—Regigigas isn’t so easy to control." Rio watched from the shadows, smiling.
"So when are you going down? Looks like the Hunter Organization is running out of options against Regigigas." Zoroark said.
"Let them take a few more beatings, then we’ll make our move." Rio smirked.
Meanwhile, the Hunter Organization’s ship released a swarm of Pokémon—Hunter J’s reinforcements from before leaving headquarters: a Swellow battle group and a Vibrava battle group. The Swellow used Air Slash, while the Vibrava used Dragon Pulse, all aimed at Regigigas and the three Regi.
Facing this assault, Regigigas and the three Regi fought back with Hyper Beams. Each blast took down large numbers of Swellow and Vibrava. Though they suffered damage themselves, the Swellow and Vibrava’s attacks couldn’t bring them down.
"Use Plan B." Facing this situation, Hunter K could only change tactics.
