Chapter 312: Regigigas (Two-in-One)

Waking up, Hunter K stared at the door that had opened itself again.

He was stunned. Shocked.

WTF—two doors in Snowpoint Temple had both opened on their own. What did this mean? Could it really be that the heavens were favoring the Hunter Organization? That they wanted the Hunter Organization to capture Regigigas?

"Hahaha! You’re finished, Rio! I’m certain now—the heavens are helping us! Just wait for your doom!" Hunter K laughed heartily as he led his subordinates through the second door.

Beyond this door was another massive cavern of several hundred square meters. At its center stood another enormous object—not a rock this time, but a block of freezing ice. The ground was also covered in a thick layer of ice. Without ice boots, it would be easy to slip.

"Is that Regice?" Hunter K muttered to himself, having already been through this once.

As he muttered, the ice began to glow with white light. Moments later, Regice appeared before the hunters.

"Regiiii—!"

The moment it awakened, Regice raised its icy, frost-covered hands and gathered a beam of Ice Beam.

On the hunters’ side, just like before, five armored vehicles drove onto the ice. When Regice’s Ice Beam was fired, three of the vehicles launched beam attacks similar to Hyper Beam, meeting and neutralizing it midair.

"Fire Liquid Plastic Missiles!" Hunter J shouted.

The other two vehicles fired their glue-like projectiles. Just as with Regirock, Regice was struck and immobilized, unable to move. It could only cry out in frustration.

Hunter J raised her tech gun and fired a petrification beam—Regice was turned to stone.

"Secure it! Lock it up!" Hunter J stroked her tech gun with a smile as she gave orders to her subordinates.

"Amazing—they captured the legendary Regice that easily?" Outside Snowpoint Temple, Zoroark watched the scene in astonishment.

"That’s because it’s a tech gun developed from the move Glare." Rio explained. "Human technology has advanced greatly—even legendary Pokémon can be suppressed. It’s not surprising that Regice was captured."

"If they’re that strong, how are you going to take Regigigas from them?" Zoroark asked, surprised.

Rio shrugged with a smile. "Because I’m the exception. Against me, they can only take a beating. Right now, I just want them to do the work of awakening Regigigas. When the critical moment comes, I’ll make my heroic entrance."

Zoroark looked at Rio’s confident expression and finally said: "Fine. I’ll wait and see."

On the big screen, after capturing Regice, the Hunter Organization put on cold-resistant gear and pressed forward. Eventually, they arrived at the third door.

"The Pokémon behind this door should be Registeel, right?" Hunter K murmured as he looked at the door.

This door was different again—it had six slates: two Steel, two Ice, and two Rock.

"You lot—can you decipher this one?" Hunter K asked the five researchers with a smile.

The third tablet had even more ancient script than the first two. The five researchers exchanged awkward glances. After all, they hadn’t deciphered a single tablet since arriving—every door had opened by itself. It was almost comical.

"Boss K, give us more time—we’ll definitely crack it." One of them said.

"Yes, yes—just give us more time!" The others chimed in.

"Fine. I’ll be waiting. Hopefully, by tomorrow night, this door will open because of you." Hunter K shook his head and walked away. His intuition told him the third door would probably open itself again. These researchers were probably just mascots.

After Hunter K left, the five researchers exchanged glances. They were thinking: might as well slack off. If the door didn’t open by tomorrow, they’d put in some real effort. Since they’d already said the right things, Boss K wouldn’t really punish them.

So the five researchers began slacking off. They pretended to study the tablet intently, but once Hunter K, Hunter J, and the other senior officials went to sleep, they retreated to their tents—claiming it was too cold outside and they’d decipher it from inside.

That gave Gengar the perfect opportunity to take photos. After they left, Gengar sent the third tablet’s contents to Rio.

Rio tried deciphering it himself—but was once again completely lost. He decided to wait until morning to send it to Fuji.

Time passed. Morning arrived.

Rio sent the third tablet’s images to Fuji. As always, Fuji was delighted to take on the challenge.

"Kid, leave it to me. There’s no tablet in this world this old man can’t decipher!" Fuji said confidently before hanging up.

Rio shrugged at the phone and waited for the results.

He waited—from sunrise to sunset. Only at dusk did Fuji finally call back.

"Rio, I’ve deciphered the whole thing. It says: ’To those who seek to awaken Regigigas and wish to open the third stone door, touch the six slates in the order of Steel—Ice—Rock—Ice—Steel—Rock. The door will open, and the great giant will be waiting for you within.’"

So this third door led to the final layer... Rio muttered inwardly. The "great giant" clearly referred to Regigigas.

He glanced at Gengar’s livestream. The five researchers were bundled in warm clothes, studying the third tablet out on the ice. Not far away, Hunter K and Hunter J lounged in warm chairs, waiting for the door to open.

But it didn’t open. When night fell and most people were yawning with drowsiness, Gengar made its move again.

Following Rio’s instructions, it pressed the six slates in the order: Steel—Ice—Rock—Ice—Steel—Rock.

Rumble... rumble...

The stone door shook. Hunter K, who had been resting in his tent, rushed out. Seeing the door open yet again, he was overjoyed.

Heaven truly favored the Hunter Organization!

Beyond this door was a cavern made entirely of iron walls. As Hunter K led his subordinates inside, the first thing they saw was a block of iron, and behind it, a staircase. At the top of the stairs rested a sphere glowing with crystalline light.

"Registeel and Regigigas." Hunter K guessed. The iron block was clearly Registeel. And the glowing crystalline sphere above—that must be Regigigas. According to legend, Regigigas appeared as a glowing crystalline sphere while in slumber—exactly as they saw.

As Hunter K speculated, the massive iron block began to glow with white light. Moments later, Registeel appeared before them.

"Giii... giii..."

It immediately gathered a Flash Cannon at its chest. The Hunter Organization, prepared as always, deployed five armored vehicles. Three fired Hyper Beam-like attacks to counter the Flash Cannon, while the other two prepared the Liquid Plastic Missiles.

The missiles struck Registeel, trapping it just like Regirock and Regice before it. Hunter J raised her tech gun and fired—Registeel was petrified.

Clean and efficient.

"Take it away—fit it with a tech collar." Hunter J ordered.

Hunter K, meanwhile, was thrilled. He released his Dragonite and flew toward the top of the staircase.

"Regigigas—I’ve finally reached you. I never thought I’d go from selling you to a client, to making you my key to revenge against the Kanto League." Hunter K stood before the glowing sphere, his eyes full of desire and excitement.

But excitement aside, he suddenly realized a critical problem: how did you awaken Regigigas from its crystalline form? The three Regi had awakened the moment they entered their caverns—but Regigigas showed no signs of stirring.

"Boss K, maybe we need to attack it to wake it up?" Hunter J suggested, flying up on her Salamence.

"That makes sense." Hunter K agreed. He ordered Dragonite to fire a Hyper Beam at the crystalline sphere.

Outside Snowpoint Temple—

"Aren’t you going to act? Regigigas is about to be awakened!" Zoroark asked, puzzled, as it watched the Hunters reach the final step.

"What’s the rush? Even if they wake it, do you think Regigigas is easy to catch?" Rio smiled.

"But you said human technology is strong enough to suppress even legendary Pokémon." Zoroark said, exasperated.

"Remember the key word in what I said—’some.’ That means Regigigas might not be among those that can be suppressed." Rio said.

In his view, even with Slow Start, Regigigas wouldn’t be easy to catch.

Just as he finished speaking, Gengar’s livestream captured a crucial moment—after Dragonite’s repeated attacks on the glowing sphere, a blinding light suddenly erupted from within it.

The light was so intense that Hunter K and Hunter J instinctively stepped back. The light grew from formless to tangible, expanding until it took the shape of a nearly four-meter-tall Pokémon with no distinct head but a massive white torso. Across its torso, from back to front, ran a yellow strip with seven holes arranged like the Big Dipper.

"Regiiiiii—!"

As the light faded, the Pokémon let out a deafening cry within the temple.

"Regigigas—you’ve finally awakened!" Hunter K gazed at Regigigas’s towering form, exhilarated.

But he wasn’t so carried away that he forgot his priorities—he quickly shouted to Hunter J: "J! Restrain it!"

He knew Regigigas wouldn’t obediently follow orders.

Hunter J snapped out of her awe and raised her Petrification Gun. But just as she was about to pull the trigger—

Regigigas didn’t even look at her. It raised its right hand and fired a Hyper Beam—no charge-up needed.

I’m done for... Hunter J’s scalp tingled. Fortunately, her Salamence reacted quickly—it grabbed her and dodged just before the beam hit. It escaped, but its tail was struck, and it let out a pained cry.

Then Regigigas fired another Hyper Beam—again, like a basic attack.

"Dragonite, Flamethrower!" Hunter K ordered his Dragonite to intercept.

"Salamence, Flamethrower!" Hunter J did the same.

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to use Hyper Beam—it was that Regigigas’s no-charge Hyper Beams were just too fast.

The result? Regigigas’s single Hyper Beam not only overpowered Dragonite and Salamence’s combined Flamethrowers but also shook the entire temple violently.

"Suppress it now!" Hunter K shouted in alarm, ordering the armored vehicles below to lay down suppressive fire.

The hunters inside the vehicles aimed their cannons at Regigigas and fired—five Hyper Beams simultaneously.

At the top of the stairs, sensing the danger, Regigigas clasped its hands together and fired two Hyper Beams from both hands, merging them into one. The combined beam met the five below in a massive explosion that shook the temple.

The blast sent Hunter K and Hunter J, still clinging to their Pokémon, reeling—their heads ringing. Then Regigigas, like Red Gyarados, kept firing Hyper Beams as if they were basic attacks. Before the dust had even settled, it fired two more beams, blasting the armored vehicles to pieces.

"This won’t work! The space is too confined—it’s too dangerous!" Hunter K realized they were at a disadvantage and ordered a retreat—to lure Regigigas outside.

The hunters below didn’t hesitate. They executed a fighting retreat, retreating while firing back.
