Chapter 314: Capturing Regigigas

The enraged Regigigas, seeing Hunter K trying to flee, began moving in the direction of their retreat.

"Perfect—that’s it, Regigigas." Hunter K said excitedly as he watched Regigigas and the three Regi follow.

Since direct confrontation wasn’t working, their Plan B was to lure Regigigas into a battlefield specifically designed to counter it.

"Plan B?" Rio, hiding in the shadows, raised an eyebrow. He hadn’t known about this—he’d assumed the Hunter Organization was relying solely on their technology to capture Regigigas.

"Let’s follow them." Rio said, curious.

Mewtwo received the command and used Psychic to carry him along, tailing Regigigas and the three Regi, who were tailing the Hunter Organization.

Before long, Rio saw the Hunter Organization’s Plan B. They had lured Regigigas and the three Regi into a narrow canyon outside the temple. Then they released forty or fifty Quagsire, positioning them in front of and behind Regigigas and the three Regi.

Under Hunter K’s command, the Quagsire used only one move: Mud Sport. They rapidly turned the already narrow path into a muddy swamp, making it difficult for Regigigas and the three Regi to keep their footing. Even when Hyper Beams wiped out a wave of Quagsire, new ones would immediately appear and continue using Mud Sport.

"Clever." Rio had to admit, the Hunter Organization’s tactics were impressive. For legendary Pokémon like Regigigas and the three Regi, which couldn’t fly and had poor mobility, swamps were their worst enemy. It was a classic case of soft power overcoming brute force. Once trapped, Rio wasn’t sure how Regigigas would get out.

"Regiiiiii—!"

And as Rio predicted, as the Quagsire kept using Mud Sport, Regigigas and the three Regi were gradually sinking into the mud. They had immense power but no way to use it.

"Perfect—now! Use Hyper Beam at maximum output!" Hunter K, standing on Dragonite’s back, seized the opportunity. He ordered Hunter J’s ship and his own combat ship to aim at Regigigas and fire Hyper Beams.

The beams struck Regigigas, drawing pained cries. Though not enough to defeat it in one blow, it was clear that if this continued, Regigigas would eventually fall—unless it could free itself from the swamp.

"Alright. Time for us to make our entrance." Rio, being the observer, decided there was no need to stay on the sidelines any longer. It was time to give the Hunter Organization a surprise.

He threw out a Luxury Ball. A flash of light—Greninja appeared.

"Greninja, free Regigigas and take down all the hunters." Rio said.

"Koga~"

Greninja charged toward Regigigas’s position. A towering pillar of water erupted around it—it was undergoing Bond Evolution. Moments later, the water subsided, and Greninja had reached the complete stage of Bond Evolution. The Water Shuriken was now strapped to its back. Its level had jumped from 85 to 95, making it Rio’s highest-level Pokémon.

Without even using Xerneas’s divine move, Geomancy, Greninja displayed terrifying speed—even faster than before with Geomancy. It was hundreds of meters away one second and on the battlefield the next. Its light, agile body moved across the swamp as if it were solid ground. The Hunter Organization’s soft-power strategy against Regigigas was completely useless against it.

The Quagsire using Mud Sport didn’t even know what hit them. They felt a gust of wind, and then they fell. One by one, they collapsed in droves.

This sight horrified Hunter K and Hunter J in midair. All they could see was a blue streak of light darting below. Everywhere it passed, Quagsire fell.

This scene reminded Hunter K of the Greninja from a few days ago—the one that had cut through his Pokémon battle group in the forest with terrifying speed. Back then, it had been a golden streak, not blue.

"Please don’t be that Greninja..." Hunter K prayed silently. If it was, that meant the accursed Rio was nearby. And if Rio was here, then besides that terrifying Greninja, there would definitely be that Mewtwo too. If that was the case, the Hunter Organization was in deep trouble.

But fate was not on his side. Two seconds later, Hunter K saw the blue streak’s true form. Greninja had taken down all the Quagsire in front of and behind Regigigas in ten seconds, then stopped and stared up at the hunters in the air.

"It’s that Greninja!" Hunter K was horrified.

"Oh no—that bastard is nearby!"

"What’s wrong? What about this Greninja?" Hunter J, though also shocked by Greninja’s speed, hadn’t experienced the battle at the Hunter Organization headquarters.

"This is Rio’s Greninja!" Hunter K said through gritted teeth, frantically scanning the area for Rio.

"What?! This is Rio’s Greninja!" Hunter J was equally shocked. She quickly grabbed her communicator and ordered her ship: "Turn the tech cannons—aim at this Greninja!"

The hunters aboard received the command and aimed their Hyper Beam cannons at Greninja.

Below, Greninja squinted at the ship in the sky. It raised its right hand, and the Water Shuriken strapped to its back appeared in its palm, spinning rapidly. A towering pillar of water erupted once more—but this time, golden light began to appear within it. The light spread at a visible rate, forming a golden ring. Finally, it exploded into a massive golden Water Shuriken.

"Koga~!"

Greninja hurled the golden Water Shuriken toward the ship, which had just finished charging its Hyper Beam.

The golden Water Shuriken met the ship’s full-power Hyper Beam midair. The result: the golden Water Shuriken sliced through the Hyper Beam as easily as cutting through water, then pierced the ship’s hull, splitting it in two. The ship exploded in midair.

"How is that possible?!" Hunter J screamed in terror. She never imagined her ship would end like this—split in two by a single Water Shuriken from a Greninja. Even Regigigas couldn’t do that—so why could this Greninja?

She couldn’t accept it.

"No good—we have to abort the Regigigas capture and retreat immediately!" Facing this situation, Hunter K decided on a new plan: run, without hesitation. One Water Shuriken had split a ship in half. If it launched another and cut his ship too, he was finished.

But his plan was easier said than done. By the time he voiced the order to retreat, it was already too late for Greninja.

After splitting Hunter J’s ship, Greninja’s eyes locked onto Hunter K and Hunter J on their respective Pokémon. It moved, once again displaying that terrifying speed. Hunter K and Hunter J could only watch as it darted up the narrow canyon walls, their eyes unable to track it.

By the time they realized Greninja was coming for them, it had already launched itself from a branch, leaping seven or eight meters to appear right in front of them, Water Shuriken in hand.

"Dragonite, Thunder Punch!" Hunter K shouted in terror.

"Salamence, Dragon Claw!" Hunter J also screamed in panic.

But it was already too late—Greninja had struck a split second before their commands were given. It swung its Water Shuriken, slashing Dragonite across the face. Using Dragonite’s body as a springboard, it launched itself at Salamence, meeting its Dragon Claw midair. The result was a one-sided slaughter—Salamence’s claws were severed like vegetables, and it let out a pained cry as it plummeted.

Greninja wasn’t done. As it fell, it threw another golden Water Shuriken at the Hunter Organization’s second ship, splitting it in two just like the first.

"So strong. Way too strong." Zoroark, still watching from the shadows, was in awe.

"Why is this Greninja so powerful?" In its eyes, Greninja’s performance had even surpassed Regigigas. From its appearance to crushing all the Hunter Organization’s forces had taken less than a minute. Its strength was terrifying.

"Strong, right? That’s how it should be. As I said, as long as you follow my guidance, you can become just as strong." Rio smiled, once again recruiting Zoroark. "Because the reason Greninja is this strong is because it followed my guidance."

Zoroark studied Rio, trying to judge if he was serious. Could Greninja really have become this powerful just by following him?

"Don’t believe me? You can ask Greninja yourself later." Rio saw the doubt in its expression. "But first, watch how I capture Regigigas."

Rio looked at Mewtwo. Mewtwo understood and floated both of them out into the open.

"It’s you, Rio! I knew it was you!" Hunter K, who had been knocked into the canyon by Greninja, shouted in rage when he saw Rio.

"That’s right. It’s me—handsome as always." Rio replied teasingly.

"How did you know we’d be here?!" Hunter K continued shouting.

"Guess." Rio smiled.

Hunter K was even angrier—he wanted to curse.

"Alright, alright—to thank you for waking up Regigigas for me, I’ll tell you. Old Ghost has been hiding in your ship this whole time." Rio decided to stop teasing him.

"Gengar~"

To punctuate the moment, Gengar emerged from Rio’s shadow with a sly grin.

Seeing a Gengar appear from Rio’s shadow, Hunter K understood everything. They had been followed this entire time without ever noticing.

"Dragonite, Hyper Beam!" Hunter K shouted in rage.

"ROAR!!!"

His Dragonite began gathering a Hyper Beam aimed at Rio—but before it could fire, Greninja appeared behind it, Water Shuriken in hand. A single slash pierced through Dragonite’s thick scales, sending it collapsing.

"Dragonite!" Hunter K screamed in horror. But he was next—Greninja drove its Water Shuriken into his body. Hunter K fell.

"Boss K!" Hunter J screamed in fury. She ordered Salamence to use Flamethrower while raising her Petrification Gun at Greninja. But her attacks were useless against Greninja—like a toddler swatting at a mosquito. Greninja appeared behind her in an instant, slashing her throat and taking down Salamence as well.

The two leaders of the Hunter Organization were gone.

As they fell, a notification rang in Rio’s mind. He looked at Greninja’s back and smiled faintly. Then he turned his attention to the other side.

Regigigas and the three Regi were still stuck in the swamp, firing Hyper Beams wildly in all directions.

"Let’s soften it up first." Rio muttered. He didn’t think he could capture Regigigas just because it was trapped in a swamp. Lowering its HP was the right approach.

After Rio’s muttered command, Gengar volunteered first—it was time for it to shine. It had been a tool for days, always watching Mewtwo or Greninja take the spotlight. Enough was enough. It needed to stretch its limbs.

Rio didn’t refuse—he gave Gengar the chance to beat down Regigigas.

Before long, Regigigas and the three Regi started suffering. Gengar attacked relentlessly. Though Regigigas was Normal-type and immune to Ghost-type moves, Gengar had other elemental moves—and Dialga’s Roar of Time as well.

After one or two minutes of pummeling, Regigigas began to waver. The dots on its face flickered rapidly, signaling low stamina.

Rio took the opportunity to throw a Luxury Ball. Luck was on his side—after shaking three times in the mud, it showed a successful capture.
