Chapter 528: Chapter 528: Years of Misunderstandings Finally Resolved
The commotion in the ward attracted those outside.
They all came in too.
This time, Serena woke up for much longer than before.
Silas adjusted the angle of the hospital bed, allowing her to sit up, and gave her some warm water to make her feel a little better.
"Serena, how are you feeling now?" Bianca asked worriedly.
"I can’t really say," Serena said slowly, having just woken up and feeling a little sluggish, "But it’s so good to see you all."
Everyone nodded.
They talked to her a lot, but most of the time, she just nodded or replied with a few words.
It was still a bit tiring for her to speak now.
Once the initial excitement of the group subsided, Sheila came over.
Sheila’s eyes were red, filled with tears.
"Serena..." Sheila grasped Serena’s hand.
Serena recalled the previous events, her eyes slightly reddened, unsure what to say.
She opened her mouth, wanting to call "Mom," but was afraid of Sheila’s rejection.
Seeing this scene, the others quietly left the room, leaving only the mother and daughter together.
The door closed, leaving Serena and Sheila alone in the room.
Serena looked at Sheila in front of her.
Sheila’s tears kept falling, and Serena leaned forward to wipe the tears off Sheila’s face.
Sheila held onto her hand.
"Serena," Sheila said, crying, "I know everything now."
Sheila looked at Serena, her eyes filled with only Serena’s image.
"It was my fault," Sheila said through her tears, "Can you forgive me, Serena?"
A rush of acidity filled her nose, and tears overflowed instantly.
Serena looked at Sheila, her heart aching.
For all these years, she had wanted to reconcile with her mom.
The misunderstandings between them were resolved.
Though what she wanted was not an apology from her mom.
Nor did she want to make Sheila sad in such a drastic way.
But with the current outcome, she was also very happy.
"Mom..." Serena’s tears kept falling, her voice hoarse.
Sheila reached out to wipe the tears from her face.
"Yes, Serena," Sheila replied softly.
"Mom!" Serena called again, tears seemingly endless.
"Serena!" Sheila reached out, holding her tightly in her arms.
For the first time in so many years, the mother and daughter tightly embraced.
Everything seemed just like the past.
Serena lay in Sheila’s arms, unable to control her crying.
They talked about many things, unraveling all the misunderstandings over the years.
In the end, Sheila seemed to remember something and said, "Oh, there’s still something I haven’t told you."
Serena looked up at Sheila.
"William’s sentence has been extended," Sheila said, "We reviewed what he did to you and submitted the materials."
Serena was a bit conflicted, attempting to speak: "What about you..."
She knew Sheila cared a lot about William.
Sheila gently brushed Serena’s hair and said, "I’ve let him go."
Afraid that Serena wouldn’t believe her, she said, "Clara took me to meet many people... um... I realized I had been too shortsighted before."
Serena laughed and snuggled back into Sheila’s embrace.
"Mom, during the days I wasn’t awake, I went back to the past," Serena said while lying in Sheila’s arms, "Back to the days when we were happily together, mom, I missed you so much."
Sheila gently patted Serena’s back, crying: "Serena, over these years, I had been too stubborn and forgot the original intention."
"Serena, from now on, I will make up for all of it."
Serena nodded in Sheila’s arms.
She would also be doubly good to her mom.
Luckily, the mother and daughter resolved their differences.
Fortunately, they still had a very long time together.
After they finished speaking, everyone gathered around her in the evening, watching her eat.
This made her feel very awkward.
"Aren’t you going to eat?" Serena asked.
"Once we see you eat, we will," Bianca laughed, "Try it, see if you like it?"
Silas wanted to feed her, but Serena shook her head, refusing.
"I’ll eat by myself," Serena said.
Being watched by so many people was too embarrassing.
Silas placed the spoon in her hand, letting her hold it firmly.
Serena held the spoon, dipping it into the bowl of porridge.
Then she tried to lift the spoon full of porridge, but it tilted.
The porridge fell back into the bowl from the spoon.
The others all pretended to see nothing, discussing how tall the trees outside had grown.
Serena stared at the spoon, slightly dazed.
She placed the spoon into the porridge again, trying to lift it.
But there was not much strength in her hand, unable to hold it steadily.
At that moment, a hand grasped hers, steady and firm, helping her scoop up the porridge.
Serena looked beside her and saw Silas.
"Serena, you’ve been in a coma for a long time, and your body’s functions have regressed. With rehabilitation, you will slowly get better." He softly said by her side, "Let me take care of you these days, okay?"
Serena’s eyes turned slightly red, as she nodded.
Just like that, Serena drank the porridge with Silas’s help.
The taste was familiar.
Serena looked towards Ethan on one side.
"Ethan," Serena called.
Ethan smiled with a nod: "How is it?"
"Delicious," Serena laughed.
"Well, at least your taste buds are still working," Ethan laughed, "You can still recognize my culinary skills."
"Of course," Serena nodded, "Ethan, your cooking is top-notch. I always thought the Lynch Family hired a special chef."
"Isn’t that the chef of our Lynch Family?" Bianca laughed.
Everyone laughed.
The earlier awkwardness completely disappeared.
With Silas’s help, Serena finished the porridge, and everyone felt a little more reassured seeing she was fine.
"You should go eat now," Serena urged, "I’m done eating."
Everyone nodded, reluctantly leaving while joking that they would bring her a late-night snack later.
But since Serena just woke up, she couldn’t eat indiscriminately.
Serena watched them leave, her eyes filled with smiles.
However...
At the doorway stood a wheelchair, and in it sat someone.
It was Julian Lawson.
He had been waiting on the sidelines, watching her from afar, not coming closer.
Now that the others went to eat, she noticed him.
Silas was still by Serena’s side, tidying up her things, and took a handkerchief to wipe her hands.
Following her gaze, he saw Julian waiting by the door.
After thinking for a while, Silas looked at Serena and said, "He said he wants to talk to you alone."
