Chapter 38: 38: System? Really? Right Now??
"Cub?" Rai confirmed. "So the rumors are true. The F-rank female could actually bear cubs! And she can even bear the S-rank tribe leader’s cub?"
He had spoken the minds of these surprised beastmen who only stared in shock. They guessed it wasn’t a mere rumor since Lord Ash basically confirmed it now.
But Lord Ash didn’t dwell much on it all. He simply turned and walked off. "Hurry up, we don’t have the whole day."
Rai and Ayra followed behind him as Commander Lynn walked behind them while he stared at Ayra from behind.
The other beastmen were now at the back, staring in surprise while they discussed what they’d heard. They were surprised at Lord Ash’s disposition towards Ayra. They couldn’t help but wonder if they had officially become mates now. Without any ceremony?
According to what they’d heard about the outside, before people bore cubs and be together, they become mates. It was an intimate process which usually came with ceremonial functions and all.
But their tribe never bothered about it. None of them took mates anyway. So it didn’t matter. But now that a female was bearing the tribe leader’s cub, they wondered if they’d witness any ceremony at all.

They were minutes into the woods now, walking past the forest while carefully assessing the area they were moving through.
As they moved, Rai had endless questions for Ayra about different things: Her previous tribe, her skills, and her newly blooming beauty.
She casually smiled as she said, "Well, let’s just say that I’m taking a good bath."
Soon, they had gotten to a place as Lord Ash who was in front suddenly came to an abrupt stop. They all stopped as well as they stared at him.
Commander Lynn looked around. "This area isn’t supposed to be contaminated... It was safe a few weeks ago," he observed, as the beastmen all looked around surprised.
"Exactly..." Lord Ash agreed. "I guess these monsters have managed to expand their territory here. With time, they’d probably take more areas than they should."
"What should we do then?" One of the beastmen asked.
"We came here for the food stuff. And unfortunately, it’s in their contaminated zone. So even if it means fighting our way through, we must get them," Lord Ash said firmly.
They stood there, carefully studying the area. They could pick up auras of these monsters around. And before long, they slowly began hearing sounds.
They heard movements in the bushes and saw figures moving around in a flash. They could easily tell that it was these monsters.
"This place is getting dangerous..." Rai pointed out. "Should we strike first?"
"Let’s observe..." Lord Ash suggested as they slowly moved closer. The other beastmen surrounded them for protection, pulling out their weapons.
And just then, one of these monsters jumped out of its hiding. A huge black leopard with red eyes and sharp claws. The beast had slimy spit drooling from its mouth as it flew towards them, ready to pounce.
"Careful!" One of them informed as a beastman pulled his weapon and struck at it. It fell down on its back and immediately got up to its feet to attack.
Five beastmen pulled their weapons and faced it. And immediately, more of these monsters began jumping out of their hiding. And the beastmen approached to fight them.
Ayra stepped backwards as the system beeped.

Ayra blinked as she stared at the system. "What a rip-off... Can’t you at least read the room, dear system?"
She shook her head as she watched these beastmen fight. They outnumbered these monsters for now but it didn’t seem like they could hold them back forever. Some were already getting injured.
Immediately, Ayra turned to Commander Lynn who was standing beside her. "Hey," she called onto him as he looked down at her.
"Do you want to kiss?"

"..."
Rai, Lord Ash and Commander Lynn’s reactions were priceless to her random request. They were like, really?! At this moment?!
"What are you talking... about?" Commander Lynn was beyond shocked.
But Ayra didn’t think she had time to explain. She instantly stood on her toes, stretched her hands and held onto his cheeks, pulled him closer. "Just trust me, okay?"
Before Commander Lynn could even protest, Ayra pulled him closer and crashed her lips into his. She pressed him deeper into the kiss, brushing her lips gently over his while pressing her tongue in. Her tongue broke into his and licked through his mouth.
Lord Ash blinked, speechless while Rai slowly covered his eyes with a hand while also peeking.
It was a quick kiss. As soon as their tongues mixed briefly in the intense kiss, Ayra slowly pulled back and stared into his face.
She smiled as she stared at his flushed face. "You’re blushing."
"..." Commander Lynn had no words as he instantly pulled backwards, clearing his throat and looking away.

Ayra smiled as she opened her arms to see a bottle appear in her hands. "Got it."
Commander Lynn also stared at her hand, surprised to see a bottle. But before he could even speak, Ayra turned.
They watched as Ayra took the bottle and bent down. She followed the system’s instructions and opened the bottle, spilling the smoke to the ground and slowly watching it disperse.
The greenish smoke dispersed through the ground and slowly began taking over the atmosphere. Slowly, its unique scent could be perceived all around the place.
And without much stress, it had slowly began taking effect almost immediately as the wild monsters slowly stopped fighting as soon as they had picked up the smell.
