Chapter 429: Bonding With The Celestial Beast!
The Golden Crow hovered at the center of Sebastian’s mind, drawing all his attention as he could no longer focus on anything else.
This Crow was like a normal crow found on earth, but it was far more gigantic, and its whole body glowed golden. The shining golden feathers were enough to reveal that this was no ordinary Crow.
Sebastian met a real literal Golden Crow for the first time in his life.
The black eyes of the Golden Crow which served as a great contrast to its golden glowing body looked down on Sebastian fondly, without any exchange of words, the affinity between both existences was already overflowing.
Unlike the previous Celestial Beasts that had paid a visit to his mind, the Golden Crow did not start with questions immediately like this was an interview.
While Sebastian was still mesmerized by the sight and the strange feeling of affinity and closeness that he felt, the Golden Crow did something as the golden glow of its body suddenly seemed to intensify.
The next moment, Sebastian saw himself floating up towards the Golden Crow. He was horrified but he could not stop his ascent till he arrived directly before the massive head of the Golden Crow.
Crack!
To Sebastian’s shock, a crack opened in the head of the Golden Crow through which he floated inside the head of the Golden Crow!
Sebastian was flabbergasted, but the crack already mended itself, now he was plunged into a world of darkness. Before Sebastian could react, his mind-body was held firmly as a lot of strange memories invaded him.
Bzzz!
The next moment, Sebastian felt like his mind was fragmented into a thousand pieces. In his mind world, what seemed like thousands of mental projections appeared before him which he rapidly accessed.
Shockingly, these were the memories of the Golden Crow.
As a Celestial Beast that separated directly from the primordial origin magic, the Golden Crow already lived for over half a millennium, but despite this, its memories and personality were still innocent.
Throughout all these years, till they met their fated chosen, the Celestial Beasts had no choice but to live a life of isolation in their designated Manapedias.
Now, the mind of this innocent beast was laid bare before Sebastian.
Sebastian was shocked at first, but he soon relaxed as he didn’t feel any sense of danger. Then, he finally started actively accessing the memories.
Like he already expected, the life of the Golden Crow was fairly boring, he only got to interact with his fellow Celestial Beasts in this honeycomb-like structure for the past half a millennium.
His personality was the peculiar factor. The Golden Crow could be seen as an extrovert beast, he was extremely curious, outspoken, a great lover of anything speedy and speed itself.
To Sebastian’s shock, the Golden Crow’s current silence was the longest it had gone when meeting an outsider or its fellow Celestial Beasts.
This Celestial Beast was so good at talking and annoying at the same time that its fellow Celestial Beasts avoided it like the plague, while the few predators that qualified in other Induction Ceremonies suffered at its handling.
The current version of the Golden Crow was the gentlest, Sebastian was flabbergasted. "Is this love at first sight?"
After taking his time to go through all the memories of the Golden Crow, Sebastian finally understood the point that they had in common.
What he had in common with the Golden Crow was the love for speed.
Though Sebastian never really gave much emphasis to it, he was a lover of speed. He was a man, and that was kind of enough of an explanation already.
Back on earth, he loved nice food but hated meticulous cooking, he hated makeup due to how much time it took, fashion was a great enemy of his since he felt that it needed too much attention like it was a f*cking baby.
The only thing he really loved then was football and anatomy.
This highlighted his personality. Though this did not exactly set him apart as a lover of speed, he hated all those things because of how much time they took from him, and that could be seen as a love for speed, at least to the Golden Crow.
This was the source of the affinity between Sebastian and the Celestial Beast.
Once Sebastian understood it, he was ecstatic. The Golden Crow felt his ecstasy as it finally released him from its head.
As soon as Sebastian came out, the Golden Crow spoke.
"You love speaking about topics that you like extensively, right?"
"Yeah, I guess so, I love talking about anatomy and football for hours and the thing is that I rarely get tired of it".
The Golden Crow released a cackle which at this moment didn’t sound spooky to Sebastian like he expected, this was all because he could feel the emotions of the Celestial Beast.
"You enjoy others validating what you do?"
"Umm, yes".
"You love exciting encounters a lot? Like, you’re an adventurer at heart whose curiosity usually gets the better of you, right?"
"Umm..." Sebastian felt awkward. "Yes".
"Great!" The Golden Crow was ecstatic.
"You love music?" The Golden Crow’s head was now hopping up and down like those of an Agama lizard. "I learned about it from the heads of the previous qualifiers of the ceremony who came here, and I absolutely loved it".
"Yeah, I can say I’m a lover of music".
"Awesome!" The Golden Crow’s excitement at this moment knew no end.
"So, as I saw, you are a lover of speed, right?"
Sebastian took his time to organize his thoughts before answering this one. "Yeah, I hate time-consuming tasks that eat up my time unnecessarily".
"I love doing things with speed. You know, at some point, when doing one thing, I almost always do another at the same time since I feel that killing multiple birds with one stone which is my time here is better than going for one".
"So, I guess I’m a lover of speed, like you".
The Golden Crow bobbed up and down like an excited kid who finally got the chocolate that was promised to him by his dad last Christmas.
"You’re the one, Sebastian, let’s bond!"
"..." Sebastian was speechless. "Slow down, slow down, what’s bonding?"
"It’s this!" The Golden Crow made its move before Sebastian could react.
From the blue, this massive predator dived toward Sebastian. The momentum of the dive was so aggressive that Sebastian was intimidated, he couldn’t retreat though, he seemed to be under the effects of paralysis.
As the Golden Crow dived closer towards him, it shrank from its previous enormous size to a size that was as big as only half Sebastian’s head.
While Sebastian could only watch in shock, the Golden Crow dived into his head and disappeared completely from his vision and perception.
"Where did it go?" Sebastian felt a little unsettled.
Boom!
The next moment, Sebastian grimaced as he felt a torturous amount of pain exploding in his head. At this moment, Sebastian felt like he was a vampire and copious amounts of silver were being injected into his brain.
He felt braindead, but the pain was still real.
His whole body convulsed in pain even though this was just a body formed by his mind. The pain was so much that while screaming, Sebastian tried without success numerous times to faint.
This continued for what felt like an eternity.
After a long time, Sebastian suddenly saw golden sparks emerging from his head. His head suddenly seemed to have turned to a conductor for golden electricity which was now coursing through his veins.
From his head, the golden sparks spread through his whole body as golden speckles started appearing to cover his skin the next moment.
In what felt like a few minutes, Sebastian turned into a Golden Megalodon.
At this point, all the pain from all the unknown activities that happened to him was already gone but the residual pain and the trauma were still there as Sebastian grimaced, wondering what just happened.
The Red tier Mana Lord never explained a scenario like this, was the Golden Crow simply screwing with him? What were all these?
Amid his numerous questions, Sebastian stabilized some more before his system notification lit up before him the next moment.
