Chapter 428: Celestial Beast, The Golden Crow.
"My name is Draconous, what is your name?"
"..."
Sebastian was stunned. Just the fact that he was speaking to a real Dragon was already shocking enough, but the even more astonishing fact that he was currently speaking with a Celestial Beast was what shocked him the most.
The Red tier Mana Lord who addressed them did not reveal any concrete details about the acknowledgment test to them.
According to him, the last test of the Induction Ceremony, the acknowledgment test was completely random and depended heavily on luck.
The Celestial Beasts could decide to take an official approach at times, or they may suddenly decide to take an extremely peculiar and unexpected approach, or even decide to take a casual approach.
Sebastian didn’t know much, but from the little that he knew and just saw, this time, the approach felt like an interview to him.
"Damn, I vowed to never experience this feeling again".
Sebastian felt tears streaming down his eyes but he had no luxury to continue wallowing in sadness, he knew that he had to respond immediately, the mere fact alone that he was keeping the Dragon waiting horrified him.
"Esteemed Dragon Sir.."
"Call me Draconous".
"Ok, Sir Draconous".
"Draconous..." The Dragon’s voice dragged this time, causing Sebastian to feel like a cold wind just blew past him, he shuddered.
"Ok, Draconous..., my name is Sebastian".
"Sebastian, a generic non-aggressive name". From the tone of the Dragon, it was already clear that Sebastian’s chances of receiving its acknowledgment were already dropping rapidly.
The Black Dragon swept his powerful glowing eyes through Sebastian’s glowing form as he seemed to have read all his secrets like a book.
"A mana core of extremely high quality, commendable".
"The sound magic domain, a semi-aggressive magic domain, cowardly".
"A special magic ability, telekinesis, commendable".
"2 unique skills, admirable but not aggressive enough".
"What is your personality?" The Dragon’s voice boomed loudly all of a sudden as his massive orange eyes pinned that of Sebastian.
"..."
Sebastian was speechless for a few minutes before he finally found his voice and answered. "Umm, I am an anatomist with a highly motivated personality, I love sharing ideas with people, and I am a meticulous thinker".
On getting no response from the Dragon, only feeling its glare on his skin, Sebastian could only bite his lips and continue.
"My number one hobby is anatomy, I don’t have many side hobbies but I love singing, and also getting things done fast is my hobby too".
"Have you killed before?"
"Yes, I have killed a lot of predators, including some powerful ones like the Chaos Mongers and even a weakened Red tier predator.
"How did you kill them, what is your kill method?"
"...Please excuse me, did you say I should discuss how I kill?"
"Yes".
"..."
"Ok, I mostly kill through my skills in battle, it..."
While Sebastian overcame his awkwardness and started explaining the way that he killed other predators in detail, the Black Dragon was extremely attentive as he devoured every piece of information that came from Sebastian.
A few minutes later, when Sebastian finally stopped, he spoke again.
"What is your battle style?"
"Offense is my defense".
"Excellent!" The massive Black Dragon gave Sebastian such an exciting compliment for the first time but he still had a look of disappointment on his face.
"Your battle style is great; it fits perfectly with you but your mindset is too weak to receive my acknowledgment".
"You are not the chosen one".
With that, the Black Dragon gave Sebastian no second chances as he directly teleported out of this world in his mind, leaving him lonely for a time again.
Once Sebastian was left alone, his mind became a hub of activity as he thought through the encounter that he just had with the Celestial Beast that took on the form of a mighty Black Dragon.
Through the mind transfer from the Red tier Mana Lord who addressed him and his comrades, Sebastian already knew a bit about the Celestial Beasts.
Despite having an idea already, seeing was believing.
It was after he spoke with the Black Dragon that he really understood his situation and what he was facing.
From the Red tier Mana Lord, he learned that Celestial Beasts were born from the fragments of the primordial origin essence and that they already grew intelligence and consciousness that could think and communicate.
Despite knowing this already, Sebastian still didn’t take it as seriously and was pretty shocked by the amount of intelligence displayed by the Dragon.
Celestial Beasts were not just intelligent, but they were so intelligent that they already developed emotions. From the short encounter with the Black Dragon, Sebastian already confirmed that progress was related to their emotions.
From the little that the Black Dragon said in the previous conversation, Sebastian confirmed that acknowledgment was in line with emotions.
Before he could luck out and bond with any of these beasts, his personality needed to be in line with that of the specific Celestial Beast.
Sebastian finally understood why the Red tier Mana Lord said that luck was heavily involved in being selected by the gifts.
If he was unlucky enough and none of them over a dozen Celestial Beasts thought in line and lived in line with his personality, then he was screwed.
After the Black Dragon left his head, it only took about a minute before the 2nd Celestial Beast appeared in his head. This time, the Celestial Beast was a Pheonix as it also started its interview on him.
Throughout the next 30 minutes, 9 Celestial Beasts met him as they all engaged him in interviews where Sebastian became exposed to the weirdest of questions that could ever come out of a Celestial Beast.
To his horror and disappointment though, none of these 9 Celestial Beasts had a personality that was in line with his, Sebastian was indignant.
Unlike how he expected it, he had no control over the acknowledgment test at all, all he had to do was to wait and hope against all hope for one of these Celestial Beasts to have the same personality as him but it wasn’t working.
In Sebastian’s frustration, the 10th Celestial Beast finally came along.
The 10th Celestial Beast was a Golden Crow. And unlike the others, once this Celestial Beast appeared, Sebastian felt a sense of closeness to it.
He was not sure, but he felt that he had something in common with the beast. Though he felt a little horrified to think of it the least, from what was happening, Sebastian was sure that they both shared something in common.
This common thing was surprisingly, speed!
