Chapter 929: Chapter 929 A Sample_1

He lifted his gaze again to meet those beautiful amber-like eyes and curved his lips in a smile. "Could it be that you truly have no intention of considering anyone else, my dear auntie?"

The term was a simple one for an elder relative, and yet, it took on a profound nuance when uttered from his lips.

Hannah shook her head and pushed him away, "Why have you become just like George River?"

Jimmy Simmons stumbled awkwardly to the ground but didn’t care and simply sat there on the floor, patting the dust off his trousers. "George River is useless, a man who dares to speak but not to act. If it weren’t for my indulgence back then, how could he possibly..."

At this point, noticing Hannah watching him, Jimmy halted his speech, adopting a somewhat frivolous demeanor, "How about it, dear auntie? Won’t you reconsider my proposition? Honestly, I’m not any worse than your husband."

"Is that so?" She laughed, radiant as the splendor of spring, yet her words remained aloof, "In my eyes, you fall far short of him."

Jimmie Simmons’ smile faded slightly.

He then stood up and steadily approached the person seated on the swing, his expression very different from his previous playful demeanor. The eyes that were lowered now bore a slight oppressiveness. He was about to say something when, from a distance, several calls could be heard.

The calls likely came from a servant who had not found Hannah, growing anxious and hence starting to look for her.

The words on the tip of his tongue retracted, Jimmy seemed to revert to his usual self, offering suddenly, "May I push the swing for you, dear auntie?"

Hannah looked up at him, a smile refloating on her lips, "Jimmy, as for pushing the swing, it’s better left to your uncle to do it personally."

A brief pause crossed Jimmy’s eyes as he caught sight of the figure beyond, tugging the corner of his lips with a hint of wariness.

In the distance, Arnold Simmons—who had arrived at some undetermined point—stood under a banyan tree, his gaze replete with cold disdain and a warning as he watched Jimmy, calling out sternly, "Jimmy Simmons."

"So it’s Uncle..."

Before Jimmy could finish speaking, the person who had just been sitting on the swing was already standing up, and, after a brief jog, darted into Arnold Simmons’ embrace, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck and affectionately nuzzling against him.

Then, with a tone akin to tattling and a pair of soft whines, "Arnold, your nephew said we shouldn’t be together, that we must separate."

Upon hearing this, even Jimmy, who had harbored intentions of teasing Hannah moments before, was taken aback, watching their intimate gesture, forgetting to argue.

Arnold Simmons held the restless figure in his arms, reaching out to wipe away the few tears that had welled up at the corners of her eyes.

The faintly tingling sensation made Hannah quickly bow her head again, seeking refuge in the man’s embrace like a restless pet looking for shelter. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Did you say that?" Arnold Simmons lifted his gaze to the person before him, his eyes heavy with unspoken emotions that nonetheless conveyed an overwhelming sense of superiority.

Jimmy had never wished to bow before Arnold Simmons, but now, his circumstances did not allow otherwise.

Although the Simmons Clan was in his hands, Arnold Simmons could reclaim it if he so wished, a fact that became ever clear the deeper Jimmy was embedded in the core of the Simmons Clan.

"I did." He bowed his head slightly, diverting his gaze from Hannah with a hint of reluctance, yet his tone remained steady.

Arnold Simmons’ expression remained unchanged, his voice devoid of emotion, "It seems the company’s affairs aren’t enough to keep you busy, leaving you spare time to meddle unnecessarily."

Jimmy lifted his head, his eyes ablaze with repressed anger, his tone, however, was nonchalant.
