Chapter 930: Chapter 930 Meaningful Things_1

"With Uncle handling the company’s affairs, even if I don’t bother with anything, nothing should go wrong, I would assume."

The words were laden with deep meanings, heavy with mockery and jest.

The standoff between the protagonist and the antagonist was like a bomb with its fuse lit.

Nobody knew how long the fuse was, nor did they know the limits of the protagonist’s patience; the sizzling sound of the sparks always unnervingly raised one’s heartbeat.

The sky seemed to grow increasingly overcast as the biting wind howled, sweeping up leaves from the ground, casting the backyard in a desolate, forlorn scene.

The old, rusting playground equipment creaked shrilly, as if it would fall apart at any moment.

Only the little wooden cabin in the corner remained just as it had been back then.

Arnold Simmons glanced at it briefly before returning his gaze to Jimmy Simmons, his expression unwavering, his tone indifferent, "Now that you have become the president of the Simmons Clan, you should take matters into your own hands."

"Yes, Jimmy, you’re not getting any younger. You can’t always hope for your uncle to handle everything for you." Hannah suddenly spoke, tilting her head to look at Arnold Simmons’s impeccable handsome face, her voice softening, "You should also let your uncle have more time to spend with me."

Jimmy clenched his fists quietly, sneering, "Uncle probably doesn’t know that outside, everyone says this so-called president of the Simmons Clan is nothing but a puppet in your hands, without any real authority."

He had always been a golden child, poised high above the rest, indoctrinated from a young age with the belief that he was the Simmons Clan’s sole heir.

He never thought that one day he would need to depend on others, to watch people’s faces. Although he always told himself to be patient, confronting Arnold Simmons was a different matter.

That so-called patience was challenged to its limits every moment.

Arnold Simmons’s expression was serene; he gently rubbed the head of the little girl in his arms, clearly not focusing on Jimmy, and his voice was extremely cold, "The fact that such rumors exist only proves your own lack of action."

Jimmy gripped his fists tighter, finding no words to retort, as reason was constantly battered by rage.

He forced himself to calm down, turning instead to Hannah and deliberately mentioned in front of Arnold Simmons, "It seems I won’t get a chance today. Next time we meet, I’ll continue that unfinished story to little auntie. I’m sure you’ll be very interested."

Despite being the most innocuous of sentences, Jimmy said it with an ambiguity that seemed like a provocation towards Arnold Simmons.

Hannah sighed quietly to herself and upon looking up, sure enough, she saw Arnold Simmons looking at her, a tingling sensation spreading.

It was Arnold Simmons tracing her hand’s back with his fingertips, then parting his fingers to tightly interlock with hers.

The gesture was gentle to the extreme, yet it felt like a possessive grip so tight it left no room to breathe, as if his presence engulfed her completely.

Hannah could only say to Jimmy, "No need, I’d rather spend this time doing something meaningful with your uncle than listen to your story."

After speaking, she simply took Arnold Simmons’s hand and left, leaving Jimmy standing alone in the cold wind, his words yet unspoken.

He had said so much to Hannah today, solely to tell her that, at his core, Arnold Simmons is a bloodthirsty maniac.

A child who was barely over ten years old at the time had managed to kill a ferocious dog with his own hands, and even...

The events of that day had been too much for Jimmy to take.
