Chapter 868: Chapter 868 Not to Bother with Trouble_1
Hannah hadn’t answered yet when Louis Snyder cut in before her, flashing a smile at the man, "Mr. Qualls, don’t worry, I’ll naturally take good care of my sister. You don’t need to trouble yourself."
The youth’s smile carried a chill. When he stood up, his height wasn’t much shorter than Jackie Qualls’s.
Jackie Qualls frowned slightly but showed no intention of arguing with Louis Snyder, he sighed, "Hannah, consider it me begging you, stay away from George River, don’t..."
Don’t what?
Looking into Hannah’s eyes, filled with a smiling expression, the rest of his words got stuck in his throat.
Hannah’s lips curved up as she spoke softly, "Mr. Qualls knows quite a lot, to be so aware of my whereabouts. If they didn’t know better, people might think you’re my fervent fan."
Jackie Qualls pursed his lips, and after a moment, he said, "I’m just worried about you."
Louis Snyder snorted coldly from the side, "An old cow eating tender grass, it’s amazing how you can make such self-serving motives sound so noble. Truly worthy of an Academy Award winner." He then looked at Hannah, softening his voice, "Sister, don’t believe him."
Hannah looked at him, smiled, and said nothing.
Jackie Qualls rubbed his temple in frustration.
Dealing with Arnold Simmons and George River had been headache enough; he hadn’t expected Louis Snyder to suddenly throw himself into the mix.
The man’s gentle façade was on the verge of collapsing, even his voice laced with sharpness, "Louis Snyder, I’ve told you, if you’re looking to confront someone, you’ve got the wrong target."
Louis Snyder didn’t look at him, focusing only on Hannah, his eyes unabashedly filled with affection, intense and stubborn, his voice gentle yet chilling, "I like Sister, and everyone who covets her is my enemy."
Hannah didn’t respond to him, and stood up, her skirt gently falling around her ankles, creating a deep blue ripple.
Her smile was radiant, "Your affections come too cheap, shouting for attention on a street stall, someone might be interested, but that person won’t be me. Do as you please, I’m leaving."
After speaking, she left before the two could recover, as if the earlier commotion had nothing to do with her.
With Hannah gone, the two men fell silent.
After exchanging a glance, Jackie Qualls was the first to speak, "You don’t need to be so hostile towards me, my feelings for Hannah are genuine, and I naturally wouldn’t harm her, but the same can’t be said for George River."
Louis Snyder’s eyes hardened, a hint of malice showing through, "What do you mean?"
Jackie Qualls adjusted the loosened cuff on his wrist, his voice as calm and gentle as always, his gaze as mellow as a spring breeze, "Focus on your acting, you’re still young, there’s no need to be so stubbornly misguided."
This youth, who would later grow into a top megastar, was currently just a rising actor without the influential pull of later in the plot.
Nor did he possess substantial wealth or connections.
Against any of the three, he stood no chance whatsoever.
It was the hard truth, but to Louis Snyder’s ears, it was nothing but grating, like thousands of needles stabbing into his heart, over and over, the bleeding wouldn’t stop.
The teenager’s voice was defiant, his usually perfect smile cracked for the first time, but he still forced it upon his face, his voice trembling, "So what, we’re all people Hannah dislikes, I might not lose to you guys."
All disliked by her...
Jackie Qualls stiffened, tossed his tie carelessly into the trash bin, and walked towards the exit, his voice even but with a touch of indifference, "Say what you will, take care of yourself."
