Chapter 367: Chapter 367 I Don’t Like Him

Hannah remained silent for a long time.

Arnold Simmons chuckled lightly; the laugh, however, carried a hint of chilling cold. He extended his hand, cupping the delicate face in his arms, his dark eyes solemnly remarked, "Why aren’t you speaking?"

Hannah bit her lip and looked up at the figure in front of her, wanting to turn away but unable to. She stammered, "What do you want me to say?"

She paused then added with a hint of defiant anger, "Mr. Simmons, with all your vast resources, I presume you already know everything. Why bother asking me? Besides, even if I said something, there’s a high chance that you wouldn’t believe it."

The surroundings were quiet. Arnold was irritated, but his face remained impassive. He initially saw innocence and purity in the young girl’s expressive eyes, like a clean, dust-free mirror where one glance reveals what lies at the bottom.

"I thought I understood you," he said. "I want to hear it from you."

She struggled a few times, trying to escape from the oppressive constraints of the man, but her endeavors seemed futile. She closed her eyes and spilled everything, "Yes, George River was my former main benefactor. I loved him for two years, willingly dedicated myself to him, served as his substitute. During our breakup, I cried myself sick, wishing every day that he would change his mind. However, he just used me, took advantage of my feelings, and then tossed me aside."

Her eyes remained shut; she didn’t see the man’s increasingly deepening dark gaze but could feel the intensity of the glare he cast upon her.

Indeed.

Hannah’s words were like a sharp knife, cutting deep red lines across Arnold’s heart. The pain was unbearable, and she seemed to target the same wound each time.

Only Arnold knew that within his heart, there was a caged beast. The key was in Hannah’s hands, and each word of hers would drive the beast in his heart mad with obsession.

He was even thinking of clipping her wings and keeping her locked in a cage forever.

No matter who she loved, he would keep her by his side for the rest of her life.

There wouldn’t be anyone else.

No one.

He lowered his gaze, the shadow fell into his eyes, obscuring the raging emotions within, until a soft, velvety voice echoed by his ear.

She tiptoed, leaned towards his ear, and whispered softly, "Mr. Simmons, I don’t like him."

Hannah felt somewhat helpless, thinking that it would be more appropriate to reply with, "If you insist on believing that, I have no control."

However, she had a hunch that if she indeed responded in such manner, the consequences would be disastrous. Most probably, she would face a torrid time in bed. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

The man was placated, his furrowed brow relaxed. He carried an expression that suggested, "I knew it," even though he still looked indifferent, there was a hint of a smile on his face he could barely suppress. He cleared his throat, "Actually, I was just joking with you. I am not such a petty man."

Hannah blinked her eyes, "If you say so, all of a sudden, I actually think George River is not too bad. Though slightly scummy, he is good-looking and rich."

Arnold’s expression immediately turned somber, "No matter how wealthy he is, is he richer than I am?"

Hannah couldn’t help but laugh, looking up at the man’s stunning yet sunless face, "Mr. Simmons, you should have a little more confidence in your good looks."

His face alone was enough to make Hannah’s heart flutter.

Perhaps even George didn’t know that the reason Hannah first approached Arnold Simmons was because of his face.

After all, one must eat, and one must love.
