Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Don’t Nitpick

What Hannah did was merely expose all the inner truths that you are afraid to face and present them to you, in blood-soaked vulnerability.

She dropped the knife, yet the one holding the knife is you yourself.

Hannah...

She lived in her own world, had her own values and rules. Reflecting upon it now, May Hoffman thought that opposing Hannah was simply the most foolish decision of her life.

May Hoffman was somewhat fear-stricken, "Hannah Winter, you truly are a madwoman."

Hannah’s eyes curved in amusement, replying as carefree as ever, "Why, thank you for your compliment."

Upon returning to Old Taylor, George River was informed by a servant that Old Sir River had called a meeting with Arnold Simmons in his study. His face instantly became cold.

Since the disappearance of Jimmy Simmons, with Arnold Simmons now in power, any semblance of cordiality between the two families had completely broken down.

What’s more, George had always considered Arnold Simmons to be the enemy who murdered his brother, yet his grandfather welcomed Arnold into the house as a guest.

George’s face turned icy in an instant. He moved towards the study, only to be barred by a servant’s intervention.

Old Sir River had instructed that if George returned, he must be stopped and not allowed to barge in and interrupt.

George, staring at the person blocking his way, sneered, "Step aside."

No sooner had he said this than the door to the study upstairs opened.

Old Sir River still wore the appearance of a kind elderly man, but there was a sharp light gleaming in his slightly murky eyes, "I suppose Nephew Simmons is refusing to give an old man any respect."

He spoke almost jokingly, but his intention was serious.

Arnold Simmons remained impassive, his tone devoid of any fluctuations. A shallow curve appeared at the corner of his mouth, "You’re overstating it, Old Sir River."

"Are you really not reconsidering it?" Old Sir River sighed as though lamenting.

Arnold Simmons remained silent, making his stance clear.

Old Sir River took a good look at the man standing in front of him. Seeing the man’s smile failing to reach his eyes, his long and narrow eyes filled with chilling intent, he understood there was no room for negotiation.

A sense of sigh came over him. Indeed, life was unpredictable. The young man who was once at the mercy of others had become the ruthless head of the Simmons Family.

As Old Sir River was about to speak, remembering past events, George had already approached, calling out, "Grandpa."

Old Sir River nodded and then seeing George turn his gaze onto Arnold Simmons, he chimed in, "Speaking of which, the two of you were classmates. Although there’s a difference in generations, you could call him ’Uncle’ and revive the old days."

Arnold Simmons remained silent.

Contrarily, George appeared a bit agitated, his words carried the cold hardness of an ice cube, "Mr. Simmons’ life is tough. He can even harm his own relatives to death. I dare not forge any relationship with him."

"George!" Old Sir River admonished, "Apologize to your uncle."

George didn’t understand why his grandfather insisted on building a relationship with Arnold Simmons, when it was clear that Arnold had caused Jimmy’s disappearance. What uncle was he talking about!?

George held firm under his grandpa’s stern gaze.

He didn’t utter a single word.

An apology was even more impossible.

Old Sir River knew of his grandson’s temper, so he could only chuckle and turn to Arnold Simmons, "Nephew Simmons, George is still young and doesn’t understand, you’re a generation older, don’t bother about his tantrums."

His tone was polite, but he was clearly siding with his grandson, as if none of the events from the past had happened.

However, it was just adult small talk, so Arnold Simmons just nodded, his voice was distant and cold, "That’s gracious of you."
