Chapter 369: Load Chamber

Within the backyard of the Stark Residence the following morning...

Ethan was standing with one arm raised as he held a massive sphere of condensed black mass above his open palm.

Its gravitational pull was so immense that pebbles, loose soil, and fragments of stone across the yard were constantly being drawn upward.

Isabella carefully regulated the sphere’s suction, but with her control, the pressure radiating from it was enough to make the surrounding air feel unnaturally heavy.

With the possibility of dragons becoming involved in the search for his parents, coupled with the current situation involving both the Hero and the demons, Ethan had no choice but to return to his former training regimen.

This training regimen was designed to push his body through immense physical strain, forcing it to break beyond its current limits.

However, when Ethan glanced up at the mass of darkness, he couldn’t help but stare at it with disappointment.

Isabella noticed the look on his face almost immediately and smiled. "This isn’t really working for you anymore... is it?"

Ethan let out a sigh before lowering his head. "...No."

She then raised her right hand toward the sphere. Right then, the enormous mass dissolved into countless wisps of darkness.

Walking over to him, she smiled faintly. "I figured."

"The problem is..." Ethan began. "...I’ve already gone beyond the point where your current black hole is enough to elevate my body’s progress."

I know." Isabella nodded. "But if I make it any stronger than that, I might end up putting the entire house at risk."

"Yeah." Ethan nodded in agreement.

His gaze drifted across the backyard for a moment before he spoke again. "I’m a little frustrated."

"I don’t know what the future holds, and with everything surrounding my parents..." He exhaled. "I don’t want to find myself facing something I can’t defeat simply because I didn’t become strong enough in time."

Isabella’s expression softened. "I understand."

Then a thought suddenly crossed her mind. "You control gravity... have you ever considered creating a load chamber?"

Ethan nodded. "I actually did the first time you told me about it, but this training method had been working well enough that there wasn’t really any need."

"Creating the chamber itself isn’t the problem. But at my level, it can’t be inside the house." Ethan said.

"Then, of course, I thought about creating a special containment unit; something capable of confining extreme gravitational loads within a sealed space. But finding materials durable enough to withstand something like that..."

He shook his head ."...would be incredibly difficult. And even if I found them, building it would take a long time."

He smiled helplessly. "Time I don’t really have. Stark Industries already has its hands full with the lots of things we’re working on."

Isabella sighed. After a moment, she said, "Perhaps, my love, that’s something you’ll just have to figure out later."

She smiled gently before nudging him with her shoulder. "But for now, don’t you have somewhere else you’re supposed to be?"

Ethan nodded. "The Guild."

She nodded in return. "Then why don’t you go clear those zones while I head to work? We’ll figure something out afterward."

Ethan’s eyes widened. Almost instantly, he grinned excitedly. "Babe..."

He looked at her as though she had just handed him the missing piece to a puzzle he had been struggling to solve. "You’re a geniusss!"

Suddenly, Ethan crossed an arm around her waist, pulled her into a tight embrace, and planted an affectionate kiss on her cheek.

Isabella couldn’t help but smile, though she looked at him in complete confusion afterward. "What did I say?"

Ethan pulled back, still grinning to himself. "I think I just figured out how to build the load chamber."

He shook his head, almost laughing at how obvious it suddenly seemed. "The perfect load chamber... one that’ll be able to withstand as much gravity as I need."

Isabella tilted her head. "How?"

Ethan’s smile only widened. "Breach Zones."

For a brief moment, Isabella simply stared at him, watching the excitement on his face, before smiling to herself.

Even though she didn’t fully understand where he was going with it, she knew her husband was already several steps ahead and had likely worked everything out in his head.

Later that morning, at Clustervayne Guild...

"Alright, everyone. We have permits for three Breach Zones, and we’re already running out of time on two of them," Ethan began, addressing both the main and secondary teams, which together consisted of fourteen members, himself included.

"So today, it won’t just be Team One and Team Two. I’ll be splitting all fourteen of us into three teams."

With that, he began assigning everyone.

He placed Bettie and Aliyah in charge of one team to handle the B-Rank Breach Zone. It was the least dangerous of the three and still had four days before reaching the point of a dimensional break.

That was precisely why he assigned them there, to minimize the risks they themselves would face.

Wilson was placed in charge of another team tasked with clearing the A-Rank Breach Zone. That one had only 48 hours remaining before reaching break status.

As for the last Breach Zone, an S-Rank with the same 48-hour deadline, Ethan chose to bring only Percival and Hayley with him.

Once the assignments were finalized, the teams split up and headed to separate changing rooms to gear up. Not long afterward, they departed for their respective Breach Zones.

Ethan and the Arcorys siblings stepped into the Breach Zone. As soon as they entered, Ethan raised a hand and slowly traced his palm along the cavern wall.

Walking behind him, both siblings exchanged puzzled glances before looking back at him, each wondering what exactly he was doing.

It was then that Ethan turned toward them. "Actually... I want to try something."

"What’s that?" Hayley asked.

Ethan gestured around the cavern. "I’m going to try using this place as a load chamber."

Percival had a puzzled expression. "Uh..."

"Yeah, it’s something Bella told me about once," Ethan began, trying to explain. "A room where the gravity is increased to five or even ten times what you’d normally experience. She and some of her siblings were forced to train in a place like that while they were growing up."

Both siblings looked at him with mild surprise as he continued. "Bella’s also a Guardian, so it was excellent training for her."

"Okaaay..." Hayley said slowly, still sounding only half convinced. "But how exactly do you plan to do that here? I can already hear those monsters making their way toward us."

Ethan shook his head with an amused smile. "As for the how, don’t worry. I’m still figuring that part out myself. But the truth is, my physical training has slowed down considerably, and if this works, I’ll be able to break past my current limits much faster."

He let out a sigh. "As you both know, I’m searching for my parents, and that search could eventually put me face-to-face with dragons. This is part preparation for that."

He then turned toward the dark passage ahead. "And as for the monsters..."

A smile spread across his face as he stretched a hand toward the approaching sounds echoing from deep within the cavern.

Suddenly, massive bolts of lightning erupted from his palm and surged down the tunnel, tearing through the incoming horde and annihilating every last one of them.

The trio eventually arrived at a much larger section of the cavern, illuminated by bluish crystals embedded throughout the walls.

The ceiling soared so high that the glow from the crystals never reached it, while the cavern floor stretched so far into the distance.

As Ethan stepped into the open chamber, his right hand was already raised. Dozens of monster corpses floated through the air before him under the influence of his gravity.

They were called Flayers; grotesque S-Rank monsters that moved on all four limbs. Their entire bodies were covered in rows of bony, fang-like protrusions that looked as though countless teeth had erupted directly from their flesh. Each possessed an enormous head dominated by a massive jaw lined with the same vicious teeth.

With a casual wave of his hand, the floating carcasses drifted toward one side of the cavern before crashing down into an enormous pile.
