Chapter 373: Barely a Scratch

Chapter 371

BOOOOM—!

The Aspirants all vaulted into the air at the same time.

Nebula’s numerous eyes rolled around and caught sight of the teens suspended in the air.

Felix punched his claws together as he descended, slashing downward with his razor-sharp nails.

Clang—! Clang—! Clang—!

Felix’s claws crashed onto Nebula’s head with such momentum that even solid stone should have been split apart.

Alas!

The claws slid off the beast’s head like wet soap across a smooth surface.

"CHLOE!" Trisha screamed out as a colossal leg sped towards her from the side.

Gripping her katana tightly, Trisha’s eyes flashed with cold determination while feeling the air beside her cave in the closer the leg came.

At the very last moment, before the leg could cleave her in two, Chloe’s telekinetic ability activated, throwing the girl backward and sending her sliding beneath the beast’s massive leg.

Instead of landing on the beast like the others, Kai crashed into the ground directly before her.

With gritted teeth, the boy lifted his gauntleted hand and bashed it into the ground.

Rumble! Rumble!..

A huge crystal pillar burst out of the ground and rocketed towards the Spider Queen.

Nebula’s eyes rolled to catch the pillar heading her way.

With an almost bored motion, one of her legs lashed through the air and collided with the pillar.

Booom—!

Crystals were almost as hard as diamonds.

Earth was durable, but the Crystal ability was even tougher and capable of causing greater destruction.

Yet, right before Kai’s eyes, the Queen’s powerful leg smashed through the crystal pillar as though it were nothing more than brittle ice.

Flap! Flap! Flap!

Half of Nebula’s eyes rolled to catch sight of Ray descending towards her head with his daggers gripped tightly in his hands.

His eyes remained hardened with resolve despite the countless eyes locked onto him.

Just a few seconds away from impact, Nebula’s eyes flashed intensely.

’Wha—?!’

A crushing wave of pressure slammed into the boy, threatening to rip through his mind.

’A mind attack?’

Even with how much pressure Nebula was trying to exert over his mind, she was unable to break through his mental defences.

"Aww.... sorry, beautiful. It won’t work." Ray smirked as lightning crackled around the soles of his feet.

Bang!

He descended with blazing speed.

His daggers slammed into her back.

Clang!

Sparks flew as the daggers struck her back, unable to bite through her tough violet chitin.

Ray gritted his teeth, putting every ounce of strength he could muster into the daggers as he desperately tried to cut through the chitin.

But it didn’t work.

With all the speed he could muster, Felix lunged forward, his muscles flexing while watching Kai leap from side to side, weaving between the two colossal legs relentlessly chasing after him.

Flipping backward and planting his hands on the ground, Kai summoned another crystal pillar that tore upward, colliding with one of the massive legs.

As usual, it didn’t do much.

"Awhooooo!" Felix howled with intensity.

His speed surged as he left cracks in the spot where he had been standing only a moment earlier.

Pouncing into the air, Nebula spotted him and sent two legs chasing after him.

However, the werewolf suddenly changed the trajectory of his pounce.

Leaping off the empty air as though he had bounced off a hidden trampoline, Felix began darting about erratically.

Left, right, up, back—he moved with such incredible speed and unpredictability that even Nebula was forced to pause for a brief moment.

The battlefield became a blur of afterimages as the werewolf repeatedly changed direction, refusing to give the Spider Queen a clear target.

Then,

Clap!

Felix was nowhere to be seen.

Instead, Kai took his position with a long crystal spear in his hand.

The spear was as long as a javelin, which the handsome Legacy poised with practiced precision.

And then,

Bang—!

The boy hurled the spear with unwavering force, sending the projectile cutting through the air with astonishing speed.

Nebula stared at the approaching projectile before effortlessly batting it away with one of her legs.

The spear was sent crashing off to the side, leaving behind a deep hole in the ground where it struck.

The parry obstructed her vision for a brief second.

That was enough for Trisha to suddenly leap out of nowhere and appear before the Queen with her sword coated in ice and oozing mist.

With the help of Chloe’s ability, she launched forward like a released arrow.

Sword pointed straight ahead—her eyes scanned the Spider Queen’s entire body for any opening they could exploit.

Unfortunately, she was covered from head to toe in the damned chitin that their weapons had no hope whatsoever of bypassing.

A second.

Just a second before impact, Trisha felt something whooshing through the air towards her from the side.

Whirling around, she snapped her sword into position.

CLANG!

Steel met chitin in a deafening metallic scream, the clash sending out a blinding shower of sparks.

The sheer force of the impact detonated the air around them, triggering a shockwave so violent that it blasted Trisha away with immense force.

The girl crashed into the ground helplessly like a ragdoll.

Ray vaulted off the beast’s body as he felt dozens of eyes locking onto him.

One dagger was sent into his inventory.

And in his hand was a swirling orb of light, which he hurled towards the Spider Queen.

Nebula didn’t even make an attempt to panic.

One leg was all it took to position itself between her and the incoming orb.

BOOOOM!

The blast was powerful enough to rip through Advanced-rank beasts, yet right before their eyes, the same explosion couldn’t even damage the tiny spikes covering her chitin-plated leg.

Ray landed on the ground, staring at the colossal spider before them, who still hadn’t moved from her position.

She hadn’t advanced even a single step, as though she were deliberately relishing the hopelessness the teens were experiencing.

If only she were capable of grinning, Ray imagined she would be doing exactly that at this moment.

"What’s the plan? Our initial attacks couldn’t even harm her." Felix questioned, his claws glinting beneath the chamber’s light.

He could hear steel cables groaning above them, but he didn’t react.

Ray stared ahead with a calm expression.

But inwardly, he was anything but calm.

’Anybody know how to defeat a Spider Queen? Brute force ain’t working anymore.’

"...."

However, he was met with silence.

Ray glanced at the dagger in his hand, recalling its ability, along with the second one he had sent into his inventory.

They were a pair, with each possessing a unique skill.

Recalling their effects, he gave a subtle nod.

’Okay... Bruce,’ Ray uttered inwardly as he sent the remaining dagger into his inventory.

The same went for the cloak.

’.... You’re up next.’

Then, heavy footsteps echoed throughout Ray’s Mindspace as the werewolf headed towards the chair.
