Chapter 368: Execution (1)

Chapter 366

"....."

The whole battle paused for a moment as everybody turned around in unison to stare at Caster and Van, who were tied down by the indestructible Golden Lasso.

And right beside them was Caster’s wolf.

And all around Van’s arms, a solid suit had already formed.

One thing was immediately noticeable.

That was their eyes.

They were flashing a deep crimson—the white in them now nowhere to be found at all.

"SAVE ME! SAVE ME! AAAAAAH! THEY ARE HURTING ME!" Nebula’s voice cracked through their minds once more.

And almost instantly, the two boys hollered together.

"AAAAAAAH!"

"Release me, Dark Wolf!" Caster screamed as he glared at his wolf, which darted towards him.

Its fangs flashed as they clasped onto the lasso.

Van’s arm suit began whirring and twirling with such force as though it were a chainsaw of sorts.

Sparks flew around the boys as the Dark Wolf began digging into the lasso, trying to tear through it.

At the same time, Van was struggling against the lasso with all his might, refusing to stop resisting.

Worry flashed across Ray’s face as he stared at the scene unfolding before him.

The lasso was indestructible, yes.

But he was still worried for one specific reason.

If the Spider Queen were capable of smiling at the moment, she would have been.

"Sigh... do you think it’s that easy to break out of my clutches?!" Ray questioned as he lifted his hand in the direction of the boys.

The lasso was not breaking, but right before their eyes, it was loosening.

Realizing it couldn’t break through it by force alone, the wolf decided to find the knot and began loosening it with swift agility.

"Contract," Ray whispered.

"Aaaaaah!" Van and Caster let out chilling screams of pain as the lasso tightened around their skin with such force that the exact spots immediately reddened.

Ray shut his eyes for a moment as he heard Van scream in pain due to the suddenly over-tightened lasso digging into his skin.

If they didn’t have bones in their bodies, their flesh would have been torn open by now.

That was how tight the lasso had become.

It made any escape completely futile.

Grinding his teeth back and forth as pained cries escaped his best friend, Ray turned his gaze back in Nebula’s direction.

His eyes flashed with such fury that it threatened to incinerate everything around him.

"You will pay for that. I promise you."

A quarter of Nebula’s numerous eyes rolled in his direction, confusion flashing within them.

Lifting his hand into the air, his gaze hardened as the spiders closed in on his position.

’I haven’t had the time to take a good look at this new skill. But it better be good.’

[Chain Burst Activated]

A fierce glow of blue lightning arcs began racing around the boy’s hand, which was poised in the air.

His cohort were still fighting with all their might a short distance away from him.

Though the lasso had tightened, it didn’t stop the two boys trapped in its grasp from trying to free themselves with everything they had.

"COME TO ME, YOU BASTARDS!" Ray screamed with such intensity that the spiders attacking his friends paused for a second and turned their gaze in his direction.

The bright arcs of lightning grew more intense with every passing second as the spiders drew closer and closer.

With the loud clicking of their limbs, the spiders attacking the cohort spun around and darted towards where the boy stood.

It was as though he had become a beacon, drawing every one of the beasts toward himself.

In just ten minutes of being in the chamber, they had reduced the beasts’ numbers drastically.

But it didn’t mean they were few in number now.

Far from it.

Their numbers would have still been overwhelming for a single person.

Three hundred spiders were headed straight for one boy.

The air itself seemed to grow heavier as the wave closed the remaining distance.

"No—wait." Felix reached out, wanting to grab a spider.

But it evaded his grasp and lunged toward the boy.

"What is Ray trying to do?" Trisha asked with a huff.

Beads of sweat marred her beautifully cold face as she looked at the approaching spiders.

Chloe gulped silently.

"I-I didn’t have the time to check before. But-but that’s an awful lot of them right there."

Kai wiped his forehead with the back of his hand, feeling as though his mana pool had been reduced to half of its previous capacity.

Turning behind him for a moment to see if the duo had a chance to escape yet, he shook his head with a tired sigh.

Even though the whole situation was hopeless, they were still trying their hardest to break free from the clutches of the lasso.

And in the process, they were taking damage.

Their arms were cracked and shattered due to the force of the contraction.

Blood trickled down their arms and lips.

They had been biting down on their lips with all the stubborn determination they could muster.

With another tired sigh, a heavy crystal club materialized in the boy’s hand as he gazed back in Ray’s direction.

The Tribrid could no longer be seen.

His position had been completely swallowed by the swarms of spiders.

And if it wasn’t for the fact that the beasts were still pushing forward, Kai would have thought that his friend was already dead.

Looking back at the other cohort, Kai suddenly stood on his toes.

And then, as silent as the wind, he spun around and lunged into the distance.

Heading for Caster and Van, who were still struggling with everything they had.

Ray could barely see the lights in the chamber as the spiders had all reached his position, and scythes were rocketing towards him with chilling speed.

Unhesitatingly, Ray ground his teeth and hurled his hand downward with explosive force.

Bam!

A silent shockwave blasted outward.

Followed by a heavy blast of lightning that shot across the battlefield with thunderous speed.

"DIE!" Ray screamed as he vaulted into the air just in the nick of time.

Scythes, mandibles, and talons sliced through the spot he had occupied only a moment earlier.

And right on cue,

Boooom—!

An explosion of lightning tore outward, with arcs of the ability crashing into one beast.

And then, like a chain of events, the arcs began jumping from one spider to the next with incredible speed.

Due to their close proximity, the lightning didn’t find it difficult to latch onto them.

It leapt from one to another with astonishing speed.

Their chitin and even their armour couldn’t save them, as the lightning bypassed both, sending joules upon joules of electrifying pain surging through whatever flesh lay beneath the mass of spiked chitin.

The blue arcs illuminated the chamber with blinding flashes as more and more spiders became trapped within the ever-spreading chain of electricity.

Ray smirked as the beasts were locked in place.

Feeling Nebula’s gaze on him, the boy pointed his hand downward.

"Say goodbye to your kids."
