Chapter 1433: Chapter 1432: The Onset of Labor Pains
Ye Lu’s tone was firm, stubbornly refusing to leave.
Dr. K: "You’ve waited for half the day, and he still hasn’t come. Do you think he’ll suddenly show up? Waiting any longer is pointless. Go back and get some rest—I won’t allow my patient to do something so foolish."
She was pregnant, her health already fragile, and sitting here for so long would only exhaust her. Most importantly, this kind of waiting was entirely meaningless, and he couldn’t bear to watch her waste time like this.
"You can leave, but I won’t. I will wait for him," Ye Lu replied stubbornly, shaking her head and persisting.
"You... Why are you so stubborn? Are you stupid? Deep down, you know he’s not coming. He doesn’t even consider this important. Why are you humiliating yourself like this? It’s useless, even if you wait until dawn. He won’t come, and that’s final!"
Ye Lu’s body trembled, her fingertips clenching tightly.
"So what? I made a promise, and I’ll keep it. Whether he comes or not, I’ll fulfill my vow. I will wait for him—I will!"
There was only this one chance in a lifetime. In the past, she’d never been the one waiting; it was always him waiting for her—waiting for her to understand, waiting for her to love him. Now, this time, she wanted to be the one waiting for him.
She just wanted to see him—just once.
Opportunities like this would never come again.
Even if it meant being willful, she would be willful just this once.
"..." Faced with her unwavering resolve and her selfless, undying love for him, Dr. K couldn’t muster any anger. Instead, he let out a quiet sigh.
He could only hope that Third Young Master Jun would show up, so as not to betray such profound love and sacrifice. A woman willing to go to such lengths was truly moving.
Yet his rational judgment remained correct.
Third Young Master Jun never showed up from beginning to end.
Patrons came and went from the café, and in the end, only the two of them remained, sitting silently across from each other, as lonely as snow.
Dr. K didn’t try to persuade her again. He wanted to see for himself; he couldn’t bring himself to speak. If he urged her to leave, it would shatter the last thread of hope she was clinging to, and that would be too cruel.
She was so desperately hoping to see Third Young Master Jun.
But in the end, they still left.
Not because Ye Lu had lost hope or was unwilling to wait any longer, but because her complexion grew increasingly pale, her hand clutching her abdomen.
Dr. K noticed this and immediately realized something was wrong. He anxiously asked her what was happening.
Ye Lu, her face ashen and drenched with cold sweat, bent over with a pained expression and said she was feeling abdominal pain—her contractions had started.
Dr. K’s face turned pale as well. He froze for a few seconds, rare tension washing over him.
It was clear she was about to give birth.
But his previous calculations indicated that, after administering the labor-inducing medication, the delivery would be over half a month ahead of schedule. She shouldn’t have started feeling contractions until two days later.
Why was it happening so early?
What he was worried about wasn’t the unpredictability of the plan but the possibility that Ye Lu’s body wouldn’t handle this well. Inducing labor was already risky, and now her body was advancing even earlier!
"This time, there’s no choice but to leave." His expression grew grim as he immediately called his assistant, then bent down to pick Ye Lu up and rush her back.
Ye Lu, however, shook her head, breathing rapidly, her gaze alertly scanning the surroundings. Doubling over in pain, she whispered, "I... I’ll... walk out myself."
After saying this, she supported herself on her chair and stood up.
She was extremely cautious, fearing that there might be people sent by the Godfather secretly monitoring her.
If they saw her in this condition, they might suspect her premature labor, and her plans would become impossible to execute. She couldn’t allow anyone to find out.
