Chapter 489: Chapter 313: This Time, I’m Crying from Happiness (3)

"What’s the rush..." Jiangg Yao bit her lip and shot him a look. "I know I’m supposed to come find you tonight, but I have to wait until my sister is asleep."

"It’s not that. Here, sit down."

Chen Yuan pulled Jiangg Yao onto his lap, his gaze repeatedly darting toward the door. The door was ajar, and he could actually hear the sounds of activity from the kitchen, but he was still nervous, afraid that Jiangg Ning might walk in at any moment.

This guilty conscience was tormenting, but at the same time, it also felt... thrilling.

As Chen Yuan settled back into the gaming chair, he looked at the utterly bewildered Jiangg Yao and told her to be patient while he furtively fumbled for something in his pocket.

When Yaoyao saw his movements, her brow furrowed even more deeply. She glanced down at his hand, then back up at his face, her expression a mix of amusement and exasperation.

"Young Master, what are you doing?"

"Look!" Chen Yuan eagerly pulled out a pure white jewelry box. The hard case had been digging into him uncomfortably the whole time.

"What’s this? A gift for me?"

"That’s right."

"Wow?"

Jiangg Yao handed her cup to Chen Yuan and carefully took the box. A mix of anticipation and surprise danced in her eyes, making her already exquisite features sparkle.

She was dying to know what was inside the box.

But no matter what it was, just the fact that it was from Chen Yuan made her incredibly happy.

’Is it just my imagination, or is it real?’ Lately, Jiangg Yao had distinctly felt Chen Yuan being especially attentive toward her—so much so that it was almost overwhelming.

"Now that you both know about my situation, it wouldn’t feel right not to get you something. I’d look stingy," Chen Yuan said, looking into her eyes. "But I bought this with my own salary—money I earned myself."

"Why would you think that?" Although she was overjoyed to be receiving a gift, she first tried to comfort him. "You’ve already done so much. I know you’ve been wonderful to me ever since we started dating, Young Master. Some things can’t be measured with money and gifts."

"Mhm, just open it and take a look."

"Oh, come on, you won’t even tell me what it is."

Jiangg Yao’s hands quickened as she deftly unwrapped the gift, her movements betraying her eagerness.

Her Young Master seemed to have really gotten the hang of romance lately. He was spoiling her so much that she felt like she was bathing in honey. Even Jiangg Yao’s voice had become noticeably gentler. She smiled at him, full of blissful certainty, as she continued to unwrap the present.

She was moving so quickly that she accidentally caught her nail, and a light blush rose to her cheeks.

Jiangg Yao swallowed hard. With just one step left, she held the box and, with a gentle push, flipped open the lid.

The light was on in the guest bedroom.

In a flash.

A glittering, impossibly elegant diamond watch appeared before Jiangg Yao’s eyes, and she froze.

A white leather strap held the delicate watch face, and its several inlaid diamonds shimmered brilliantly under the light.

The hands of the watch ticked softly, a faint, crisp sound that, in the quiet room where only their breathing was audible, made its delicate and compact form seem all the more present.

It was truly a meticulously crafted work of art.

And it was stunning.

Even Jiangg Yao, who was accustomed to expensive jewelry, was left speechless.

"WOW!!!"

A moment later, Jiangg Yao let out an involuntary cry of astonishment.

Chen Yuan had been smiling, but his pupils contracted in shock at her shout.

"Hey, don’t be so loud! If Ningning hears you, we’re done for." He quickly clapped a hand over Jiangg Yao’s mouth.

"Mmph, mmmph mmmph, mmmph?"

Jiangg Yao mumbled something unintelligible, her expression one of utter astonishment.

She pulled Chen Yuan’s hand away and took a deep breath.

"Why would you buy something so expensive? This must have cost hundreds of thousands, at least! Young Master..."

"It’s fine. Like I said, I got paid, and I spent my own money. Besides, the whole reason I earn money is to spend it on my wonderful wife, Yaoyao..." Chen Yuan said with a cheeky grin.

The words were childish and so sweet they were almost cloying—they would have given anyone else goosebumps. But Jiangg Yao was completely floored by his declaration that he earned money just to spend it on his wife. Her cheeks flushed red in an instant, and she was moved beyond words.

"Young Master..."

"I’m here."

"Why are you so good to me? This is too precious, I—"

"Yaoyao, just try it on. I’ll help you." Chen Yuan took her hand with an air of finality and removed the watch, which gleamed with a cool luster, from its box.

He fumbled with the clasp for a moment, figuring out how it worked, before placing the watch on Jiangg Yao’s wrist.

Yaoyao watched him quietly, not saying a word.

However, the way she pressed her lips together couldn’t hide her overwhelming delight, and the corners of her mouth couldn’t help but curve into a smile.

With a soft CLICK.

The luxurious watch found its rightful owner, melding perfectly with her fair, slender wrist, each complementing the other.

It gave Jiangg Yao an indescribable air of cool, fragile beauty, adding another layer of nobility to her disposition.

She stared at her own wrist, speechless for a long moment.

"It’s so beautiful!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with sincere admiration.

"It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I’ve got good taste, right?" Chen Yuan said with a cheeky grin. "We’ll call this the first official present I’ve given my Yaoyao—that pin from before doesn’t count. So, how about it? Is your Young Master good to you or what?"

"Yes~ Young Master... I... I don’t know what to say."

Jiangg Yao didn’t know why. She wasn’t one to cry—in fact, she usually scorned the heroines in romance dramas who were always moved to tears. But now, truly feeling this incomparable affection, this unavoidable, drenching rain of sweet nectar, she suddenly felt her nose tingle.

’How can I be this happy?’

’The dream I’ve always longed for—to marry the one I truly love—was always so distant and illusory, but now it’s suddenly so close.’

"You’re not about to cry, are you?" Chen Yuan cupped her small face, still teasing her lightheartedly.

"I... I can’t help it!"
