Chapter 840: Chapter 749: Medical Immortal’s Secret Transmission (4)
A vast expanse of white earth lay before them, as bitter cold winds swept the world from north to south, carrying icy fog that flowed from beneath the feet of two young girls and surged toward the southern end of the Van Gris Mountains.
Suddenly, the snow beneath Chichu Chun’s feet loosened, and the entire layer began sliding downward, pulling her body toward the precipice.
A pair of hands caught her.
Xu Xiaoyou pulled her up.
If not for the explosive collar around Chichu Chun’s neck, which could blow her head off at any moment, she might have revised her view of the person before her.
Before this, they had visited many places rumored to be related to the ’Medical Immortal’s Secret Transmission.’
Most of the rumors were baseless, yet some chilling truths lingered.
They witnessed a whole city transformed into tree-like creatures, referred to as animals because they breathed and bled, yet couldn’t live or die properly, only watching as their bodies withered into monsters.
Even so, those transformed into monsters were fanatically obsessed with the ’Miracle Medicine.’
The ’Medical Immortal’s Secret Transmission’ was indeed real.
The so-called medical fairy was granting not a miracle cure, but a poison that turned people into monsters.
This mountain range, named Van Gris,
is said to be the origin of the ’Medical Immortal’s Secret Transmission,’ where employees of the company’s outpost had witnessed the silhouette of the medical fairy.
The two girls braved the howling wind and snow, advancing dozens of kilometers until they stopped at a flat snowy land.
Looking out, a sizable round outpost emerged below the mountain, centered around a standing signal tower. This once-inhabitable area where construction traces remained was now completely blanketed by snow, devoid of life.
Ahead lay the company’s outpost base, completely abandoned, yet its defense facilities remained active. The automated Titans were quite a trouble, requiring them to prepare thoroughly here.
"Miracle Medicine, Miracle Medicine, turning people into neither human nor ghost, what’s that guy after anyway?"
Chichu Chun complained a bit, squatting down to organize her gear.
"You’d better ask why people initially sought out the ’Miracle Medicine.’" Xu Xiaoyou looked into the distance.
"You mean, the Miracle Medicine actually works?"
"Heaven does not love the people; all are trapped in mediocrity and suffering." Xu Xiaoyou recited softly.
"Yet those with blind insight become Heaven’s forsaken."
Chichu Chun shrugged, dismissing it as eccentric rambling, and started laying out the black suitcase.
As the Undead Armament unfolded, six different styles of weapons appeared.
"I haven’t introduced them to you, have I?" Chichu Chun looked at Xu Xiaoyou.
"My new gear~"
Filled with excitement, like a child sharing a new toy, she picked up the tech-infused silver-white sniper rifle to show off to Xu Xiaoyou.
"This is Dawnbreaker: Zero Protocol."
Seeing Xu Xiaoyou’s lack of reaction, she aimed the rifle at the distant wolf pack sticking its head out.
The gunfire sounded, the leading wolf fell, and the pack dispersed like frightened birds.
The wind and snow gradually subsided.
"Hehe, this is Kiss of Dead Thorns!"
"This is Steel Gaze Demon Slayer Blade, my absolute favorite weapon. Sounds cool, right?"
"This is Forbidden Double Slaughter, biubiu bang boom!"
"And this and this, Matrix Pulverizer Cannon, see that distant signal tower? One blast can collapse it into a triple fold!"
"And this..."
Xu Xiaoyou picked up the last rose-shaped grenade, pressing it to Chichu Chun’s mouth, silencing her endless chatter.
"Entropy-erasing candy," Xu Xiaoyou said.
Chichu Chun scratched her head in confusion: "How did you know?"
"No one knows you better than I do."
Chichu Chun was irked by the witty remark, pouting, she simply relaxed and lay back in the snow.
"No reaction at all, really boring."
Post-preparation, the two girls once again headed for the direction of the forward outpost.
...
In the repair shop, watching the distant figure of a man elated, Ning Yi was very curious about how Old Wu accomplished it.
"What blocker did you give him? With such a severe rejection reaction, you pulled him back from the brink of death?"
His voice raised significantly in surprise.
Old Wu hurriedly gestured for silence.
"Shh, shh, shh, keep it down."
"A few days ago, a girl came with a mystical medicine, saying it could heal anything."
Old Wu couldn’t shake his uncertainty, anxiously watching in the direction the man left.
If the potion were to turn the man deranged right before them, they’d be held accountable.
He recalled that morning a few days ago when the shop just opened, he saw a young girl sitting at the entrance; short in stature, a clean baby face hidden under a hood looked very delicate.
As soon as she saw him, she approached, speaking of miraculous medicine that cures all sicknesses while handing over a medicinal pouch.
Old Wu didn’t remember more details, only her introducing herself as ’Yaoyao,’ having such enchanting, bright eyes that sparked a protective instinct, and as he turned to fetch some candy from the store, the girl vanished.
Earlier, the man was a local mine worker; if not for him, Old Wu might have forgotten.
Unexpectedly, that girl’s medicine truly worked.
Even the most expensive blockers aren’t as effective, barely applied, the man was relieved of pain, the bleeding organ ceased bleeding, and a jade-blackened lung from pipe smoke was healed, the sight was indescribable.
Old Wu’s amazement mixed with fear revealed the astonishment and trepidation seeing the unchanged potion pouch.
Old Wu paced the shop under Ning Yi’s bewildered gaze, murmuring unsurely, seemingly contemplating in agony.
Finally, he stopped and let out a deep breath.
"All right, take some of this medicine and head to the nearby mines, use it for the workers there."
Without much thought, Ning Yi accepted the medicinal pouch.
"Not charging any money?"
Old Wu glared at him: "Can I even collect money? They owe me a mountain already, if this medicine truly works, just have them use it, work harder, and pay back what they owe me sooner."
Ning Yi shrugged, took the medicine, and planned to leave.
Old Wu called him back.
With constant sighs, Old Wu summoned Ning Yi, emptied part of the pouch into brown paper, and handed it back.
"Go on, go on."
After a few steps, suddenly Old Wu’s voice shouted again.
"Wait a minute! Wait a minute!"
"What now?"
"Whatever they ask, say the medicine was just given to you by a girl, she told you to use it for them, and it’ll be gone after use."
"All right, all right, I got it."
As the boy reached the door, Old Wu’s anxious face appeared, wanting to convey, his throat wrestled before uttering one phrase.
"Come back soon, let’s have a warm meal today."
